He is quite an inspiration! It's very easy to see that when you start thinking what would you do in his situation. He is so detatched from his ego that sometimes it seems like he has infinite confidence. But in the end he's just a guy who's really determined to live his life to fullest, while clearly undestanding the fact that who HE IS, doesn't matter, but the things and people around him do. He never humiliates anyone, neither does he boast about his accomplishments, he calls Gordy commander just to make him feel better, he takes advice from Kadoc while clearly being more experienced than him. Even after being tortured in shimousa, or being captured in traum, he just chills and doesn't hate the wrongdoers. People underestimate how hard it is to supress your egotistic feelings like this and live a contemplative life, that's what all those ancient Taoist and budhist sages lived their lives for. Douman is truly a great character. He is a person who want to do good but society see him as a villian. And he become that , Limbo the self of douman that become evil. His future self who decided to go with what the society view him as something that even his self who wanted good wanted to do sucide. and the end where Seimei stopped him. The person who he was jealous of. He knew what Douman truly is insted of what society sees him

Thank you for this video! Douman is one of the most interesting characters in fgo(and one of my favs), its so sad how people gloss over him and ignore his nuances, he's a very complex character and i hope Sakurai will show more of Douman before fall from grace if Seimei to be released

Nice vid, exploring a char that's very popular, but no actually cares enough to read into his motivations. Sakurai genuinely writes some of the best villains in FGO, between Douman, Dantes in OC2, and even Zeus.

Douman as a character is very fascinating but it is a damn shame people choose to blindly hate on him instead of understanding why he is the way he is. The writers put a lot of love and care into crafting him into what he is now and more people should appreciate it. Hopefully the video can change these people's opinion of him even if only slightly. Also very happy to help with the script. Keep cooking!

Great video! It's always great to see some insight around characters such as these. It demonstrates the conditions and situations it takes for someone like Douman to form into. While I don't think he has genuine malice, it's moreso a shallow understanding of ones own self, hence his reflection on what he's done. Keep it up! 👍
