"Westbound #9" - The Flaming Ember
The Flaming Ember was an American soul band from Detroit, Michigan, United States, who found commercial success starting in the late 1960s.
The group originally formed in Detroit in 1964. At that time they were known as The Flaming Embers, named for a local Detroit restaurant. In 1969, they signed with Hot Wax Records, the label founded by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, and Edward Holland, Jr., after the band had recorded for a number of smaller Detroit-area labels since 1965.
They dropped the "s" from its name and scored a pop and rhythm and blues hit with "Mind, Body and Soul" in 1969 (#26 on the US Billboard pop singles chart); they hit charts again with this, their signature song "Westbound #9" (#24 pop, #15 R&B).

Audio only of this great Beatles cover by Tony Deziel. I removed a little from the beginning & end for smooth playlist listening. I love adding songs to a family playlist to listen to while we play cards. I was my Mom's caretaker. I loved playing her music. This was the last song I played for her. She loved this. So do I. I hope Tony Deziel doesn't mind. He seems nice. LOL. My nephew gave me ha...

Just got a blast of melancholy ❤
I've been to a dozen tapings of "The Price is Right" throughout the past 17 years. When this song starts blasting, you know things are about to get wild.
I dig it. Very space age / bachelor pad. I'm gonna make a cocktail for my girl right now and play this.

Could this be the same Blinky Williams who sang "Ain't Nobody's Bizness if I Do" on the Lady Sings the Blues soundtrack?
I'm sure it is. They were around the same time. And how many Blinky Williams can there be? LOL

I was grinning ear to ear the first time I heard this. Brought me back to childhood in the 80s. Played it repeatedly on my radio show. Came across an old recording of that show today and the smile returned.
I like this version as much as the original. 😊
I hated that show l hope it never comes back to tv lol😂
Just heard this on WDKX in Rochester NY (9/21/24). This reminded me of the good oke days, when my family would get together and bbq, dance, and party‼️. No guns, fighting, or drugs. Just a good time‼️. GOD BLESS MY PARENTS and RELATIVES that are gone🌹. GOD BLESS JOE TEX. REST in GOD'S TRANQUIL LOVE, FAMILY and MR. JOE TEX💔
Finally i found it
I’m living this song today in my life
Sounds like Jumpin' Gene Simmons 1964 hit, "haunted house ".
I remember when this came out, right after The Supremes version. The Supremes sounded so much better, I couldn't believe it was the same song.
i've finally found the names of the wonder woman singers. it's weird. john bahler is a country singer. carolyn sang back up on seals & crofts' get closer.
This is the greatest song ever made.
This song has had a few very good covers, Hampshire's among them. In England, P.P. Arnold, an expat American, hit the charts with another interpretation. Let's face it: when you're singing Cat Stevens, it's hard to miss.
