Sioux Falls Park Virtual Walk, Sioux Falls, SD - 2024
Sioux Falls, the largest city in South Dakota, has a rich and diverse history that traces back thousands of years. Long before European settlers arrived, the region was home to Native American tribes, particularly the Dakota Sioux, who named the area for its cascading waterfalls on the Big Sioux River. These falls served as a gathering place for tribes, offering resources and spiritual significance. In the early 19th century, European explorers and traders began to settle in the region, and by 1856, the city was formally established with the construction of a military fort. Sioux Falls grew steadily due to its strategic location along the river and its fertile lands.
The late 19th century saw Sioux Falls emerge as a transportation and industrial hub. The arrival of the railroads in the 1880s spurred rapid growth, connecting the city to larger markets and bringing a surge of new settlers. The city's distinctive pink quartzite buildings, made from locally quarried stone, were constructed during this time, lending a unique architectural character to the area. By the early 20th century, Sioux Falls had diversified its economy, with agriculture, manufacturing, and meatpacking playing central roles. Despite economic challenges during the Great Depression, the city rebounded, becoming a regional center for commerce, healthcare, and education.
Today, Sioux Falls is a thriving metropolitan area known for its high quality of life, robust economy, and vibrant cultural scene. The city boasts numerous parks, including Falls Park, which highlights the natural beauty of the falls that gave the city its name. Sioux Falls is also recognized for its strong healthcare sector, with facilities like Sanford Health and Avera Health serving as major employers. Additionally, the city has a burgeoning arts scene, with galleries, theaters, and the annual SculptureWalk downtown showcasing its creative spirit. Sioux Falls continues to attract people with its blend of historical charm and modern amenities.

Definitely one of the best museums in the country. Grew up going there every year.
19:31 best moment
I got to visit there twice in one year about 16 years ago ❤and loved it
I knew this place when it was post va hospital. Always wanted to see it inside, but now heck no. I’ll stay at Thunderbird which I have been for 30 years. Much cheaper, same beach better night life closer. Only use back in the 70’s was for me and my dad to go out in gulf 15 miles w out navigation in a 12’ aluminum boat w 9.8hp was building was seen over the horizon. Nice place not for me. Thanks for vid!
Barely showed the statue
Great video! You really captured the Magnificent Mile at Christmas! Thank you!
I didn't like Virginia Beach, is very expensive and over price what you get,for example ,you have to pay to park at the motel you are staying inn, restaurant tax ect. People who work here not friendly, the ones I came across. That's my opinion. Everyone please tell me what you think. 😮😮😮🤑
a lot like Daytona Beach
Какой красивый город Чикаго
Did you use a GoPro or similar for this? Did anyone give you any trouble? I wanted to film, but I wasn't sure if anyone would hassle you for wearing a camera.
This place looks completely different than when I visited back in 1997. I wish they had an exhibit dedicated to the Sabol’s and their enormous contributions to the league through NFL Films. We need to see that classic footage, hear the voice of John Facenda, and listen to all that incredible music.
I have been to both the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and even though both are impressive the Pro Football Hall of Fame is better!
Does anyone know what they spray on popcorn?
Nice drive ! I drove from Palatine to NIU back in the 80s, however, I took I-90 to 47 south to plank rd to Rt23 to North Ave to Annie Glidden Rd. Nice to see all those cornfields again !
Classic hometown charm.

Thank you Spring Hill Mall for your years of Service. We won't forget you! #mallrats never growup
Thanks for the great memories . I been going there, since I was a kid. Took my daughter, when she was younger. She is now 17. I show her this video, for her home school video aloud . For education purposes
Glad you enjoyed it. I captured it as I was also going since I was a small kid and wanted to preserve the memories when I move away.
Wow...still playing lady gaga song ❤❤
This mall will close its doors permanently on next Friday.
End of an era.
The Interior of this place looks pretty nice. Another shock to the system to think that after only 45 years it too, is obsolete. I still do not understand why people would shop online where they can not touch, feel, or see the product. I know that we have had catalogs for over 100 years where people would buy something with only pictures to look at...but I will miss the ability to pick out something in person. Long ago they learned that people would buy more if there was more on display in a store. But now, that philosophy seems to be gone forever.
Times have changed for everyone and it's sad people don't socialize like we used to back in the day. Similar to arcades when game consoles came out in the 90s.
Went in there a final time a couple days after this video was posted. It’s so eerie with the few shops that have Grand Opening signs only to know what’s coming in about a month
I think they rent out space for a month at a time to get some final revenue. Yes the grand opening signs are interesting.
Dundee just going to close it. And let the building rot there how sad.
Assuming tax revenue is low due to sales. Redeveloping the property will bring in more jobs and a larger tax base.
@@400FootTravel they said the same thing with st charles.. over 6 years later its still setting there.
This mall is so pretty, although empty.
And now officially closed.
damn good mall, that store at 3:40 with brown windows used to be a zoomies. I got my first skateboard there good times.
Your thumbnail says East Dundee, the mall is in West Dundee. Those are two separate towns. A tiny portion of the mall is also in Carpentersville 😊 not trying to be a smartass, just a lifelong resident of the area and I want to make sure people aren’t confused.
Yes thanks. Not sure why I picked the wrong name as I used to live in Algonquin. I'll get that updated.
I’m sad that Spring Hill mall is closing last day for Spring Hill mall is March 22 2024 I will return to Spring Hill mall on Wednesday February 28 2024 before it closes
I'll try and get out there on the day it closes.
I think you should return there on the last day of the mall’s operations.
Yes for the "very last" video
They're sadly closing it down on April 22nd😢 did any of the escalators work? How'd you get to second floor?
Escalators are turned off. You can still use them as stairs.
I remember being in junior high and being dropped off at this mall with my friends on a Friday night . Was something I’d always look forward to . Parents would give me $10-$20 and I’d buy a shirt or sour powder from hot topic . I also would love going to Mr. Rags ! Thank you so much for sharing this . I’ll always have a spot in my heart for Stratford square .
I'm heading over to Springhill Mall today to video that mall since they announced their closing next month also.
Lids was the only store open?
And Kohls
What going to happen to it? I can only find little info about it.

Great tour, I visited over 50 years ago. Great memories. Am now 80 years old and live in Orlando, Fl.
I've been going there since I was a kid and wanted to capture the memories for when I also move to Florida!
10 years ago I was at this mall almost every day. My son was little and he liked going there for a train ride, merry go round, playground, ice cream, teriyaki chicken at Sarku Japan, we watched movies. It was a fun place. So sad. 😢
Unfortunately it will be rubble in a couple years.
the owner of the mall owed a lot of money & didnt pay it or didnt have enough money to pay the stores are suppose to pay the owner but they all said no
People are shopping via Amazon or Costco and not spending all day there anymore like we did in the 80s and 90s.
I doubt it ever returns
It's being redeveloped
@@400FootTravelwhat do you mean by redeveloped? And how do you know?
What made this mall loose so much business?
People are shopping via Amazon or Costco and not spending all day there anymore like we did in the 80s and 90s.
It was that shoot. ng back in 2018 that started the downward spiral, then covid sped it up by 10x
Sadly this is just an empty grass field now.
Wonderful memories of visiting this mall back in the 90s
This is the third tour video I've watched, and still haven't seen the Pottsville Maroons exhibit. I've only seen still photo's online. I was born in Pottsville and have an interest in the controversy over the 1925 championship. There is a trophy carved out of coal to represent the title, and sits in the exhibit.
If I ever walked into a place like that , I would know for sure that I made it to heaven 🍿🍿🍿
Why does it have to be in Ohio. 🤮
Canton is the birthplace of NFL.
Such a comforting sound, when the popcorn is popping. Cozy looking place!
ASML
Himalayan Sea Salt, however, is a bit funny. That isn't what you meant.
I love the look of your products but I see so much labour-intensity here!
We went here yesterday...we will never be returning again! A total Zoo! Waste of time and money
Try to go when it is less busy and get there early. There is a lot to see. Also a free tip: The school tours leave right after lunch so it slows down fast.
There's two large sections you didn't post. Hope you didn't miss them.
Which ones did I miss.
This comment was meant for another post. You did cover everything well. Thanks for sharing.@@400FootTravel
I remember when i went for a school field trip on my birthday
