Paramotor speed run down steam vent canyon in remote Iceland
Переглядів 2293 роки тому
This spot was so epic. It was my first time flying through a volcanic steam vent. Smelled like sulfur just as I imagined 🙂 We are in an area so remote google maps doesn't care enough to have a proper aerial image of it and there are no pictures we found before, so we just started exploring. This area was tucked in the northern part of the Vatnajökull glacier. It took a while to get here offroad...

But how can u fly over houses and stuff Is that not prohibited?? And do u need to report anything to air control that u will be buzzing around or how that works ? Im from Slovenija thinking to get in to this sport but im afraid that is to much regulations with flying or u have altitude wher u can fly ?

Dad worked for Kaiser Steel in late 70's. We had such wonderful childhood memories growing up out there. So fun! You kept flying over my old house! Thank you for that! Near the high school, and I vividly remember sliding down the grassy hill (when there was grass and not so worn out hill) behind our house on a piece of cardboard for fun. lol! Thank you so much!

It’s a shame that the only people who remember living there are mostly only us kids who have all aged into our senior years what would be a great thing would be to get permission to go back there and be allowed to have a little reunion and be able to park our Rv in the driveway of our childhood house and be able to visit and share our childhood memories that would be something that I would enjoy so much before this town is gone forever and while some of us former residents are still living I am sure that most of the adults are not with us any longer but it would be great to have the ones who are still living to join us my father passed away in 02 and this would be a great way to enjoy some memories that will be cherished forever if this would ever happen I would be happy to set up a deep fryer at the bowling alley snack bar and make deep fried burritos for everyone I loved those so much I would be there every Saturday night for them no matter what and watch a movie at the small movie theater I can’t remember if it was inside the bowling alley or in the building on the other side of the street but I remember that there was a small movie theater somewhere close by

Wow this is cool i always wanted to see that ghost town but every time after coming back from Joshua Tree we were too tired! We could have seen this like we do with your video! Did someone follow you as well? The state of California should have bought it and placed all the homeless in that town have a store and at the same time the town would have been back again! There will be lots of work to do but very possible!

It amazes me how, whether an individual or a going concern can just walk away and leave all this crap behind and local governmet dont string them up. Ive travelled around the W US quite a bit and it never ceases to blow me away how much, what amounts to garbage, just gets left behind.

My father worked here from 72 to 83. This place was so beautiful and all were like family. I grew up my childhood years and what a great one that was. I often think of the great memories and oh the football game that the town was all there to see. We Will Rock You was the intro for the players to take the field.

I lived there for a while when I was a kid my dad worked at the mine one day he was backing up his truck and backed into a pipe that carried fuel and we had to be evacuated from school to desert center I remember that we could hear the fuel gushing from the pipe all the way in town and then not long after I was in school and we had to evacuate because of a flash flood I was in the restroom when the flood happened and it was scary that it rose up to my waist within minutes while I was in the restroom and my favorite place where I went was the bowling alley I loved the deep fried burritos they had in the snack bar

This place is where I had first fulltime job as a fleet mechanic helper after Junior College in Jan '74. I was 24 years old. I become a journeyman after 2 years. I left the mine in 1983 when the operation curtailed. I met my wife here and currently living in Nevada. 10:51 in the middle of the screen is a house with 2 palm trees was my late in-laws house and far to your right was a church where my wife and I got married. Lots of memories here. Thanks for posting.
