Colourful Teaching For You
Приєднався 28 тра 2018
Welcome to Colourful Teaching For You! I’m Ms. Charlotte, a teacher and mom. I LOVE helping teachers and parents create heart-centered classroom communities and homes to engage children through inquiry, social and emotional learning, and POSITIVE behavior management. 💕 Note: I’m not a physician so advice on this channel is based on my knowledge as a mom, and a practicing teacher.
I’ve had medical professionals observe me so that I could help my students and your children learn and reach important milestones. The Learning to Talk and ADHD and autism videos are designed to provide interactive screen time to help your children improve their speech, learn how to make friends, and develop their self regulation skills.
I have a Bachelors in Education focusing in social and emotional learning and a Masters focusing in learning and language development. I encourage parents and children to watch together so that we can all practice together. Let’s learn together!

Here’s the truth: Our kids are always going to have big emotions, but the way I’ve learned to handle it? I focus on teaching my children about self-regulation. ✨ It’s easy to get caught up in the lows and the meltdowns- when’s the next one going to take place, where will we be when it happens, who will see it, how will you manage it. Hi I’m a 30 yr old woman trying to get an autism diagnosis and it’s so difficult and also $1000 minimum plus eval? Anyway I am commenting to say you are extremely beautiful. 😊
I’m a 29 year old male who exhibits a lot of ASD traits and who my mental health provider suspects me of being a high-functioning autistic. That said, I stim a lot whenever I feel angry or excited and even did so when I was a child. All the adults in my life just dismissed my inability to form friendships with other children and my quietness as shyness, so as a result I didn’t get diagnosed as early as I should have, and I STILL have yet to be officially diagnosed. 😢
Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I really appreciate it. I'm sorry that the adults in your life weren't there for you. There are a lot of people that don't want to face it and prefer to ignore it instead of helping their child. I'm glad you have a good health care provider in your corner. The process to get diagnosed can take quite a while. In the meantime, make sure to surround yourself with people who can love and support you. You deserve it.
😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝 aaaaggddd ppoottatos 🥔🥔🥔🥔
What?
Ur just mad u don’t get potatoes 🥔
seeing a doctor is great and all, but with waiting lists like we have in UK, it’s not as quick as just going to the doctor and being referred and waiting a couple months at most to hear back. we wait years. so do go on google, if you feel the shoe fits, look into how to support your loved ones with the things they struggle with, in a way that they’ll respond to.
Does it take that long to see your family doctor? They usually (not always) won't refer you if they don't believe your child needs it. I agree that the wait times incredibly long. If you're able to manage looking at Google, that's great but a lot of people tend to over diagnose and worry unnecessarily. Pairing this up with a support group or joining a community so that you have support when the worry kicks in if you're using Google or not might be helpful.

Hey there! It's nice to hear from you again.
Hello
Hi! How are you?
Can you please use "high support need"(at times and can have low support need areas and/or days ) autism and "low support need autism" (also at times and can have High support need days) instead of just high or low functioning autism?
Hi! Thank you for your feedback. The terms have changed since I created this video, which was a while ago. My latest videos have reflected that change. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

I understand you are trying to be helpful but instead of doing this please teach people using the right label for autistic people, using outdated terms is not cool. ATTE. An autistic person.
Thanks but this video is older and this term was used then. I've also explained my reasoning a number of times in the comments. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I appreciate it.
My Family Speak Urdu and my other Family speak English. English is right to left Urdu , Arabic is right to left. You think this can cause Autism? Or Dislexsia. I think i came to the wrong page 😅
No! This can't cause either of them. A person is born with them. Learning multiple languages is actually a good thing as it develops different aspects of a person's brain. My dad knows both of those languages and multiple others.
Another reason is we love them
Love when you're being harmed is a slippery slope reason to stay with someone but it is a reason. I hope that even if a person is in love with their abuser, they leave for their mental well-being.
yea but
but?
the spectrum is definitely way too wide
It is.
I feel im scared of aging. All my men friends want woman like 20 years younger. I always had a good heart and took my good looks for granted. Now i feel not attractive and going to a horribly future im ashamed and feel unloved
We all age. Do you need someone to help you feel loved? Can you learn to love yourself for who you are? Once you focus on that, you'll attract more people into your life and you'll feel less ashamed. Honestly, there's nothing wrong with aging and being single. Enjoy your life as you are in this moment or find communities to engage in as they'll help uplift you and show you that you are worthy.
AAAAAA The fact that people called it “ mild functional autism” must really gets on my nerves as an. Autistic person I just wanted to say that it is really annoying calling people with autism “ mild and high functioning”
I'm sure it is and I understand and appreciate your comment. Please note that this was created a while ago and that I've explained my reasoning multiple times in the comments, as well as who this video was created for.

What is EA?
It stands for Education Assistant. They are support staff to assist with specific student needs.
🎉
Yay! Thank you!
I find it so hard not to react, especially when it happens over and over again.
I understand. I was and sometimes I'm still that way. I had to do a lot of inner work to realize that the problem wasn't with me but with my abuser instead. Whenever I felt like I was being baited, I was tell myself that in my head over and over again so that I wouldn't get sucked into whatever nonsense was being spewed at me. Is there a way for you to shut down and focus on this as a mantra as well so that you aren't having to listen to every single thing that's being said?
❤

Right? I thought the same thing. Many people are using different terms now but the important thing to note about autism is that it's a spectrum and where a person is on the spectrum can change depending on the day and circumstance. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment.

Haha! What's up!
One cannot have ‘mild autism’ anymore than ‘mild femaleness’ or ‘mild homosexuality’. You might be thinking of support needs, but even these can vary depending on context.
I get it and I've already discussed this at length in my comments. Yes, this is for support purposes. As a teacher, it's not possible to differentiate that way, especially since many of us have a variety of other students to support as well. Thank you for your comment.
Very nice😍
Thank you so much. You are truly lovely!

Hi: The link was in the description (three dots). Please click the following as well www.colourfulteachingforyou.com/2023/04/how-to-support-students-who-have-mild-autism
❤️❤️❤️
I really appreciate it. How was your weekend?
Mam,my son was perfect in every mildstone,he was 3 years old now ..he did every work what i say ..coming to speech he asks everything what he want but just in words not sentences..he doesn't try to form small sentences ..just simply he said yes ..no like that is this coming to autism
Not all children talk at the same time. He may not be ready to talk in sentences yet. Check with your pediatrician as they have ways of diagnosing autism. I am a teacher- not a doctor. I post videos on UA-cam to help little ones with speech. The following is the link to the playlist. ua-cam.com/video/P6y-BNVLMjA/v-deo.html Let him go at his own pace. therapy is a solution of autism ...? My son is 3 years old he understands everything but don't speak he said only papa, mumma, and when i meet with pediatrician and they said its mild autism ...and do the therapy...
It depends on the type of therapy. Speech therapy should help. I'm a teacher though. I'm not a doctor so go with your pediatrician's advice. I also have a speech segment here that your son can practice with. I put out a new video every Sunday. Do you want the link to the playlist?

There’s no such thing as mild low or high functioning autism all people on the spectrum are 100% autistic some people on the spectrum just need more support I do not wish to be mean to you I just wanted to stop this misinformation. I would suggest researching support levels of autism.
This isn't misinformation. Please note that I've explained my reasoning multiple times in the comments. This video was also created quite a while ago when this was a thing. I agree that this term is going away now and I support it. Thank you for taking the time to comment and share your thoughts.
I have mild autism, it was little more high functioning when i was 4 (I am 14 now)
Thank you for sharing. Autism is a spectrum so where you are on the spectrum is bound the change based on different circumstances, the amount of support you've looked into and received and with time. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your life experience with me. Have a lovely day.
