I wanted to be a math teacher but school officials, particularly the DOE, discouraged me from chasing my dream. I also recall CUNY guidance counselors discouraging me from pursuing my academic objectives. This was all done in an effort to keep certain minorities from reaching success and job security. So, I did others things with my life. Now at 59 years old with three college degrees, I find myself working as a security guard making peanuts for a living in a dead-end job. How about that for a story?

This is inspiring and your podcast/channel literally feels it came on the wings of angels!! I’m at a crossroads & had honestly forgotten about unschooling. I think we’ve been doing it anyway haha but with mom still struggling with all the fears & lotsa power struggles!! I took mental note of: take interest, you’re creating power struggle, build trust…so what if child is turning 12 in June & you know you’ve butted heads for so long & you can’t seem to get off that bus? Can you heal that? We’ve been homeschooling since Covid, and I’m tired of the burnout. Glad I found you!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I hear you! And yes we have been homeschooling since Covid too! It is not easy for sure. My oldest is actually 12 years old … and I know for sure how challenging this age is. Something I have tried with my family is going family meetings like how companies have meetings. These family meetings have been quite helpful for fostering understanding! And definitely learning more about the brian . It has helped me understand kids in general at a much deeper level. And decision making by data not drama. Try to remove all the emotions!

Thanks for sharing. I feel mentorship is missing here. For example, lively professors don't live predictable lives. They move to different circuits. They start by doing quality research, then PhD supervision, management, consultancy, editorial work, professional engagements, and followed by visiting professorships near retirement. Hope it helps.

America's problem is that the family unit has broken down. Even the families that are still together put their infants in daycare and that comes with a host of psychological problems down the line.

I am a fourth year BBA student and I feel hopeful towards the future of higher education from seeing faculty members like you also share similar enlightments. I am not enjoying my learning experience as much as I anticipated at first and find professors reciting textbooks and "plagarizing" quiz and test questions from test banks to be very uninspiring and demoralizing. It is especially worse with my online classes when most of the time there was so teaching involved at all - that I had to teach myself. I started to reflect on my experience which had led me to your video. Thank you for your fresh perspective!

In my opinion a lot of this disrespect is taught on shows. Adults watch shows like, say Seininfeld, and find it funny because many of the things the characters do are so out of the scope of regular social norms, that we are laughing at the shock of it. For kids, they don't know the social norms. They are laughing for different reasons. Rather they are internalizing these behaviors as normal. I think back to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. In an early episode Will Smith was so disrespectful to the school he was attending. In the show he was not punished, he was glorified. They allowed his behavior to continue. College students like myself, knew that wasn't reality, but I think younger kids thought they could be cool like him and get away with this type of behavior. If you really look at kids shows from the last 30 years, you will find most have this level of disrespect, not so much towards the adults - although there is some, but absolutely between the kids.

I pray that 90% go out of business tomorrow. Most of them are scams. Science, engineering, law and medicine sure. Even there they are way over priced and most of the degrees could be 2 years to learn what you need. Most degrees are worthless and amount to brainwashing with leftist garbage.

Hi Shannon! Thank you for commenting. I totally hear you! Yes. There are so many factors... video games, not enough time playing outside, not learning how to handle one's own emotions (self regulation is so missing), feeling lonelier than ever in a digitally connected world, school stress, and so many other factors. i truly believe just like athlete need coaches, our students today need a good life and career coach more than ever!

Mastered Covid, with a death rate 0.6% of America’s. Grew the economy faster than ever, by $2 trillion PPP, four times America’s rate. Became the richest country on earth. Built three exascale computers. One runs AI problems 88,000 times faster. Brought two gas-cooled Pebble Bed nuclear power plants online. Fired up two thorium-fueled reactors, eliminating uranium from power generation. Certified a Covid treatment that reduces hospitalizations and deaths 78%. Became the world’s largest movie market. Successfully tested the world’s most powerful solid rocket engine. Flew three hypersonic missiles around the planet. Released a fractional orbital bombardment missile, at 17,000 mph.
