Interesting info. I never thought to ask my supplier how they cut their steel. Thanks for the tip!
If you already know that laser-cutting is creating a heat-affected zone in the steel, why do you still use the process? You are having to 'clean up' the side-effects of the laser-cut...don't cut with lasers, end of problem. Water-jet can cut a stack of blanks without hardening the material. Lots of other ways to cut steel...that band-saw of yours might come in handy.
About the 100mm and 150mm flat files do the sides taper towards the tip, like the 300mm flat file or are they completely rectangular?
