I bought this very nice 2008 BMW 535XI Sport Package from the 2nd owner(he bought it used 1 year old! ) I go through it and install a transfer case actuator and t/c fluid ..fresh battery as it was near end of its life causing the car to run rough at start up until it warmed up..we talk about what these N54 engines issues are and the Pros and cons

Correction-In the first few seconds I say after 2 years of being restored -should have been, after 2 years of restoring Maggie how she coming along We meet up w Steve and his 1972 MGB while doing a full restoration ,2 years into it ,how far has he come with the car? Steve then buys a restored 1971 MGB to drive while he is restoring Maggie! Nice life Steve has ! lol

I need to know what the chemical smell is. My vehicle has the same thing and I’ve changed the cabin air filter and nothing fixes it! Can’t figure it out!
I just did the plugs/air filter/oil change/gear box fluid/rear window stuts .its the next video on this car...I just took it for a quick spin...runs so much better! I ll still try to figure that smell out..I read it could be the heater core ....among few other things...but we are getting a snow storm tonight so might not be able to work on it until next week...

However, I was really shocked & surprised to learn that the small motorcycle engine it uses guzzles gas! Only 16-19 miles per gallon? Very odd. 👍🏻

no, you did not freak me out, but you freak my friend out, he has a GLA45 is doing the exact same thing like yours, replaced with a new CKP sensor, the car run smooth again.

@@BaldadonisMike2021 On the plus side I hear GLK are more reliable than the 4 cylinder turbo GLC. I guess you can't compare a v6 with a v4 regardless of turbo.

@@averyj.steele1074 2005 should have a timing belt..stick with newer car but if you dont mind the older 1 just keep in mind it does have a timing belt just more maintenance and see if it has been replaced w the water pump..let me know what you get!

@ I’ve look at the RX and GLE but nothing talks to me the way the Cayenne does. Currently have a 2015 tundra and 2000 gs300 love the reliability of Toyota but want the aggression and the speed that got driving my buddy’s
200k is probably pretty safe. Its probably only got a few thousand miles on its 4th engine.

I'm English your not quite as famous as Mike, regarding the Jazz I've been contemplating the 2018 onwards Jazz 1.5 VTEC sport for the mrs but she's not keen as in Europe & Australia they are renowned for only pensioners buying them you certainly won't see anyone under 70 in the UK owning them. The 1.5VTEC we have in Europe is the 6 speed manual No1 bought the crap CVT as even pensioners drive manuals & we just don't really drive autos here. Unless over 3.0L.
My Dad told me before buying a luxury car make sure you have a garage to put it in and you can afford the repairs. Didn't get my 325 convertible until then. If you like to drive, a BMW is for you.

OEM water pump from BMW $225-FCP EURO from $100-up.. But yup they can be pricey

As with all things cars..how well was the car you are looking at maintained? I would buy another CLA ..I enjoyed it ,looked great w Sport Package ,great gas mileage ..but I bought the car from a private owner so I know what was done for service.. But you can always buy a warranty from various after market warranty companies if you wanted to(thats just a option) I sold the car almost 3 years ago and I do not know if it has had any issues since then..
These are stellar machines! I have one and I'm absolutely impressed. And I'm not easily impressed by vehicles.
these had valve covers leaking..18 hours to replace ..I was told ...have you replaced those yet(valve cover gaskets) how many miles you have on yours?
@BaldadonisMike2021 these engines are easy to work on! They're not hard at all! You just have to know the secrets about them. Mine has 91,000 miles it doesn't leak a drop of oil. Has zero maintenance issues. I have to put new tires next year. I take care of it myself, but I also have 30 years experience fixing machines 🦾

No not really ..you have a lot of miles? Most likely you need fresh struts?
My last 6 cars have been Avalon's, still have 3 to maintain. Years 06 / 08 /12. Basic maintenance is all I usually need. The 06 Ltd being driven by my daughter has the most power.
The clicking noise is probably because the solid lifters have worn in a bit and you need a valve adjustment. That’s based on the excellent condition, which probably eliminates an accessory.
Oops you said alternator. Leaving my comment in because the owners manual includes it as periodic maintenance but hydraulic, self adjusting lifters have lulled us into inattention.
@@mdubb4855 end up being the alternator ..It was charging fine and its mostly me being OCD lol..I did a follow up video replacing it w brakes pads up front..they passed state inspection but after doing them big difference in stopping ..thanks for the comment!

I sold mine to my aunt and uncle ,I did put front brake pads /transfer case fluid /tires and had the 2 rims straighten out ..I love it! But about 6 weeks later he had a coolant issue that cost $1800 to fix! I My cost would have been much less but he lives near the RI area .He just wanted to get it fixed and found a shop down there.. I dont know if I would buy another ..Battery installed and programmed is $1000 alone..(Porsche ) Let me know if you buy it! Good luck

You know that kid could single handedly revive the luxury car market. They need to clone him, because every damn BMW or Merc I go to buy have those fking torn drivers seats. Entire car immaculate- except the seat looks like it was beaten to death.

Truck is from the Wash DC area and has been (basically) SE Pennsylvania for the past decade. Not quite the full throated rust belt or northern snow (salt) belt but I'm still showing more undercarriage damage than I'd like. I should have looked into Fluid Film or other earlier but its on my spring to-do list.

Biggest thing I learned from your vid that helped, was the knock sensor cut, and the hand sanitizer on the steering wheel spokes. Those are good ones., I own an 07 Auto with 187K zero issues.
