Love it!
Love the video couldn’t stand to listen to that horrible music though😊 I love that bike😊
fresh….
That sound and beauty❤
Have you ported the cylinder ?
@@ejgrae1989 hey mate, not yet but it’s coming.👍
@ yea just looked and your intake bridge looked thinner than stock. Nice one. Is the rd carb a 28mm?
@ It’s just a stock RD350 carb,intake and reed block.
I ported the intake side out a bit to fit the RD reed block in.
@ rd350 block with phenolic reeeds ?
Beautiful parts makes you never want to leave the garage
Awesome!! I love it! Sounds amazing!
Please could you let us know from which bike n model are the yokes from ?
@@claytonmenezes5980 hi mate I’m not sure what you guys refer as a yoke? But I’m assuming it’s the fork triple clamp? It all came out of the 1995 CBR600F fitted straight in with the Allballs bearing conversion kit.👍
@rechargegarage8705 thanks a million
I take it you gapped the piston rings and chamfered the upper and lower edges of all the ports in the barrel after having them bored ?
Hey Chris i got the bikes home took it for a spin and she runs great every thing sounds like new you have done an excellent job. even the rd400 is running great. Thank you great work
@@nelsonfernandes7933 no worries Nelson thank you for giving me the opportunity to work on your 2 beautiful bikes it was a pleasure.👍
Very nice bike built with very nice parts I just take longer to rev the engine past 6000 rpm only after 500 km and I put 1% mix on the tank for the 1st 800 km. I also avoid constant engine speed. Anyway nice work
I had the same bike back in the day mine was very special iv never stopped liking RD I all most bought a 500 nice bikes.
Those bores look suspect!. LC bores always wear unevenly and Never clean up at 0.25mm increase, if bored properly.
Had 4 back in the day,all in different guises, love to have another,i wish this was smellyvision!
Where did you get the seat cowl?
@@fermindelarosa3060 hey mate I bought it on eBay from a fibreglass manufacturer in Australia he had all different kinds of seat pods.👍
The owner will be happy with that, I'm sure. Good parts, top workmanship, nice re-set back to zero K's on the motor. Nice work.
Beautiful piece of motorcycle history 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
That 350LC is really beautiful. Wished I had bought one when they first came out. - that example is stunning
great job lad sounds pretty sweet maybe a bit rich on bottom end keep up the great work
@@markaddy53 thanks Mark 👍
Two strokes are so fun to ride. When they hit their power band and zip right on up the tachometer range it gives ya a smile.
The nicest RD I've ever seen, even though it's very modified, it's still an RD in it's heart, just more muscle and road prowess.
Y'all gotta clean the excess burn 🔥 carbon buildup off them heads like ye olde X6?
Kenny Roberts colour scheme, always loved that on an LC.
Love it! 😊
Hey mate do you have a link for the expansion chamber ? Does it work Well with the stock porting ?
@@ejgrae1989 sorry I don’t have a link I bought it from eBay a long time ago, and it does go quite well considering it’s stock.
I always just shim the springs with a few washers to increase spring rate. They’re all weak after 40-50 years.
@@ejgrae1989 thanks, I think I did that or I’m going to do that. 👍
@@rechargegarage8705 yea you did do that in your video. I just found with old Yamahas like ct175 and my L5T the springs have all lost tension and I spent heaps buying Barnett springs and all sorts of stuff and they still slipped with new frictions type f atf and the definitive fix was shimming the springs 3mm on my ct175. It is tuned though with porting pipe and flatslide.
@ no just stock, but there may be some big improvements on the way, you’ll have to wait and see.
Thanks for the vid. Well done. Now I have to tear in to my blown 690. Mind if I ask, what is that engine stand on the bench you used ?
@@WorldCommander thanks mate it’s a Motorsport engine stand from the Mx store it’s been a good thing. You can buy them online anywhere I’m pretty sure 👍
Thanks for the interesting video. Whereabouts are you based?
@@robg6485 Thanks mate I’m in Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺
@rechargegarage8705 Great, thanks for the reply. How can i contact you if i want some help with my RD400?
@@robg6485 hey Rob you can email me at krauszy@hotmail.com 👍
My RD 400 Had Twin Discs On The Front.
Painful
great job as always lad nice bike that one keep up the great work next video please
@rechargegarage8705 The bike looks Great! I have a similar bike, Is the red paint job and graphics standard for 1979 models?
@@chrisjamieson9300 hey mate I’m pretty sure it’s been repainted and it’s not the correct colour but the owner of the bike is going to repaint in the correct red.👍
Good job on the pump rebuild. A very doable project for most RD owners. A couple of suggestions: 1. Be careful with the small pins that engage the gear ring. They can pop out, get lost, and ruin your day. 2. Don't lose the thrust washer on the pump drive shaft when you remove the pump from the engine. 3. Add a few drops of two cycle oil to help the seals slip into the pump body. 4. Watch your seal orientation carefully during disassembly. Take a picture or two as you go, so you can check your work. 5. It is a good idea to check the oil outlet springs and balls while you have the pump apart. Cheap to replace, if needed. Parts still available from Yamaha. Great idea for using clear tubing on the oil lines. The Yamaha autolube pumps work reliably well if maintained, providing the correct amount of oil based on engine speed and throttle position, rather than pre mix, which is either too rich at idle, or too lean at high rpm. Use a good quality two stroke oil and your pump will run reliably for many years.
@@Scott-ph2yk great advice Scott thanks mate 👍 it’s been a long time since I had one of those oil pumps apart was a bit of a refresher.
Is it not safer to premix the fuel and bypass the oilpump because the next time the oilpump give up your engine could be damaged
@@marcswinnen9100 hi Marc yes all my bikes are premixed I’m not a fan of oil pumps to be honest.👍
Ah... No !. Bearings need pure oil and two stroke mix with oil. Both.
I love the color 😊
Should have twin front discs
That's NOT aluminium ... It's METAL !!! THINK ABOUT THAT COMMENT !
Well spotted😂
I’ve had a couple of these bikes, and became very familiar With them. I used to be able to strip my 250LC down to the crankshaft in half an hour. Having the crank vases split horizontally was a good idea. It’s a shame the bike didn’t come with the standard pipes, although our experience, the Kenny Roberts replicas came with e from new (ugh - horrible things!). I had a tuner race-tune my 250. It flew but got through petrol faster than 20mpg😬. You
Very nice bike all the best from England
@@grahamhider3754 Thanks Graham going to enjoy leaving some smoke trails behind me this summer. Cheers 👍
Good video, I like the way you demonstrated your diagnostic skills. I have owned and rebuilt the older air cooled RD's, and I own a YPVS which I have rebuilt. (We never got the LC in the US.) Two things jumped out at me from your video. 1. Why was the right cylinder head dry? 2. What caused the big end bearing to fail? This could be an oil problem, an air leak problem, or a coolant leak problem. Be sure to look for clues as you dismantle the engine. Trust your observations, I think you will get it sorted out.😊 Be sure to leak down test the reassembled engine for air leaks, particularly, the carb boots and intakes. A little extra work, but well worth it. Looking forward to seeing the next video.
@@Scott-ph2yk thanks Scott, in the next video I will be looking into why this has happened as we don’t want this to damage the new engine, thanks again for the advice, cheers 👍
That Blue Honda in the background brought some nice memories, had one of those when I was 15, so in the later half of the 70's Cool thing with the "window" for the clutch, don't know if it will be of any use, but yeah, your build, your decision 😊😊
It’s rooted I’ll get rid of it for him
No chain guard. Seat foam really needs to be flush with the tail sides to look right. Would have been good to see how you aligned the swingarm after chopping it in half.
Bores not seen conrod little end not seen. Hoping for a bit more detailed probable cause analysis in next vid.
Lots of them seized ..... over size new bore , new pistons rings, rods, crank rebuild ...off she goes 😂😂😂
Sweet bike love a 350lc
When your getting paid by the minute lol
That's Gold 😂 yeah he definitely padded out this video 😅😂😂
@@alanbirch9663 well the video went for 22 mins so that’s a pretty good deal for that much work?
Cranks used to go on the air cooled rd 250's before the lc. Went on my bike 250 E. After I sold it. 1980
Pissed 'n' Broke. A fried of mine was just putting a new crank in a KH250 when I said to him "you know you've got bubbles in the autolube pipe, looks to me as you have an oil pump failure.
great job lad the joj ov 2 bangers could have been worse next video please
