North Wales is one of Britain's most beautiful regions.
With an abundance of excellent travel destinations covering a relatively small area.
Road signs will welcome you in both Welsh and in English greeting you as you enter the country and bear witness to the warm, inviting hospitality of the Welsh people.
The North Wales coastal roads offer a tremendous variety of scenery. Add to this its numerous large open stretches of sandy beaches and lively resorts, scenic rugged cliffs, quaint fishing villages, and countless secluded bays, and it's not difficult to understand why North Wales is among the most popular places to visit in the United Kingdom.
Wales seems just that little more wild than England - and maybe not quite as wild as parts of Scotland.
One of of the best known and most beautiful parts of Wales is, of course Snowdonia with its rugged peaks and green hills. The region has the feeling of being a primeval and ancient wonderland.
In Snowdonia you will find the highest mountain in Wales, Snowdon which stands 1,085 meters tall and has for centuries attracted climbers and walkers.
Mount Snowdon has six different paths to take you up and down the mountain, all varying in terrain, difficulty and length.
Snowdonia boasts a varied network of public footpaths which is great for those who want to experience the region on foot. The coastline also has some lovely walking paths which will help you make the most of the spectacular views out to sea.
North Wales doesn't have a shortage of lovely small towns and villages. One very famous destination and one of the most unique places to visit in all of the UK is Portmeirion near Snowdonia.
It was designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975 in the style of an old Italian village. Portmeirion has served as the location for numerous films and television shows, most famously as "The Village" in the 1960s television show The Prisoner.
But let's head back to the coast.
The Llyn Peninsula - Wales at its most mystical and magical is unmistakably Wales. With Snowdonia guarding its landward edge, The Llyn has the feel of an island, and a beautiful one at that.
The Llyn's beaches come in all flavours - small sandy coves or wide surfing expanses, some with dunes, others with cliffs.
You cannot properly explore the Llyn Peninsula without a stay. Fortunately, Llyn cottages are plentiful and they make perfect bases for a holiday as do the friendly hotels, bed and breakfasts, caravan parks.
