sounds fabulous. thanks.
Gregg's violin, by far the best!
The Strat floats my boat.
Just incredible.
sounds good, please show the instrument in detail...Thank you!!!
nice...
Sounds great please show the violin craftmanship...Thank you!!
I love the sound ,it would be nice if you show the violin back front and scroll in your videos...Thank you!!!
Some modern violins sound so good, i think the makers found the key to a great sound....Thank you!!!
the first one more my style...dark strong g...Thank you!!!
Really nice. Thank you!!!
Glad you like it!
I actually liked the Strad model much more - even though I normally prefer the sound from a Guad / Guarneri model! I might prefer playing the latter more though as I prefer to blend in than stand out when playing! Edit: I just listened to this again 2 weeks later and enjoyed the Guadagnini model more! 😂Certainly 2 very nice instruments!!
Ariel, nice comparison! Very nice Recording! The comments are great fun to read! Did you know that I have worked with Gregg Alf & Joe Curtin in 1990 when they had their workshop together in Ann Arbor? And Alessandro di Matteo when he arrived to Cremona (he is from Russia of I remember correctly) worked for me during his studies…..
I heard that the il cannone strings are extra thick and they buzz if the grooves in the bridge are not large enough for them. Is this true?
My fave! Just think what it will sound like when it's broken in!
The Guadagnini has a deep dark sound that is instantly compelling. It seems to have the requisite overtones and more. It is difficult to say which has better projection.
As soon as he pulled out that shoulder rest…. 🤢
2:44 str 3:21 gua
Amazing sounding cello!
Thank you!
I enjoyed this video… I suppose price is not advertised? I preferred the Peccate Shop bow, though the specific maker should be identifiable
PS you didn’t discuss Snakewood or Abeille.
Ignore weight. I learned that weight is not only irrelevant, a great bow feels excellent regardless of weight. One of the greatest cello bows I ever played was an Euchard that weighed 86 grams instead of the typical 80. Ignore weight, it doesn’t really matter

I usually like Guadagnini and Guarneri over Stradivarius copies, but with these violins I just love them both (Guadagnini and Stradivarius). I think I'd take Stradivarius for versatility from these, but I would prefer to have them both and occasionally dig out the Guadagnini for even more drama. What fine work from Elina Kaljunen and great playing from the MyLuthier violinst.
Wonderful advice once again. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
agree. an excellent sounding violin.
1, 3 then 2 bringing up the rear I think. Violin 2 sounds more muted and harder to play. Violin 3 would be PERFECT for 4tet playing, and the Sibelius would be a joy on violin 1. Nice one, thank you for posting. 🎶🌟👍
Completely agree with this!
Very responsive and even in sound. You sounded better on this instrument than most others.
Fantastic sound, 😍😍… Clear and full… absolutely remarkable.
Thank you, we agree! 🙏

What a fine violin and nice playing. I like it very much that you make these available, it helps me understand the differences in expression that are available in different violins. Please don't take them away after you sell your violins -- these are a beautiful resource for all people interested in violins.
Glad you like them!
All four of these violins each have a wonderful sound, and played by a very talented musician. In my humble as an amature, I think perhaps the Strad has the edge. Thank you for making this video.
Wow, thank you!
powerful, beautiful varnish, do you have the sales link?
Thank you! You can find out more information on our website at: www.myluthier.co/product/atelier-myluthier-violin-london-2024-2
That’s a very fine violin, I love its tone.
Jacobus stainer in absam prope oenipontum 17small65 made in Zeeslslokeyea pegbox violion deatails and price please tell me sir
Beautiful stunning from someone who can just about play chop-sticks
Very interesting and gud fusion by the violin author played well by you Ariel! Greetings from Arian!
They all sound the same to me! I can't pick up any differences whatsoever! I don't think one can really tell by listening over a video device such as a laptop, a desktop, a tablet or a phone. Too many variables such as one's device speakers and audio circuitry interfere with the truely live acoustic properties created by bows and instruments. Instead, one has to actually pick up the bows in trying to make a choice and experience the feel, responsiveness and function of each of them as well hearing the resultant sound production with one's own ears. The qualities of the sound they produce must also be weighed against personal experiences and personal preferences cannot reliably be captured and relayed through a video-audio recording accurately enough to discriminate among certain fine differences.
Really interesting sounds from these strings. I'm using Virtuoso soloist on my Viola (new so a bit on the bright side even if powerful). Do you have any plans to make Cannone gold for viola? PS the viola A is just so beautifully adaptable.
One feature you skipped on was the price range that they would go for…. That can be a determining factor! LOL
They are both same price!
If you are a Bat you might hear the difference LOL
Guadagnini
I liked the lyrical sound of the Strad Model, particularly the way it responded to vibrato. I liked the bold sound of the Guad Model, and it might be better suited to large concert Halls and more modern styles of music. It sounded a little sterile to me. Thanks
How does a luthier make two violins with different sound qualities? What are the factors that determine how each fiddle sounds? Are they strung with the same strings?
I like the Guadagnini better but that is merely because it identifies more closely with what I would be looking for in an instrument. That said, I really wish I had the money to buy both. These are both exceptionally good instruments by every measure.
Guad 🥇
I'm a Guadagnini fan. Deeper richer sound. This video was very informative and your selection of Bruch really helped demonstrate what can be for me, difficult to differentiate. I liked the Guadagnini so much I created an account to see the price. You are what you purport in that it is a fine instrument at a more than reasonable price. Than you so much for this content.
I'm just listening on my cell phone. But from what I'm hearing on my phone, I prefer the Strad. I like the bit of edge sparkle that I hear on the G and D strings. 😊
Thanks for sharing!
The Guadagnini model definitely my style...more rounded body...the Stradivarius to bright...Thank you for the video...!
Good choice!
Absolutely wonderful video , you showcase the differences perfectly. In my personal the Guadagnini sound wins on the microphone but on a big stage would be absolutely interesting to hear which one sounds fuller. Magnificent work:)
Thank you very much! It's always fun to compare two fantastic instruments!
