A.B.A isn’t an FMA reference. They are both references to alchemical concepts that the mangaka did NOT invent. Even the giant tree of life on the gate of truth in the manga and anime is a wholesale copy of the actual cover of a published alchemical book from the 17th century or so. A.B.A premiered the same year or just after FMA started serialisation aka before it even hit peak popularity or had completely showcased the alchemical concepts in its own verse. Even the name Hohenheim is copied, it simply references the actual name of the father of alchemy IRL. A.B.A and Paracelsus’ designs are referencing the alchemical concept of the Red King and White Queen, which are the metaphorical names given to the elements sulfur and mercury respectively. Mercury is even mentioned to be present in A.B.A’s blood. Paracelsus’ battle moniker was known as the Sanguine Gale aka the Blood Gale, on top of his original Moroha head being a demonic looking goat skull, all bringing to mind sulfur. Alchemy believes that a sulfuric element is volatile and active, and acts on the passive Mercury aka how Paracelsus used to infect A.B.A with his bloodlust especially in Moroha and Goku Moroha mode. In STRIVE, the dynamic has been flipped, with Paracelsus now being passive and literally goop that is reshaped by A.B.A’s will. This is referenced in the form Paracelsus takes in his Overdrive, which has the name Azoth etched into his head. Azoth being another name for mercury.

The return of Zappa (or any similar one-game characters) is pretty bleak, yeah. It is Daisuke we're talking about, I'm sure he could find a way to bring some really old characters back, like he did with Aba. But my hopes of seeing Leopaldon taking 3/4 of my screen in Strive are pretty much impossible...

Sorry if this is long, but I am very passionate about this game, and love the game play, but not the story so much. For me Catherine is really a game about a man's trauma with a lot of the men in game, but let's focus on Vincent. Vincent is a man who in the past was abandoned by his mother in highschool to run away to be with her lover. He has no idea who his father was his whole life, and even couldn't eat some days, due this his mother not being around anymore, since she feed him and was a kid, but Katherine feed him some days knowing of his situation. YET-As a adult she is so baffled by talks of family or having a child, that Vincent doesn't want to go forward with. Like I get it she is a woman who wants to settle down, but her partner clearly suffers from his own trauma, that she knows about, but thinks for some odd reason, that he got over it in adulthood???? Like that's not how that works. When you are a kid who suffers with that kind of thing in your life that never goes away. It stays with you until you talk about it, and move on from it on your own. This might be controversial but Vincent was r*ped by Catherine, and how the game is about males being in that situation is so horrifying to me. In the game Vincent doesn't remember sleeping with Catherine at all or when she comes over. But Erica says even if he doesn't remember it still cheating. GIRL!? WHAT? The game tells you that Vincent doesn't even remember each time he sleeps with her and plays it like a joke. The only time he dose remember is in the morning of one of the days in the game, where yeah he is cheating lets be real. But Vincent was put in that situation due to the end game's reveal, which his so disgusting to me when you know, that the creator said, that the game's world is set in a mix with American and Japanese views. But near the ending game was like, "Nah, you didn't make a kid. You needed to reproduce, due to low population. So this is your hell." WHICH IS NOT A THING IN AMERICA AT ALL! And if you think I am wrong this is what boss says, "When there are people like you who spend a long amount of time with a partner with out commitment. It impedes the population model...The rate of population growth is less then optimal..." So it is about making kids. Rate of population growth. Not about cheating men. But men who can't settle down and make kids. And when you know one of the people at the bar you have the option to safe who is in the same nightmare day cycle as Vincent is in. Well, as the days pass he tells Vincent/the player he was SA by there mom and suffers from being in relationships because of that past he dealt with. It feels so gross they put that in. As well as Erica having the nightmares as well for well...to make a long story short for being trans and not able to make a kid/Not telling Toby they are trans. This game is a mess with it's story and choices. Honestly, it's baffling to me that people keep saying Vincent was in the wrong, but honestly both Kat and Catherine are horrible relationship wise. Kat for not caring about Vincent's mental health/past for her own future to settle down, and Catherine who put him in that situation cause it was her job as a demon to do so. Which is why the true ending of him in space/freedom ending took a while but feels so canon to him. He is free, away from his relationship that was a sign it was not going to work out, and those that used him. A moment of peace and safety. Also side note to be clear Kat having a kid I do not think she lied about it, cause false results in test do happen. I will never fault her for all that, and the fear and other things that puts on a woman, but the other stuff. She was pretty bad for. Which I do not think even the creators of the game even mean to do. It feels oddly gross to males in a odd way. Sorry I am rambling now. I will end it here and say I am enjoying your videos so far, and I am going to watch more tonight.

Honestly I thought the game was fun when I first played it. Sure, it was a blatant cash grab and had it's issues, but the concept and story I thought was still pretty enjoyable. Wouldn't mind seeing a remake with the issues fixed.

Chipp's otter in ggst, called Dodomezaki, is one of May's marine animal minions or something, summoned by her to assist Chipp. i don't... really know why May thought Chipp needed help from an otter, specifically, but eh. it's not like Dodomezaki's important to her moveset or anything and Chipp is probably gonna need some help when the resident glue sniffer comes by for a bit of fun. and, honestly, i don't really like most fighting games either, but Bedman was so silly i just HAD to try guilty gear out. but i tried strive, not xrd, because i wanted a game with an english dub.(and i liked Bridget and Goldlewis who both weren't in xrd) extremely good, btw. i may not be good at the game, but hell, i can have a lot of fun with it. and honestly? i'm glad i went with strive. because A.B.A and Slayer, two characters who both weren't in xrd, are in strive, and are really fun in strive. look, i'm as surprised as you are that a brain damaged fool like me can play A.B.A, but i dunno, it's a very simple bar to manage. smack 'em real hard, get bar. use move, spend bar to dragon dance essentially. use the special bar-only special move to dunk on 'em, and then when you're low on bar, use the overdrive to finish 'em off

A.B.A. and Paracelsus manipulated each other, their Strive story is realizing this. when Aba found Para he manipulated her with his magic into seeing him as a key so he could have a vessel for his violence, but Aba got so attached to him he got uncomfortable and it was a really weird relation ship. in strive Aba's affection had worn down Para and he had corrupted her with his want for bloodshed, this is when Aba finally realizes they aren't good for one another, but through communicating with Para they both realize if they communicate and work together their quite a team, so instead of breaking up they decide to start over and take the relationship slow... whatever that means for a homunculus and a battle axe forged of ancient evil.
