Welcome to the Jargar Strings UA-cam channel - here you can find videos about everything concerning strings and bowed instruments. We will focus on string teaching - technique, instruments, strings, methods and much more.
About 1950 Danish cellist Jarl Hansen wanted more from his cello than gut strings could provide. As a member of the Royal Danish Opera Orchestra he became increasingly interested in string quality and sound, and for years he experimented in his spare time - until 1956, when he was ready to start his own company, Jargar Strings.
What Jarl Hansen developed was a steel core based string, wound with thin threads of pure or alloyed metal. These new strings had a warm and brilliant tone and furthermore much greater stability, durability and strength than gut strings. These qualities quickly made Jargar strings highly popular throughout the classical music world and still Jargar provides musicians around the world with handmade, powerful and uniquely responsive strings.

When will it make its way to Asia? Taiwan specifically. I have been wanting to try since it came out. I asked every single store, none have in stock.
Thank you very much for your message. We have been pushing our customers in Taiwan to take in the new Evoke Violin set we hope that they will have them in stock soon. We will contact them again to see if we can get some sets shipped to Taiwan as soon as possible so you are able to purchase them locally. Best regards, Erik Jargar Strings ApS
@@JargarStringsApS Thank you Erik, I checked in with local shops twice a week. Finally, there is one that sells it. Gonna get myself a set.
What are the materials of the strings, and how do they differ from a standard set?
It is a synthetic core set with a tinplated steel core E. The winding materials are A aluminum, D and G pure silver. The strings are absolutely to the more brilliant side sound wise. We have created a very powerful set where you still have the possibility to modulate the sound. The set has a very fast bow response and it is very easy to play. We hope this gives you an idea of the set.
I'd like to see how she uses her left pinkie in the high positions without turning her left arm....but we get no playing demonstration. Also, notice how she raises her shoulders when showing without the violin...."It hurts"....unnecessary with the right guidance and physical know-how, which Alexander provides. I have the feeling that she worships Menuhin's violin "tutoring" videos....hope I'm wrong.
Funny...she starts off pointing out the importance of balance, but then suggests putting more weight one leg than the other! Never good....if one can't play the violin in a well-balanced state, then there is a problem with one's playing, and no number of Menuhin's little tricks and games will fix that. If you really want to learn how to use your body, with or without the violin, get into Alexander technique!
Dear Jascha, Thank you very much for your comments. I think it is interesting to know and learn from your comments. It shows very clearly that there is not one truth when it comes to violin technique. Everybody has their way of doing it and explaining it. The intention with these videos wasn't to give "the truth" but to show possible ways of working with your violin technique. We wanted at Jargar in fact to make more videos with different professors to give different alternatives but it turned out to be difficult to find violin professors who wanted to participate. We haven't given up on the idea to have other tutorials with other professors to come up with more insights in violin technique. Once more thank you very much for whatching the videos and take your time to comment on them. With best regards, Erik Jargar Strings ApS
At 2:24 you can see he's playing on those other Danish strings for the A and D. What's up with that??
Dear Kevin - you are right. The short video clip you do see with other strings on is a very old video that edited into this video from a period where Johannes was playing another string brand that he does today. I know it looks a bit strange but we hadn't thought about when we did upload the video. Best regards, Erik/Jargar Strings
Really deeply feeling musician, pleasure to listen to him!
I heard this boy playing Dvořák'S Violoncello konzert on 15th March 2022. With BBSO it was perhaps the best performance of that piece I know. One of the best cellists nowadays!
In Australia if you rent a violin you end up paying three times the cost of the instrument :/
Nice video.🔔
thank you for the video! i am wondering that lowering the bridge would affect the volume of the instrument?
Just a small correction The wood for the top should be “spruce”, (it’s “pinewood” in the subtitles) seems a small difference but it changes a lot acoustically. Very nice video.
