I have never seen tripe baked, it only takes a few minutes on the stove top. The texture should be a bit like calamari and the taste should be mild with the white sauce balancing the flavour. I think you should try it cook by a chef before you give up on tripe.😂
Nice video Mike. Thank you for sharing 👍 #3 👍
I appreciate you going through the English castles and videoing them, I'm in the US so I am a bit far to visit easily. I'll make sure and check some more out. Also it threw me off where Simon looked completely different at the start of the video compared to the second half when you both are inside the pub. I gathered there were 2 visits, December of 2023 and June of 2024, good job on the editing work, it was pretty seamless.
Thanks Joe, good to hear from an overseas viewer.
Nice vid. I do have two questions. What was the apple stuffing made of. I was also curious about the potatoes. You cooked them before adding to the pan.
Hi Busy Bob. The stuffing was simply Paxo Sage and onion stuffing from the packet mixed with water. My wife thought the potatoes needed to be softened a bit before adding to the roast so they were boiled for about 20 minutes beforehand. Thanks for watching
@@mikeMCSG I am a (or was pre covid) a professional cook. Now I am professional disabled. I live in North Carolina. USA I see that stuffing can be had on Amazon. We have here as the most popular stuffing's called "stove top stuffing". I read its blocked for sale there and in almost all of Europe. Its not found to be healthy. As to the tatters. Its not necessary to precook. But is a cooks choice! OH. It was decided to not peel the apples. I was curious about that as well. I don't personally care for the peels. I miss cooking. Thanks.
Simon makes me smile. I needed something cheerful today. Please make more vids!
Hi Busy Bob. We'll keep going as long as I'm fit and able. Simon is very therapeutic for me too ! Thanks for watching
Well done
Great video. How many miniature railways are there in the UK?
Good question. I honestly don't know . A very rough guess would be around 300 but there are issues around definition. I mean we've covered a couple of land trains which I think most real enthusiasts would dispute. Then there are sites like Preston which use a full size engine on a very small section of track. Conversely the Ravenglass and Eskdale has small engines but maintains a regular passenger service over 10 miles . We just cover as many as we can in the relatively short season in which most of them operate.
I enjoy your videos
Thank you. Hope we can continue entertaining you ! M & S
Wow. Interesting.
Nice video, Mike!
Keep up the good work guys ❤
Great to see a father and son making these videos together 👍🏻
Thanks for your kind words. M & S
Great video!🎉
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you both for the great footage. 😄
Our pleasure 😀
Its eaten raw with vinegar.... so I've been told . Only way I've had it tripe milk salt and unions boil it in a pan and eat it😢
These are beautiful
Amazing grappling Simon!
he sounds exactly like Frank Sidebottom
Title kinda sums up life lol
Now I know how not to cook tripe and onions.
My grandparents lived in Levens village in the sixties and early seventies. Nostalgia 😊
Just came across your channel now! You have a very relaxing voice and I’ve subscribed! Seán in Ireland
Thanks for dropping by Sean and for your kind words. WE have Irish ancestry but both born in England.
Thankyou interesting as on my family tree my great grandma was grave storey and she descends from John Barrow Storey who I believe was a tenant caretaker of the farm back in 1790 (ish) so interesting thanks 🙏🏾
Thanks for that Nicola. Glad you're enjoying our channel.
you've over cooked it, no seasoning in it, no salt and vinegar.....
tripe is yummy, serve with mash and peas.... you don't put it in the oven.... to thicken a betchamel sauce you bring the pan to a rolling boil.......... dear god...
I live around there
Can’t cook, don’t cook!
Just watching this now. Looks like some really good walks, although I can't place exactly where you are. I'll be checking these footpaths out on the maps. I'm in Tottington so not miles away.
Hi John , thanks for droping by . Apart from BOL 119 which is north of Smithills , the others are just off Stich-Mi-Lane near the border with Bury. Hope that helps !
Classic father & son duo😁👍...I can't stand it either😁
Thanks
And that people os NOT how you cook tripe
Hello both, you have brought back many happy memories of my childhood. I was lucky enough to be able to visit friends and enjoy the place. No problems with video Simon. 🤣
Thank you. I take it the hall was a private residence then ?
Yes, the Home of the Bishop of Carlisle then it became a private school and later it became an agricultural training centre. @@mikeMCSG

Nice video! I've subscribed! I'm also visiting every miniature railway in the UK. I published Episode 66 last Sunday. As for slowest train, try Lodmoor Park in Weymouth! That is very slow!
Hi Henry , looking forward to visiting your channel. You will probably complete the set before us though !😀
@@mikeMCSG Thank you! Not sure about that. There's about 350 on my list!
Very tasty for sure!
