When it happened to me I had never seen it before. I haven’t had it happen since. If it works consistently it might be possible to use it as a strategy, but by the time you are good enough to do it reliably, you’re probably able to win Punchout without it.

I disagree. It isn’t a massive nerf and it isn’t going to change the characters I’m light rolling on, but that extra 5% distance statistically adds up when you’re dodging waterfowls day in and day out.

I’m not sure how to determine exact distance in Elden Ring, but it’s about half of one of those squares I’m standing on near Malenia’s lair. It’s a major nerf considering how much you have to give up to light roll.

The lag was incredible. The host was either on another planet or running Elden Ring on a Texas Instruments calculator from 1992. She would only take damage or flinch 45 seconds minimum after she was hit. The video is only the last ten minutes of it and missed the craziest stuff. The whole thing took about thirty minutes. Why the game didn’t just disconnect us, I don’t know. I should have just cut out, but I’m a masochist, I guess.

I wish I could. I only use the native game capture software in Windows and it only goes back ten minutes (when it actually works at all).

Hey, thanks! Glad you liked it. Pulling off a parry when a host is lagging is spotty at best. You just have to predict her move to land some. As far as I'm not getting damaged when I parried but she didn't recoil, I think the game is constantly trying to rectify discrepancies between host and guests. If his host system disagrees with my system (ie. to him I missed the parry but to me I landed it) it just calls it a tie and her attack passes through me harmlessly while my parry just doesn't parry. This is all a guess though, but an educated one. I think by ‘whirl attack’ you’re referring to her Waterfowl Dance. Using a Brass Shield upgraded heavily improves the stability. That combined with a high stamina and it’s not too hard to block. By moving back and right it usually redirects the third flurry so you’re only really blocking the first flurry. If you're having trouble try the ash of war Barricade.

I have some pointers that might help. 1) Control the fight. Go to her, don’t let her meander over to you. This way you know when she’s attacking because she always will initiate if you’re really close to her. This makes parries a little more predictable. 2) She has one attack (a double swipe usually followed by a jump back) that is really tough to parry as the attack is around 120 milliseconds. In the video I missed one of those. It’s more feasible to roll or block that attack. A way I practiced was keeping my shield up when close to her until I saw which attack was coming. This would prevent the damage from that crazy fast double swipe and the other attacks that aren't so crazy fast would give me a shot at dropping my shield and parrying. 3) Super ultra focus. If your mind wanders at all you’ll almost certainly be late to parry the 120 milliseconds-ish attack. You can’t think of anything, not even something else in the fight that might be later. You have to be in the zone and her right arm must be the only thing in your world that exists. Her other attacks aren’t nearly as brutal to parry. 4) Play to your strengths. If you’ve got a few of her attacks down pat, bait those and dodge the others. Parry startup frames matter. There are three attacks she uses I call 'easy': she glides left and attacks, she glides right and attacks, and she stands in position and does a 360 attack. Get to know these and you can parry most of the attacks she will throw at you when you're close to her. Mastering those three is key to getting her down via parry/ripostes. 5) The Ash of War Golden Parry is your best friend. This let's you parry her even as she's swinging and dashing at you before she's in standard parry range. It majorly helps with startup frames as well on medium shields. 6) Parry timings are like DS3. The window to parry attacks in ER is a lot like DS3. Right as the weapon is moving toward you, just before it hits is when the parry window is. I started to make a video about this but someone already did it better than I probably could have: ua-cam.com/video/D8fn54tcswc/v-deo.html 7) Phase two isn't as different as it may seem. The punish windows from her attacks are fewer but there's one attack she does far more during phase two that's ripe for parrying: the 3+1 slash she throws out if you're at medium range. She does it in phase one as well but she seems to do it more in phase two, especially if she jumps into the air and when she lands her weapon doesn't hit the ground. She will almost always use it and it's an easy parry if you've trained yourself to look for it (it has a unique visual and audio cue). Her wings make phase two more annoying for sure as they're distracting and can cover up her character model but it just takes practice to get used to them. 8) Don't be greedy. Don't trade blows with her. More than two attacks is very risky regardless of her phase. Be patient and wait for the attacks you know you can parry or punish. If you do this enough, you'll win. I’ll add some more here when I think of them.
