Part of me now wishes the guys who do South park would actually tackle an episode or even two-parter on FF14. And unlike the WoW episode, actually let it be played straight/emotionally to show they can do such a story/ect. without going full crass humor 24/7. And also because there is MORE than enough content in the game to poke fun at that they could do a trilogy or more on that alone before Cartman can do even one thing that breaks the Geneva Convention as per usual.

Re: Mods. I do not mod. Sure, some mods unarguably do not affect gameplay - but those are few and the argument that they are skin theft does exist. But that's not why. I don't mod because of doohickeys like that one. Exactly like that, actually! I mean, it's nothing you couldn't get from a third party website or your own experience. It's just ... easier. And that's why I am against it personally. You do not determine the challenge level of a multiplayer game. The game designers do. If you use a tool to make it easier, you're cheating. Doesn't matter how benign or innocuous, you are gaining access to information in-game that you would normally have to deduce or find elsewhere. That level of separation is a game mechanic and you are circumventing it. Thus, it's cheating. HOWEVER. It doesn't change anything about anyone else's game experience. It doesn't give you a competitive advantage (well, except in a community event, in which case I say refer to the event rules instead). It doesn't impact the multiplayer experience in any way. The only person you're cheating is yourself. So if you're comfortable with a little "light cheating" as part of your goal, then I see no problem with it. I'm always fine with modding or cheating in singleplayer, and in multiplayer environments where everyone agrees to the changes. That's part of playing a game, everyone agrees on the rules. For fishing, which is a solitaire game, you don't have to agree with anyone on the rules. You decide if it's cheating. You decided that it isn't and that's okay. Just don't use the doohickey to catch a fish then enter a competition with it where the doohickey isn't allowed, that is cheating - you are literally breaking the agreed-upon rules. I am forced to assume GatherBuddy was allowed by the rules.

Tools are basically a must have for the big fish. The requirements for that first one alone show how ridiculous they can get. How the heck are people able to figure this out on their own?

Personally I think gather buddy is fine. Just make sure you aren't showing it off in streams so you don't have some jerk trying to get you banned for it.

FFXIV is my all-time favorite game. Are there things that could be improved on? Yes. That doesn't change the fact I've had so much fun playing the game with amazing people. I take breaks and come back everytime.

I too have played XIV for 3 years. I am in HW with 135 days of playtime. I hope this information has caused you mental anguish.

I have to be honest now, having played FFXIV since release on and off... the story is just... pretentious. It takes a lot of words to get across even the simplest concepts through constant cutscenes that would make Metal Gear Solid 4 blush. I think people are actually starting to see the cracks in FFXIV that I have seen for years (yes, even with the "beloved" shadowbringers). FFXIV is just not capable of doing NEW things... they rely constantly on referencing older (and better imo) games in the series, the whole FFXIV story up to Endwalker was essentially a more plodding and pedantic version of FFIX's story about the value of life. As a fan of series from 1 - 10, these constant references come across more as annoying fanservice then actually telling a coherent story. I mean, they do TRY to add new elements but it just gets lost in a sea of forgettable callbacks to other games. Don't even get me started with the whole "Ancient Anime Waifu gets emo and destroys the universe"... I think my eyes couldn't roll back any further. Dawntrail has proven that they have no idea what they were doing with the game. I think they should knock it on it's head and go back to doing quality entries in the series like 7, 8, 9 and 10 were because every game since FF10 has been a mess in one way or another. FFXIV will forever be an example of how to make people emotion while giving them a straight up inferior product.

So I very much disagree with you saying you seemingly accomplished so little after you spent 3 years playing and making all those memories. You spent minutes listing many things you did do and accomplish. So no, you seemed to have done a lot and I am glad to hear about it. Your story was touching and told in a great and funny manner.
