I was lucky enough to help record Sir Anthony Hopkins for a voice over for the movie Alexander. He sat down at one of our grand pianos and expertly played some beautiful tunes. Turns out he had also written said tunes! I didn't know he was an artist as well; that dude has so many talents! He is an awesome guy too. He invited me to the set of a movie he was shooting called the World's Fastest Indian. I went out to the set a few days later and he remembered my name and introduced me to the director and his lady friend (wife perhaps?). That left such an impression on me. I've since worked with a number of big names, but its rare to find someone that talented who is also a super down-to-Earth, thoughtful person. Thanks for the inspiration, Tony!

It seems these actors paintings need to be talked up. A good painting does the talking for itself. I believe in the case of celebrity's paintings the public is buying an autograph with a painting attached to it. And they all do that rapid kind of art with the violent brushstrokes and smears, as if by feeling a certain way while doing the painting the painting itself will take on that emotion telepathically. And all the self portraits that don't look like them, like maybe they are trying to imitate that tormented suffering artist thing. Painting is a communication tool. Like speech, constantly yelling is not a good technique. Sloppy is not loose. Distortion is not style. Distortion being abused to hide that they never learned how to draw in perspective. I was harsh here. I haven't looked at much of these guys artwork. Stallone's looked ok. I've seen some good stuff by Johnny Depp. Good luck to them.

The fine art world is a shallow place. Talent and image has little to do with fame. It is a inside game that if you have a in you can get a show and it doesn’t help if you have a recognizable name.
