CONTAINER CABIN CONDENSATION. What do We Do Now? Tiny Home Problem?
Thank you for watching. We have been using bandaids basically to help limit condensation in our cabin. Seems to be a very common challenge in tiny homes. Yes the bandaids to help but might be time to do some more permanent changes to help out.

    How can I get a shipping container?

    • @NoRulesLife
      @NoRulesLife День тому

      If you are looking for an empty container a search online should give you options near you. They are normally easy to find due to being used to deliver products around the world. We got ours from Jenco Sales (jencosales.com). I am sure they can delivery about anywhere. Thanks for watching!

    Sir, I have visited your UA-cam channel for a long time. Your channel's video SEO score is not very good. Due to which the videos are not reaching the audience, the videos should be SEO by Rank Tag #1 and the videos should be promoted in your video related groups. By doing this you will get viewers and subscribers. I can say 100%.

    Pour some concrete in the ground with some hooks and you can also hurricane proof it by strapping it to the ground

    • @NoRulesLife
      @NoRulesLife 5 днів тому

      We actually have cables anchored about 4 feet into the ground at all four corners. Surprisingly those have not budged even with two different trees falling over onto the cabin. What I would like to do is pour footers with concrete one day and anchor each corner to that. Similar to what you said. Thanks for the comment and watching.

    First: Where does the Water come from? Answer: It is coming from YOU! Humans normally sweat, and more than this humans breathe! And this is the whole source of the condensation problem. And because such containers are like a plastic bottle, the water cannot diffuse out. No chance. This is a typical flaw of any container cabin. The only way to prevent condensation is to heat it with an AC! An AC condensates the water out of the air and lets it out through a hose. But you need a proper AC for this job. Nothing from a Walmart outsell. Another failure with your cabin is the amount of plastic and lacquered surfaces. They are totally BS! You need Cedar full wood. Wood can suck water quickly, and give it away afterward. So the humidity curve in your air can flatten out smoother. A proper AC does the rest! It´s not easy to live in a plastic bag, but there is a solution: A proper AC!

    • @NoRulesLife
      @NoRulesLife 6 днів тому

      Great info thanks for that. I actually opened a different window last night out there and had ZERO condensation with temps in the upper 20's. That was a great improvement. What do you mean by heat it with AC? Got any examples you can share of those?

    • @NoRulesLife

    There is no venting? If you had a heating and cooling source that used fresh air?

    • @NoRulesLife
      @NoRulesLife 8 днів тому

      Actually something I did not mention in the video (that whole hindsight thing). We do crack a window while we are there. Then run the AC on Fan only when it is cold and then AC + the fan when it is warm. This will filter in fresh air. But really want to find something that is a better permanent vent. I will keep researching. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

    first watched this today, at the posted '9 months ago' mark...after seeing the windows for safety... i would HAVE to also have a locking the doors open somehow... IF someone wanted to do a deadly prank [especially, if no cell service in shipping container] .... all anyone has to do....is shut the doors, while you are sleeping... and lock it.... STUCK inside! even a 4x4x4" little blocked drilled into the wood deck both sides, near container, [tripping device though] when ya open and close down the container...that would be a peace of mind for me. Looks great other than that. 😀

    • @NoRulesLife

      @ Thanks for the feedback. So you feel insulating the floor is a bad idea? Or heating the floor? I can tell you with certainty i will not heat the floor but did want to insulate it.

    • @bernhardmichaelfux308
      @bernhardmichaelfux308 5 днів тому

      @ Insulating the floor is always a proper idea! Or better: It´s a must! But plz not with this shitty bubblewrap-foil with one silvery side! They are for nothing. You need at least 2" of styrofoam for floor insulation, the sort you can walk on! That means: All out, insulate the floor, and then furniture in again! Everything else is a waste of work and money. Then it is highly recommended to put proper siding inside. Pine or Cedar... At best a wood that´s good against molder. And for heating get a good AC! Then you will have no issues with condensation or mold. Otherwise, you´ll get sick from this cabin! And pneumonia is a bad bad thing, believe me! Heating the floor would be a bad idea. It´s expensive, and it´s not a solution to the condensation problem! This money is better invested in a good AC to heat this cabin.

      @@bernhardmichaelfux308 Thanks for taking the time to explain. Very much appreciated. I was actually going to go the 2 inch foam route. We are not the tallest so another 2 inches is not going to hurt. But good to hear the feedback on it. Also very much love the pine or cedar idea for the walls. The siding they used works but not the greatest and good to hear it helps with moisture. The pine or cedar would also bring a nice smell as well.

      Great question. One I have gotten quite a bit. Yes we lock them open. It is a chain and a secure lock. Thought of that the first day we got it. Our property and cabin are in Alabama. I know some counties even in Alabama do not offer it but that is a shame. Sorry they do not for you. Have you tried to contact them? Maybe at the very least they can come out and give you ideas. Another place to contact is the NWTF (National Wild Turkey Federation). They also came out and gave me some ideas.

      And I am from TN originally. From Knoxville.

    Did you build it or buy it like this?

    • @NoRulesLife

      We bought it as a shell with the majority of it built. We added the front porch, roof top deck, leveled it and of course our basic cheap stuff on the inside. Plan to "hopefully" modify it more in the future. Little more info on it in these two videos. ua-cam.com/video/fcw64ZGoQLE/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/IDkym8irEDI/v-deo.html

    Do you have any videos of the inside

      Sure do. Link is below. It is a very basic cabin which allowed us to get it soon and start using it. We hopefully plan to modify it and make it better in the future. Thanks for the comment and for watching. ua-cam.com/video/7FUeo_vuQ94/v-deo.html

    Need those here in Hurricane Florida. Never have to worry about one of those.

      I lived in FL many years ago. Would certainly be a good option. Thank you for watching.

    Can you tell me where you purchased the tie-down cables? I have 2 containers just sitting on a concrete pad, and never realized I need to tie them down into the ground.

      Sure. I think this link below is where I bought them. There are cheaper options on Amazon but I did not want to go that route. Browse around this site. I personally like the large screw in anchors. Might try those if I ever move the cabin. americanearthanchors.com/3al-60cc-3-inch-bullet-with-60-inch-cable-and-cable-clamps/

    If the light is too bright just take a bulb out.

      HAHA good point. I really want to change them out at some point. Might do a whole makeover in there one day and lighting will be a major part of it.

    Wish we could get the containers out of the container graveyards, deliver them to WNC, TN to those who still need shelter! Easy builds,for those that are handyman like that.

      That is a very good point. Nothing better than reusing something for good.

    O made one with pella windows and patio doors

      That sounds great. Always liked the idea of having wide patio doors on the long side versus the end.
