Schiff can't afford to dilute his current business model with supporting Bitcoin for obvious reasons, so it's understandable to hear him speak negatively about Bitcoin. He's simply either not educated in the details of the white paper or he's afraid of losing his security in tradfi. Either way, he's missing an opportunity to be an early participant in the digital transformation of money and property.

To say that Bitcoin isn’t used for anything isn’t accurate. The comparable industrial use of Bitcoin is to create cheaper energy markets around the world. Bitcoin mining will go where the energy is cheap and abundant. This characteristic of Bitcoin allows something that is valuable but not portable-energy-to be converted into something portable and exportable. This alone puts Bitcoin in a class by itself. Not only does it stand to drive the price of energy down but will allow new energy markets to emerge and develop.

So.. at the end of the day, its confidence and faith in fiat, gold or bitcoin that will allow it to become a tradable 'commodity'. The only aspect with bitcoin is that it is new and people dont understand it. In an age where the govt controls flow of fiat how are the people supposed to have faith? In a world where the actual quantity of gold cannot be known, how are people going to have faith? with BTC its 21 million.. thats it.. you will not get more than that.. we will live in a world with transparency that not a single bitcoin more than 21mil can be created. Why is it important that a store of value have some other purpose that has no relationship to it's monetary use? If I have a ton of gold and suddenly it becomes worthless as a store of value... The #1 thing that gold bugs don't get about money is that money must have intrinsic value is a lie gold salesmen say to sell silly metal coins. The truth is, money must have instrumental value, like a washing machine. Nobody wants a washing machine. What they really want is clean clothes from a washing machine. Nobody wants dollars or metal coins. What they really want is to buy things. Nobody cares about making jewelry out of their money. Well it seems that the whole point of bitcoin is to become the digital representation of gold. In any case, being progressively mined, attempting to create an intrinsic inflation to the mining process is highly dependent on continuous cheaper energy and technology. I wonder if at any point this ceases to be the case, how might it impact bitcoins appreciation/depreciation over time, and specially as he said, Bitcoin ETF's might cause huge leverage in the market for the big boys.

Sorry, but it's getting ridiculous how gold bugs just keep repeating that bitcoin isn't money. As if all the billionaires that own BTC don't realize that it's digital. Gold bugs are living in denial. They can believe whatever delusional definition of money they want but everybody else is moving on. We understand that money is just a current medium of exchange and that nobody can print bitcoin so there's no need to go to some sleazy banker to get something physical before they print more money and steal your purchasing power.
