How Our French Bulldog Survived The Winter Road trip to Chicago!
Hello! We are Jona & Galia + Pimple (a French Bulldog Puppy). We are part-time Lover of Vanlife. As in, Jona is all about the open road and Vanlife but Galia and Pimple are not- they are all about open space and comfort of being at home.
We have a 2004 Ford Econoline Cargo Van to Campervan Conversion that Jona had spent his entire summer of 2020 working on by himself, night and day that Galia prefers not to be part of.
Weeks leading up to each road trip, Jona faces the daunting task of convincing Galia that this trip will not SUCK like the last one (in Galia’s view), and there will be less fighting during the trip. Jona typically presents her with a list of improvements he has made that will make travel and living so much better. And the campsite we maybe going to is magical, 4.5+ Stars rating, flying dolphins, etc. But again Galia does not care.
Each time, Galia lets Jona know of her dislike for van life and refuses to be seen in the vehicle. In her eyes, it’s an old, cheap, weird, kidnaper-looking Van. But to her credit, it is an old, odd, kidnapper-looking Van from the 90s that was made in the 2000s. She believes the van is uncomfortable, embarrassing, and it will break down on us during the trip.
Jona must bring his A-game to each negotiation that may involve the promise of a new iPhone, a different (air travel) vacation for Galia, and staying at hotels or two during the road trip. It usually ends up costing Jona more money doing a van life trip than traveling by air.
But Jona is not discouraged. He will take what he can get. He loves the freedom of the open road and new places he can visit on his Conversion Van. But he also knows that he loves the idea of Vanlife more than the reality of van life. He has seen one too many Walmart and Cracker Barrel parking lots and the scenic views in the parking lots are usually about the same. He has also been spoiled by the everyday essentials and luxuries including being able to poop in a regular toilet and being able to take clean showers, the common luxury hotels provide.

VANLIFE | FIRST DAY ON THE ROAD | With FRENCH BULLDOG PUPPY
Переглядів 3884 роки тому
The wait is finally over for us. I have spent the past 9 months on and off on converting a used 2004 Ford Econoline Cargo Van into a Camper Van / Mobile Office. This van signifies for me small relief from the daily grind and road to freedom. I have gotten a lot of inspiration from watching other van life videos on UA-cam and I wanted to follow suit. However, I had not realized van build and con...

Welcome to Smart Vanlife Channel. Today, I'm going to switch things up and do something off-topic and do Non Van life video, and instead of doing a Tesla Video. I was traveling with a Tesla Model 3, so I figure I'll capture the day. Winter is no friend to Tesla Model 3. As owners of Tesla Model 3 Long Range Version, my wife and I are finding out as the temperatures are dropping, Tesla requires ...

How to Install A Power Lock (and Keyless Entry) On Your Van or Truck for $35. Tutorial
Переглядів 5 тис.5 років тому
I made a step by step on installing a 4 channel remote power lock system on a Cargo Van as part of my camper van conversion. I believe I believe this installation can also be applied to most trucks and vans and some SUVs and cars. Depends on your skillset and your setup, it may take you a few hours to a few days to complete this project. This is my new van which is a 2004 Ford Econoline with a ...
We Bought An Old Camper Van! $3000 Mistake??
Переглядів 2875 років тому
Did I find a hidden gem or just asking for trouble? Regardless, I am jumping right into the #vanwagon and #vanlife movement! I have watched countless youtube van life videos, soaking in inspiration and have been craving to join the van life culture. It took me a while, but no more second-guessing on when to start, what van to get, how much, and other distractions. I finally put my foot down and...
Hey, that blue looks really good on your van. I wanna paint mine too. Could you tell me roughly how much it cost to get it painted? Great video, sir, and thumbs up on it. 👍
You should add a diesel heater for cold weather travel in the campervan & get Pimple a winter coat & boots🥶😀👍🏾
Oh he does have a nice coat already. Sorry i was commenting befor finishing the video
Lol. Pimple farting & stinking up the van 😂😂😂. Nice campervan build.
Good job...enjoy...you need to put a nice radio with dvd and blue tooth in...
Are your power locks still working well? Do you think that it’s still possible to put a speaker in the back door with that actuator there?
What is I already have powered doors?
GPS = another way to track you. Lol
very nice. We are from Iowa and I am building a van and would love to see more vids. Thanks, peace and love.
Awesome video and they keep getting better. We got to meet up next time you guys are back in Chicago
Thanks man! Most definitely. Why don’t you guys can come visit us in Cinci and stay at our place?
@@smartvanlife1120 sounds like a plan
Классное путешествие!!!
Thank you!
loved visiting Chicago, drive to Chicago during winter can be tricky so driving isn't the fun part everything else about Chicago is great, including people, food, downtown!
I had fun in Chicago, skyscrapers, and everything but that cold made me want to go home. 😂
Great video dood, pimple is so cute
Thanks man. It’s a challenge editing every time. But it helps having cute puppy in every other scene.
6:25 “he missed grass” 😂😂😂
We just could not find patch of grass anywhere by us. Our poor baby had trouble going to the bathroom as he was not use to walking in cold concrete so we had to carry him everywhere. So that is why in that scene Pimple was rolling in grass. After that it snowed and got worse. Talking to our Chicago friend, it’s normal for dogs just go on concrete. After that, you started noticing stain in the sidewalks..
I would suggest an alarm which gives this option and the peace of mind, somewhat...good content.
Hey Bowties, thanks for watching my video. Alarm is a great suggestion. It was one of my first electric work/project on my van so I didn't think that far ahead. And I'm not even sure why I never even thought about installing an alarm on my van till now..
Awesome adventure! 🤙
Awesome job on the van and video. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventure
Thanks man!! I got more videos coming.. SInce we don't go on a vacation as much as we like, i'm taking this roadtrip and breaking it up in multiple videos..
like at 2:04, open wound! WOW, hummm, I may reconsider interior van building! at 4:03, looove the red sandals and gray socks! at 5:24, use the GPS or your phone. try to make it without any other wounds.
Those are vanlife battle wounds. I'll wear the scars proudly. Lol. Galia's Red Adidas - Pimple go to town on those as chew toy.. and nothing on the floor is safe from him but somehow likes to to focus on shoes..
i love this video, we were so tired after this trip but this video brought so many good memories back!!!!
I'm glad i put this video together for us to look back on. More to come.
your dogs is sooooooooo cute
Thanks brother! Our life now revolves around our new puppy. I don't know how you and Heather do it with the dog, cat, and the kids..
I just got a new puppy so not it’s even more cray
@@chrisrez6341 oh wow.. I can only imagine that there is so much love at your house!
“Love” is a strong word
thanks for the video now i can install my amazon back up cam.👌👌👌
Homer, I'm glad it helped you. Thanks for watching the video
Not sure what you mean by "how often to charge". You should charge the car to ~80% everyday. It should never mater.
Hi Darren, I don’t disagree with you but not everyone can or want to charge everyday. In our case, we don’t have charger in our detached garage where my wife likes to park. Our charger is on the side of the main house in the driveway. So my wife only parks in driveway when she needs to charge especially when it’s cold outside.
@@smartvanlife1120 Do you have regular 120V in your Garage? You could likely just use that for simple commutes, otherwise I would run an extension cord for it from the 240V. Lots of options to help prevent concern over range.
Good job bro!! Yea I definitely experience the same with my X in the winter time. There's a lot to learn with cold weather consumption.
Thanks brother for your support!! Definitely more to learn. Btw, are you getting the Cybertruck? The design is growing on me I put a down payment in the morning after the announcement but I’m probably 100,000th person in line.
Very informational video about the Tesla Model 3. Thanks for sharing. Would you still recommend purchasing this vehicle at the current price tag with the false Tesla mileage claims?
Not sure if I can put it as a false claim, but it's definitely misleading base on the small sample result. But I know other Tesla and EV drivers have the same issues (from friends who have Teslas and reading from online forums). And as you and I were on the road together, we drove normal as we can 65-75mph mostly on the highway, absolutely no hills, no slow or aggressive driving. Yes, we were in rush hour traffic for little bit but nothing out of the ordinary. I still think it's worth looking into getting an EV, but I do think the consumer will need to be aware that 300 miles on EV don't equate to 300miles on gasoline vehicles because mpg will depend on how you drive, where you drive, and road and weather conditions.
as a side note, i think its better to use % vs miles, because miles can increase during driving
You’re right. But on this video, I went by miles because it’s easier to understand and compare and little more tangible.
very cool, thanks for taking us along. I think 'first year' Model 3 drivers will find it very helpful, i learnt my lesson. always warm up your Model 3 for at least 45 minutes before driving it during winter.
You're welcome. It made the trip more interesting. And I learn something about our Tesla as well while shooting this video. During really cold days, on one end you have to warm up the car longer but at the same time it uses up so much battery.
Thanks for posting this video, this is very helpful! please continue posting the next updates to your awesome van :)
Thanks for the support Galia. I will keep them coming. I am just starting my van build so I am planning on posting at least once a week.
I have watched all of your videos so far, great content! You can shoot videos and are really good at explaining everything in detail. I enjoyed this video, and thanks for great tips!
Thanks for the support Galia. I’m trying to get better with each video. I never knew how much time and effort it takes to create a single UA-cam video. Kudos to all youtubers.
💪👍
Молодец!
Thank you for the feedback!
Thanks for the video, very detailed explanation on how to install power locks 👍🏽
I’m glad you found it helpful. You now have knowledge and power to add power locks to your own Van. Fly away little bird😝.
I'm looking into starting up #vanlife. You have some great starter tips for where I need to start looking. I'm very curious to see what your nexts steps will be...can't wait for the next vid to see the updates so I know how to start on my own project!
Hi josh. Thanks for the comment. I started my #vanconversion last week including setting surveillance camera system, installing dash cam and rear view camera, painting and much more. I will be uploading series of installation and how to videos on diy van builds so stay tuned. All the best!
Josh - I just uploaded my first Installation video on 'How to install Powers locks on your van or a truck' . ua-cam.com/video/F312DKAzvbA/v-deo.html

Awesome. Thanks Lalo. Stay tuned for updates!
i dont mind living in the van for a couple of days, during a camping trip somewhere nice! Great video. love your editing!
That is fine wife. I’ll make the van really nice for you, so you’ll get the best of your trips. Many trips to Florida!!

@Tesla Fudge I can see why it can be funny now but wait and see. This is going to be a knight rider of vans. It’s going to be high tech, comfy, and practical.
Smart & Hustle Van Life Totally get it. Laughing cause I could see us having the exact same convo in the comments. Cracks me up that you are discussing it in the most toxic place to discuss things. That is some transparency 👍 love it!
Love following your amazing adventures!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Christina Nam thanks for the love niece! You guys can come check it out when I’m further along.
