I don’t know about you but I hate the feeling of numb toes when exercising, especially running. So why do our toes go numb? What is the story behind it? Tennis Elbow - Make it STOP! #tenniselbow #injuryprevention #fixyourpainnaturally
Can taking glucosamine tablets a lot help the labrum - cartilage at a faster rate? As well as using an inversion table to stretch things out?
The jury is still undecided on whether or not glucosamine truly helps human with healing human tissue/cartilage. If you notice it makes you feel better there is no harm in taking the tablets (double check that it doesn’t interfere with any other medication you are taking). As far as an inversion table to stretch out the body, it will be more effective to the spine than the extremities.
Great video! Is it important to scrape in just one direction when using the tool
I find it helps my patients/clients more if I follow the muscle fibers and stroke away from midline
@@askdoctorheather thanks so much for your response - by midline do you mean the centre of the body (ie. the axis along the spine)?
Yes, that is correct.
Thank you ❤
I’m so glad you found the video helpful. Let me know if you have any questions
Just the routine I was looking for . Thanks.
You are more than welcome. Also check out the TRX/BOSU one for skiing as well as the Ultimate Hamstring exercises.
@@askdoctorheather Will do, after 4 hamstring tears (3 on one leg) I currently have hamthreads. Tough being a 65 year old adult house league racer!
Let me know if you need anything else as I’m here to help
How does it occurs ? And why?
The occurrence of this injury can vary but more commonly it is due to the nerves becoming over stretched in that area which than causes pain especially when trying to lift the arm. The why depends on how the injury occurred. Are you currently having pain?
@@askdoctorheather Yes pain is still there...
What have you tried so far to help relieve the pain?
@@askdoctorheather this pain is from 3 days I did some exercises u suggested and also some sprays?
OK, I would have to know a little bit more about what happened three days ago in order to tell you exactly what to do next. More than happy to set up a time to meet with you over zoom versus having you go through a full history in the comments section here.
Any medicines for it?
You can try over the counter antiinflammatory medications if ice/heat and massage are not helping. But do make sure to double check that nothing you are taking would be contraindicated with any other medications you are currently taking. A TENS unit can provide great relief here as well which can be used as an analgesic
For those where its gone on so l ong and cant do phsysio have you seen any people with success from brachiel plexus surgery as this is now my only option it seems as PT isnt working and arm becomes disbaled with now autonomic dysfunction from severe irriation to nerve bundles. Causing crushing syndrome in other nerves in arm as well.
Yes if you have done an extensive time with PT and no progress then surgery would be the next step here. Happy to speak with you if you have any questions or concerns.
thank you
I’m glad you found the video helpful. Let me know if you have any questions
Lol
So you don’t recommend surgery?
Depends on how bad the tear is according to the imaging study that was done. Some minor tears can be healed without surgery while more severe would need surgery. I highly recommend doing PT before and after surgery to help in speeding up the recovery process.
@@askdoctorheather I’ve been doing PT for 5 months and still have mainly a burning sensation in my hip like my skin is being ripped off my bones. It gets worse when doing house cleaning. I deal with it but I figured since it’s still happening after 5 months of PT then maybe I would benefit from having surgery to repair the tear.
I would assume you have had a follow up with your specialist since its been 5 months of PT. Yes, its time to redo the imaging and see a surgeon. Happy to help any which way I can here.
@@askdoctorheather thank you!
Like a broken bone healing stronger in that very place than it was before with added bone mass, does the labrum heal stronger once fully healed? And would using a heavy rubber exercise band pulling the ball ever so slightly from the socket while exercising help as seen in Squat University youtube videos, etc?
Not necessarily. With all the people I have worked with, first we focus on breaking up the scar tissue to heal the area stronger then put in the correct set of exercises based on the original injury, muscle imbalances and activity they are trying to get back too. Let me know if you have specific questions as I am here to help
Please kill the music! So distracting

@@askdoctorheather I stopped training my quads. And increased my hamstring instead. Has gotten better since then. Perhaps just a coincidence, but I hope it continues! Thanks for the content.
Operation to reattach labrum was undertaken in Nov 23. Initial rehab was exercise bike and glute strengthening. I was able to run in a straight line and freely in January 2024. I did make a premature return to football, however after 45 mins then stiffness and groin pain was there in the same way it was pre-operation. So, in summary, the discomfort is the same after the op as it was before.

She has some pain in her wrist and her fingers hurt in the joints. She has S shaped scoliosis. She has some swelling in her right arm all the way into her hands. As far as I can tell she has a very irritated brachial plexus with at least one blood vessel compressed. She cannot do hardly any exercise because she has a lot of pain in the right arm and shoulder. Great video editing and helpful diagram. Can confirm I never really understood or enjoyed planks but my main issue before meeting Dr Heather was my form. Keeping my elbows under my shoulders, keeping my head straight and not letting it droop too much and just focusing on form over time was the key to not hurting myself more and building up my strength. Form is key ❤ thanks for watching 😊
How long on each exercise and how many times per week?

Yeah I just wanted to you to tell me what’s gonna get rid of my back real quick it’s a short so I figured I wouldn’t have to invest a lot of time now you want me to find order and get a book or watch some video . But nooooooo
If you give me an idea of what is going on with your low back I can give you a simple (hopefully simple) tip/trick to help ease the discomfort more for you.
It hurts from working on roofs
Ok got it! A majority of roofers I have worked with suffer with a tight QL (Quadraslumborum) which is a muscle that comes off the 12th rib as well as Lumbars 1-4 and attaches to the top part of the pelvis. Because of the position you are in on a daily basis this muscle can either get over stretched or over strengthened depending on which side you are favoring more when working on the roof. If you have a tennis ball or lacrosse ball at home you can do some simple soft tissue work after the work day. Lay on your back, with the knees bent so the feet rest comfortably on the floor, place the ball off to the side of the spine in the small back area and just let your body melt over the ball. There will be some tender points so go at your comfort level. If you are not sure where to place the ball in the description box associated with this video I give a diagram of where to place the ball for free - ua-cam.com/video/dl_RoArP26I/v-deo.html Let me know if you have any further questions.
Köszönöm! Bemelegített:
Szívesen! Szólj, ha másra van szükséged. Itt egy nagyszerű síszezon!
I have been bending over at the waist to try and touch my toes (I'm a long way off!). THere never seems to be much change. I this a bad exercise? IS it the wrong way to stretch my hamstrings?
It's not a bad exercise but it not be the right exercise/stretch for you. Based on the video here that you watched do you notice if you have an anterior tilt? If the answer is YES then you want to address your hip flexors (the psoas/illiopsoas muscles). Doing some simple stretches to these muscles will help take tension out of the hamstrings.

Hey got you heather!
Awesome to have you here ❤️
Dr. Heather I just came across your video today! It was very informative. My feet hurt especially my right foot (4&5 metatarsals snd close to base of toes). I also have calluses On the bottom of my foot right under my fifth toe along with bunions. I haven’t been to the foot doctor in a couple years. And I’m planning on probably going soon because I’m having trouble walking. Several years ago I had orthotics made which I have not been wearing. I usually wear good shoes in the winter months Brooks but wear supportive sandals in summer most of the time! I’m carrying an extra 100 pounds also which I know is putting more strain and wear and tear on my feet. I took your wet foot test and I posted a pic below along with a picture of my shoes. And it does appear that I’m a supinator and I was aware that the outside edge of my shoes always get worn. But my foot doctor told me to wear stabilizing shoes with orthotics. I also had a gate analysis long time ago and was told I should wear neutral shoes. I’m confused on what type I should wear! I would just like another opinion and you seem very knowledgeable. I’m hoping you can give me some advice on what would be the best shoe to wear for walking. My upper foot area also splays out. My feet and body are a hot mess! I also have plantar Fasciitis, IT band pain, etc! Please help😩
Thanks so much for watching and finding value in the content provided in this video. I saw you also messaged me on Facebook. I will be sending you a detailed reply there so look for the message later today.
don't giveup keep building your channel with new content
I will have new content come March as I have also been recording lately for my podcast.
I didn't know what this was but maybe now I can get it fixed naturally! Thanks Dr. Heather!
You are so welcome! Let me know if you have any specific questions.
Thanks for putting out a clear explanation of Impingement. I have been dealing with it for a while and your video is a good reminder to get back to the exercises.
You are very welcome and sorry to hear you are still dealing with the injury. Yes getting back to the exercises will help. I would recommend checking out this video on shoulder exercises on the channel as well ua-cam.com/video/3xd_fiNhEn0/v-deo.html. These are basic but are a good starting point too. If you need anything feel free to reach out. Here to help my community of viewers.
Your information isn’t correct Get informed about a disease. Not a common headache. Cluster headaches affect 0.01% of the population. Making it rare. Not common. The causes you suggest are comical. It originated in the hypothalamus. CH is not fixed my a quack. There is no cure. Only remission.
I do appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and I did listen to your story on your channel. Having a condition/disease that goes un-treatable for so long can be so debilitating and hopefully others who watch your Vblog will feel a sense of hope especially since you have experienced it all. As far as the video on here goes, I am mentioning three headaches that can present themselves even though yes a Cluster Headaches does represent a small population but it's important to draw some awareness to this type of headache. Because as you already know from first hand experience, it can be misdiagnosed. I do not state in the video that a chiropractor can relieve someone with this type of condition/disease. This video was meant to be a quick overview not an in-depth discussion on one vs the other. Wishing you much continued success and living a life pain free.
Great stuff I'm gonna try out everything, can you show some exercises and for snowboarding?
Make sure to take a look at the skiing playlist ua-cam.com/play/PLurtKimPYqT228rn6srVWi-faDZ0Wlx2P.html . Even though I say skiing, a majority of the exercises can be tweaked a bit to help with snowboarding. If you have any specific questions regarding any of the exercises please ask. Happy to help :-)
Lutut saya bengkak, susah beraktivitas
Apa obat sakit bursitis❓
Apakah Anda menonton bagian 1?
