Does it weight 16 lbs (approx) as I have had an email saying a parcel has been despatched? The reason I ask is I have a very large and heavy book ordered on Laurel & Hardy which is due to be posted about now also. The notice of despatch says it has left Valencia if that's any help.

I am definitely looking forward to receiving Smoke Filled Dreams! I have a lot of very old boxes filled with Monkees magazine clippings. They've traveled around with me for 50+ years but the beautiful new books that you publish are so much nicer to look at and will stay in great shape much longer than those old magazine clippings! The Monkees were the best American rock/pop group due to the number of enduring great songs and good. Beach Boys close second. The Monkees were the only Americangroup to get the wild love and attention from Great Britain especially preteen/teenage girls and boys. The kids were right.. They deserve such great research as done in this book. Very few others even from the 60's. Thanks from Canada.

Hi Andrew. I was a big Monkee fan back in 66 and still am. I play piano for a living and often add a healthy smattering of Monkees and Beatles at many of my gigs. Back in the 60s I could not wait to get the albums as they came out. I stumbled upon you on one of JR's excellent podcasts a few years ago and noticed your (and his) passion for the beloved band was phenomenal. Anyway I got onto your mailing list for the Day by Day "book" (tome, I think!) and just recently was notified you had printed more. When I told my girlfriend I was ordering it she HAD to disclose that she had ordered it and Micky's book for me for Xmas already! I was so excited. What amazing printing and attention to detail from you. I alredy have found several new facts from before the TV show and love the journal type approach. I have just started the "Here they Come" section. I am trying to read it very slowly ad absorbing the great photos and old ads as well. I know these labors of love are very time consuming and require painstaking attention to detail but us die-hard fans are out here. I itend to check Beatland Books for any more gems you might have. My book arrived the other day! It’s a Christmas gift from my husband! I ordered it and told my hubby when it arrives, take it, wrap it and hide it til Christmas! He’s not that computer savvy, so it’s his gift to me but I had to order it. Can’t wait til Christmas!

Glad you've cited Eric Lefcowitz's book from 1985. While it's all b/w photos, the stories, the insights and chronology were super helpful for my Monkees knowledge then.

Maybe a different question from the others- I remember hearing a couple years ago that you were suing the FBI for records they kept about the Monkees! What can you tell us about why they were investigating, and any progress on getting the materials?

I'm wondering if any of you have any knowledge of a mail order company I bought from in, I think 1981 or 1982 called "Goin Back Interprises" out of Hawaii, they had one of the first Monkees extensive box sets which was who knows how many generations down.

Hi! I appreciate the work all of you do. I was a subscriber to Maggie McManus's zine -- so well done. I recently re-read the issue packed with news of Justus, the ABC '97 special and the U.K. tour of that year. A Monkee highlight experience for me among many was the 2018 evening which Andrew hosted at The Egyptian in Hollywood (50th anniversary screening of HEAD) with Michael and Micky on stage. "Day-By-Day Story" is an epic read!

So close, yet so far away! I’m in Nixa, MO! My hubby and I saw you and Mike in St. Charles, MO at the Family Arena the month before Mike passed away! I’m so glad we made it to his final performance in MO! We were on The Beach Boys Cruise to the Bahamas, last year and you were my main reason for going on the cruise! You came over and met me at the Chumash Casino after you performed in the Happy Together Tour, there in May of 2010. I’m the one that had on my “MySpace” page, “Out of all the billions of people on the face of the earth, there’s only TWO people I want to meet! Micky Dolenz and Jesus! I’ve been blessed to meet you personally at the Chumash. You were so kind to take time out to come over to me ( Jim Lenz was part of your group and he told you about me after my friend who I was with spoke to him. Turns out they knew each other because they lived in Ojai). Anyway, you had your picture taken with me, gave me a kiss on the cheek and a hug! Never in a million years did I think I’d meet my teen idol! Now you’re my Senior Idol, Lol! I’ve been following you since Circus Boy! God bless you Micky and I hope to get your book! Hello I have a question for Micky. When the Monkees did the Justus tour in Europe why wasn't one of the concerts not filmed for a Live concert dvd release and a live CD release? From Brian Whelan

Terrific conversation. Hope to hear more. I have two questions I hope you could answer for me. 1.) I’ve recently grown extremely fond of the Nesmith co-written song “I’ve Never Loved Anyone More” and would love to know if perhaps a demo version exists of Nez singing the song? 2.) Do the tapes of Jack Nicholson and The Monkees ‘writing’ Head still exist? Who owns them? Nicholson? I would love to hear them, as I’m sure you all would. Thanks so much! The Kinks "Day by Day" project is of great interest and anticipation. Are there similar plans for The Bee Gees "Day by Day" from 2012?

"More recent history is less well-documented than the 1960s." Interesting point. We know an almost unbelievable amount about many of the popular music acts of the 60s, far more than the average fan had access to at the time, or for many years after. I wonder if top acts of today will ever get the same kind of research treatment in the future. Probably some will and some won't, I suppose. It is not hard to imagine well-researched books being published in the 2050s about Rihanna or Taylor Swift. But mostly I think that the young fans of today will not be quite as obsessive about their idols as many of us are about ours, particularly when it comes to matters which lie outside of the traditional gossip column topics. Finding out how these things play out is one reason to live to be old.

Hey Micky, when are you going to finally ace the hat. We the fans hate to know that you have a some kind of painful self loathing because of your thinning hair. At least that's what you project every time you wear a hat. We love you regardless. we much rather have you open minded, happier, and relieved. please, either get a haircut to compliment what do you do have, seek to have it done medically but just get rid of those hats.

It's hard to believe that anyone thought that The Monkees weren't worthy of a book! They are so under appreciated. They contributed so much to the landscape of pop culture and music. One of the biggest insults is that they aren't in the Rock n Roll hall of fame. We fans are very grateful for pop historians like you guys!

I bought your updated Day by Day but am passing on this one, whoever runs the Written In Our Hearts page on facebook shares all your photos (without crediting your book) so I guess I will seem them there shortly.

Any stories and pictures about the group "D, D & T " in "I'm Told I Had A Good Time" book which consisted of Micky Dolenz, Coco Dolenz and Peter Tork? I believe they did a few performances together back in the early 1970s. Not too many fans are aware of them or their existence.

The man is a national treasure for real!.I was lucky enough to meet him twice during the 90’s when Micky was touring doing Grease..Both times he was incredibly nice to me..I never forgot it..Definitely picking up a book!

Andrew…do you think there will be a proper vehicle to release the unreleased Changes track Which Way Do You Want It? Would also love to hear the stereo version of Lady’s Baby. Thinking some kind of updated anthology or box set for the 60th anniversary would be a good place to sprinkle in a few of those lost/discovered gems or an expanded Missing Links box….which could include all the original ML mixes and unique Arista-era mixes, with a handful of previously unreleased mixes/tracks/etc…would love some BB&M-era backing tracks. We plant the seeds, you help make them grow…they don’t all grow, but always thankful for the bounty.
