Yes, Like so many other humans, I like cars. I go to car shows, I like Motorsports, etc, etc. BUT, I think what really classifies someone as true car Enthusiast is the desire to modify anything they own. That's probably why my friends call me a Motorhead. There's no video of my supercharged Mustang with Flowmaster exhaust (yet, it's not done) as I'll probably change that because there are a thousand of them, and it's no trouble to find a video here on UA-cam. What turned me on to this media is I was trying to find something to make my daily driver RR Evoque SOUND better, any increase in HP would just be a bonus I probably wouldn't notice anyway. I didn't like anything I saw for the prices they were commanding for them so as a Motorhead I set out on my own. If I ever figure out how to edit these videos I will condense them, but for now I'm sorry...... I'm technically challenged
Alfa 4C custom exhaust #2 idle and valves opening
So here I figured out that by manipulating the ignition key slightly I could de-energize the valve solenoid so they would open (normally they only do so when engine vacuum is not present under boost) without shutting the car off.........

Camera lined up a bit off center but you get the idea. Good it turned out you can see them in the video better than I could from the lighting from my perspective. It will be interesting to hear it under load and boost when they pop open. Still have to finish hangers and get the midpipe flange welded. More to follow............

I just did a Manual Conversion on my 2011 LP560 Spyder and drove it for over 30 miles today. It's indescribable FUN. I was told it likely would not start without programming and was happy to find out it DOES. A clean, tasteful example. Not a huge fan of convertibles as the lack of a roof interrupts the flow of the upper body line (and compromises the body strength). But this is well done.
Hi this is Doug. You using the astro a5 trans in there?
Ah, it IS you Doug. Yessir. So far everyone who has actually come to look at it wants me to put the engine back to stock. I guess I can't blame them... overkill for a ragtop. Still on the fence about the whole thing
Nice job man. Is that my astro a5 trans in there?
Doug from Jersey?
Nice car man , i don't know were in Pa you are but there is a shop that can help if you want to go that way . Great bunch of guys they have helped me a lot on my 89 convertible. East Speed is the name of the shop if you are interested. Good luck with what ever you decide.
Thanks, also got another hint about turning up the displacement on the binary tune which is something I never thought about. Those who have actually come to look at it have been scared enough to inquire about putting the engine back to stock, which, for me it would be painful. I get it though, most people just want a driver I guess.
I know this is a older video but this info might help someone out,LMR has a video(DVD) on how to replace a convertible top,i actually have that video but i didn't buy it from them, i bought it many many years ago, video was probably made in the late 90s early 2000s. Its a company that made videos called "This old car" and the video is done by guys that have been installing tops for decades,i believe the car in the video is a little red LX , if you watch that video and you still cant install a top then you got problems, lol, it is very detailed with tons of info, be warned though, its not HD quality or anything like that, you might be able to find it somewhere else,on LMR its in the convertible top section all the way at the bottom, its 25 bucks. The copy i have is decent quality and shows this older guy that looks like hes been at it since the 60s and he shows you step by step what to do,if i had to choose between no help and that video ill take that video gladly. I know you mention this somewhere but i figured i would give a more detailed story on the video.
That is s cool setup. The issue with then old ass kenne bell blowers is no intercooler and you solved that. That's actually very cool be nice to see what it could do turned up on e85. What was the engine setup not sure if I missed it or not. One of them blowers pushing about 10-12 psi with that intercooler setup on e85 with a solid heads cam package and long tubes would be a killer setup. If you did a high compression 347 it would be a torque monster lol. Bet that is a fun street car. It looks good I don't like verts that is one of the better ones I've seen. Very clean and tasteful.
It's barely been for sale for a week and already I'm discovering it's going to be a tough sell. $16k is too much for a car that isn't finished and dyno-ed. The real engine for it is an Edelbrock headed 306 (didn't have the budget at the time for the 347) and goes with the sale but is still sitting on a stand. Having second thoughts so I might try and concentrate on selling the other car. Something has to go and maybe it shouldn't be this one since I've had it almost 30 years now.... It is my first 'real' car
glad YT recommended this video. this this classic street beast
Great color, clean ride. Wouldn’t have guessed those wheels would look so good on your car.
Woww sir can you tell me how much cost this exhaust ?
I know I'm late brother but could you tell me what type of tune you had on this beast?
Woow its perfect , cold engine and You give Gas
When you reference your measurements 25 1/4 for the back window what are your measurement points your coming off from?
Hello!! How is the engine deal going?? Did u swap motors and go with Whipple?? I have a 1.5 Kenny Bell on my 88 coupe
No you deleted all the E71 x6m exhaust clips :(
Can any one tell me what size gauge and crown staples?
i like those seats
question. i switched out the whole frame (skeleton). & now the frame does a “V” shape where the passenger & driver windows are… doesn’t let the door shut right whenever the windows are up
wish I could help, but don't quite follow... too bad there's not a way to post a picture?
Nice Stormin Norman hood!
Hi Mike, any tips on how to fit the valve controller to a stock exhaust? I’m struggling to locate the solenoid on the car. Is it a bumper removal job? Thanks, Rob
Hey Rob, no bumper removal for solenoid bypass or modification. On the LP spyder it's located on the passenger side between the back of the airbox and the little rail just behind it. If you simply want it open all the time just pull the vacuum hose off each valve and plug the hoses. I didn't like that idea because then the valves would never get used and might eventually refuse to close if you or the next owner ever do hook them back up again. This way at least you can operate them once in a while to keep that from happening (and the neighbors happier if you come home late at night). I kept everything just as it is but added another solenoid (a simple vacuum diverter valve) inline that blocks vacuum all the time when activated. When not activated it's open so then it's controlled by the existing solenoid controlled then by the cars' computer which opens the valves above 3500 rpm. I stole/shared power to the solenoid from a nearby harness that runs to the rear brake light and spoiler motor. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the quick reply Mike. Yea that’s really helpful. I’ve actually got a Kline switch (no Kline exhaust unfortunately) but I just could not see how to access the solenoid without stripping the bumper. I’ve got a RHD car but guess the location will be the same, it’s only a couple of bolts to find out I guess! I’ll let you know how it goes. Thanks again
@@MisterJohnWick I’ve got the Kline switch but still not installed sorry
Damn, that thing sounds just as wicked as I thought it would. Beautiful ass build man.
I know I'm 3 yrs late to the comments but looks like you started one hell of a nice car. Look forward to seeing the finished product.
Haha, thanks, still working on it actually.... see newer posts. Currently building a new Edelbrock headed 306 over the winter to install sometime in 2023
Any updates??
Yeah, I should do some updates with plans over the winter. The stacked (one heat exchanger on top of the other) didn't work well and was likely blocking some badly needed fresh air to cool the radiator. Now I mounted them across the bottom behind the foglights and got an instant improvement without even running any fans other than the electric radiator fan. Engine coolant gauge at second from bottom mark and never hits halfway.... before it was going over halfway and only used for short trips due to that fact. I relocated the 'reserve' tank for the intercooler so it would be higher than any other part of the system to eliminate air pockets. Yep, probably should do an update.
Nice job. Any details or advice on how to get the front stretched and stapled down? I'm at that stage, but my top seems to be real narrow. I also can't remember if there was supposed to be a tack strip up front. The upholstery guys video mentions reinstalling one.i don't recall taking one out. Their video is so grainy. I can't tell what they're doing. What kind glue did you use?
TOO MUCH EXTRANEOUS BULL! STAY ON RELEVANT POINT MAN!!!! EVERYONE CANNOT DO OR TEACH!!!
If this guy is getting on your nerves with a 4 minute video dont get near a Convertible top, takes a LOT of patience to install one and 9 times out of ten the first time (maybe the second too) will look like crap.
Do you have a shot with the back pads in place?

For never doing anything like that before I think it looks awesome. I like the tuck job on the front too. What are those wheels that you had on it in the 1st video?
Thanks, I got those wheels maybe 12 years ago and never put them on. I thought they were discontinued because the name at the time was Sportmax but have since found out that they were bought out by XXR. I'm not sure how exactly the same, or not they are but the XXR 962 is visually the same and same sizes/offsets. They are the 'gunmetal'. Offsets will depend on your rear axle and brake setup.
Which stapler did you use ?
TPS motorsports has new kits listed for sale. Do you know if those use the Autorotor or new KB produced compressors?
Definitely not Autorotors. The new Blowzilla kits have the KB product, good thing.
Still got the car
Yes, no plans on selling it anytime at least this year or next
Dope and want to get a blow Zilla for my 95 gt kb said 6months they should be in reproduction again for like $3500 a kit
Nice. I wonder how long it's been since the last production run
Were you able to make a weight comparison versus stock? How was fitment? Tire sizes? Nice vid.
thanks, sorry did not think to make a weight comparison. Rear fits great. Front needed 10mm spacer, those front 4 piston calipers are not 'normal'..... A or B profile face probably needs to be 'A' although many of the 'cheap' wheels don't address that aspect. Think of the front as having a Factory Big Brake Kit already on it.......................
Anyone with a lathe can make one 8th grader’s
What?😵💫
Just plug the hole with solid aluminum rod.
Yeah, that's not the problem... the problem is the drive design and you can't change that without a gamble I wasn't willing to take

I saw a "sound tuning kit" which needs to be purchased separately. Could I not get the "sound tuning kit". If so, would the exhaust still bring vivid sound to the lambo as a whole
Is the valve change device actually the sound tuning kit?

Nothing like the sound of that hot vee.
Following your progress. I am in the same boat with my 1.5L. Want to upgrade and get rid of the long snout. I like your idea, kinda like the old, old BBK supercharger set up. But since the manifolds are irreplaceable I am afraid to cut them. Keep it up, hoping it all works out for you!
God, you sound creepy.
Oh, you saw my facebook page...........
Can't post comments on your new video. It sounds really good. How is the mustang coming along?
YES, been awhile since I touched that car..... tuning issues may be over my head and that rear wing is bothering me. I'm going to give it another try in the upcoming weeks now that the Lambo is 'done'........ Thanks for bringing it back to my attention (exclamation point) since that stopped working on my keyboard but yet I can still type a 1, so what's the deal with that??
