Big help . Thanks
I see you know what you’re doing but to be honest I kinda liked the mortar without the tuck point. It looked kind of rustic or early American.
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Also love the tips about overpumping and windy days
lol. Lead blower line
"Hey, little Mr. 🐝, you're butting into my f#*king commercial...go make your own damn video!" Haha!
How does it look after it drys on shingles

How soon after repointing a brick chimney can you apply a sealer
30 days.
Good job
I have a few cracks in the crown of my chimney that have been caulked. Can I put this over that? How thick should I put it on? Thanks!
Im a chimney novice, and we have bought a house where we don’t have the Chimneys sealed at all. What is that curved concrete part on the top? How can i search for this part or someone to do it for me? What do you call it?
Crown
Did you use the additive Akkro-7t in the Tamoseal? What happens if you don’t. Our supply company told us they don’t use it or sell it??..
I use the Akkro. I have used a standard latex bonding agent in the past, and it did not seem to be a problem, but I try to stay with the recommended product.
Tamoseal is a great product.Akkro 7t is a good bonding agent additive but 'Mascobond AR' (not SBR) is far superior. We are a stucco company (40+years) out of Portland OR and do a lot of crown repair/rebuild. Great video. Thank you. @@YamhillCountyChimney
Tamoseal should handle it if the cracks are not very wide.
Great video! I've got some minor cracks on the vertical surface of the crown and chips on the edge of the crown. Should I fill them in with concrete / something else or will tamoseal take of that?
Don't you have to cover the roof and aluminum flashing with a tarp or cardboard?
No, not necessary with the product that I use.
Directions say not to get on shingles
thanks for video. lots of good tips. I've watched a bunch of these videos but still picked up some things from yours. thanks
3:33 transcript without the loud and obnoxious leaf blower: "This product needs a temperature of 60 degrees and rising for 3 hours. Dry chimney, 60 degrees and rising for 3 hours. Any mortar work needs to have cured for at least 30 days. "
Did mine today and took little time to reseal. Thanks for the tips!
If you do this yourself, how often would you reapply? Yearly?
Siloxane is the product. Chimney RX also makes a chimney water proofer.
How much you charge for that chimney?
Looks terrific
How much to waterproof a chimney this size?
How much to waterproof this size chimney with a saloxine pd water repellent? $300
All you are doing is repointing,it’s not tuck pointing, misleading video
It was hard to hear you with that damn leaf blower!!! 🍃 just kidding 😂 but, it would have been nice 👍 😉 if it wasn't running ... It is what it is thanks!!!
www.amazon.com/siloxane/s?k=siloxane
rename title, just taking.
Hey Bob, it's talking🤣
This is not tuckpointing, it's repointing.
Immaculate.
Why did you only do half a job ? Also what the hell is that flashing all about lol
Could you use Flex seal for this type of job? I have a rock facade chimney that is leaking...
Flexseal cracks easily after a season or 2 in an outdoor setting.
@@fjr86 Ok, thanks. What type of sealant would you recommend?
Hawk and pointing tools .
U should cover the roof first.
Damn good job
seems like an awful lot of waste.
I learned a lot, thanks for sharing a very detailed video
How do you charge for tuck pointing?
Drop clothes would of been easy to bring up.
You make it look too easy. I might even try the job myself now 😯
Thanks for sharing your skill and techniques. Your quality work shows.
Comedy gold He's icing a cake ffs
What's the best way to do cleanup of all the mortar around the chimney without damaging/discoloring the roof? Did you hose it off before it dried? Did you let it dry first? Shopvac?
Always use a canvas tarp. Harbor Freight has a 4x12 that's dirt cheap and good quality. Saves you a ton of time on cleanup.
@@barkybarker2592 Thanks!!!
Thanks for the help on how to properly do this. My chimney is about this size. Would one bag of type s be enough or should I get two?
If you don't make your joints as massive and sloppy as him one bag will be enough
How did it go?
Hey Cliff, would you recommend using Tamoseal on the side of a chimney, I have a cement masonry coating over the blocks. I want to really seal it up. My house is 40 years old and the sides are holding up well, but staring to show weather wear. Some say it would work great, your thoughts? Thanks.brucewkrupke@gmail.com
Why were the top lines under the cap, skipped??
When replacing the crown do you install a barrier between the concrete and the brick or just bond them together? Other videos stress concern about different materials expansion and contraction. Thanks
Yes. This is an example of poor workmanship

Here in the UK. We would've used a grinder to grind old joints out before repoint.
He did.....
he did lol he just didn't show it you can't use a mortar bag if you don't grind the joints
Hi what kind a product do use?
He said Sol-lock-sane at a mason supply house, whatever that is. It's at 1:00 in the video
Silane-Siloxane, looks like Foundation Armor is the most well-known brand. I plan on doing my chimney with it soon.
@@Ekic chimney saver is the best is allows any moisture escape when water proofing but will repel the water I feel the best.. and this skirt flashing around the chimney looks horrible
www.amazon.com/siloxane/s?k=siloxane
@@Ekic Best I can tell its a good one. Needs both Silane and Siloxane to do the best job
