Against The Wind

Aurora Dances over Denali and her partner mountains on 12-28-24, while a constant wind tears it's way across snowy tundra during an Anchorage Northern Lights Tour. Van was stuck in a snow drift the whole time we shot this, the tow truck arrived right on time and pulled us out right when we were due to wrap things up, and the night finished on schedule. Stuck in the snow, capture the glow!
Midnight Blessing

After 16 hours of terrible Aurora Data, it dips in my favor for 2.5 hours during an Anchorage Northern Lights tour on 11-30-24. The Data hopped back up to terrible as soon as we left and stayed that way for another 8 hours at least. Really a blessing to work in that window.

Aurora gives a nice, typical show above south-central Alaska. This is about the level of what I expect most nights when I go out. Every now and then there's less than this, but often this is what I call a starting point of what I expect to see from the Anchorage area.

Monster CME (coronal mass ejection) smashes the atmosphere over South Central Alaska resulting in the most crimson Aurora I've ever photographed.

A quick burst of Aurora burns the sky over southcentral Alaska on 10-02-2024. Shot with Nikon Z6ii and Astrhori 12mm F2.8 fisheye lens. Temps are getting below freezing and a lot of air moisture is turning to ice crystals, intensifying pink effects. I switched shutter speed about 1/3 of the way through to account for the brightening aurora and the pink effect relaxes a bit.
INCREDIBLE ALASKAN AURORA!

Hermosa naturaleza! Hermosa noche de mi vida! 😮
Thank You... I really enjoyed seeing this ❤
Fantastic white balance and exposure rate!! Great clip. Worth the hard long cold night!!
Freedom is the goal. Love is the weapon. Faith over fear. Beautiful thanks
😎
Nice
Beautiful clip! Yes, it is a blessing. You are a blessing to others putting in the work to get this clip, as I know very well the challenges of night timelapse work! Cold, tired and lonely, but wow when you see it!! Love the frame rate you have, its just perfect!
Okay, THAT was a great example of a perfect exposure and frame-rate!! I am as green with envy as half that aurora! I'm in So Cal, and I only seen one event in my life, on my channel, it was just a pure red "noise" but your clip, it danced! Few people out there know the challenges of nightscape timelapse work. What you did here is excellent!! Loved it. The location is great. And that was what, like 8mm?!? Great clip! Kudos.
@@kainuisocean What a compliment! The one thing I can say is I tend to shoot with fast modern lenses and this night was an F2.8 12mm fisheye from Astrhori, and I find f2.8 gives you a bit more buffer zone than at f1.8, when it comes to over exposing aurora that varies in brightness. I think I adjusted my exposure time once during this whole clip. Fairly fast exposures if I remember correctly, 2 seconds mostly.

Where’s Lady in Red by Roy Orbison? This title is misleading.
If i did that, Roy Orbison Jr. would get all the money, if there was money.
Magnificent and amazing music and wonderful video !
Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing 👏 Thx
truly astounding ❤❤❤ thank you for sharing this absolutely gorgeous footage! 🌌
Many thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed!
shii beautiful than a mf
Nice 👍
Amazing 😍
What are those streaks of light on the snow surface?
I imagine it's some light pollution from me. I set up this cam to record a timelapse while I used another camera out of the shot to photograph people as part of an Aurora Tour I was guiding. Basically a camera flash most of the time, and when people get in and out of the van the lights come on for a few seconds as well.
Amazing!!
