Jonathan's Crafts
Приєднався 3 чер 2014
I am passionately in love with knitting and all it's varieties. I have a company which sells knitting yarn and haberdashery items in my local area, and I also own several knitting machines, and use these to create unique and individual items that I sell.
As of December 2015 I am starting to release some videos to help those on the knitting machine access the knowledge that I have gained in my first few years of the craft.
I hope you enjoy my videos. Please subscribe to stay updated when I add a new one :)

Thank you for this beautiful project!
Was that a turtle neck
Hi , daft question , what are the machine settings on Brother 950i to knit plain fabric to go with pattern fabric , eg jumper has single motif on front in DBJ so I need settings for below , above motif , back and sleeves ...thank you 😊
So i have it in A/C and i get it to grab the color... but mine does not stop once it goes down to 0 it just keeps going lol...
Do you know of a video for setting up the motor on the stand and stuff?
Hi Steve. Were you able to find out how to set up the motor on the stand, particularly with the tension mast?
Thank for this Jonathan and also the DBJ video. I’m in a few of the FB machine knitting groups and I don’t see you in them. Although im a great gran I’m still a fairly novice machine knitter so these videos help especially when it’s the 950i which I have.
Really Good, really informative email - Thank you
HI Please show the attachment of the motor rod (in which the rubber band runs)👍👍👍👍
I see you don't have much to do with videography! It would be nice if you could show the 2 collision points (Engine)
Apologies but this was an incredibly quick video put together many years ago to give as the description says, a whistlestop tour of the functions of the motor. It was never intended to be comprehensive!
Hi Jonathan thank you for this brilliant tutorial. I echo other comments please make some more. In the meantime can you show how you bound off the neckline. Many Many thanks
Great video and channel. What machine would you recommend for me I am trying to make little 1 inch to 4-inch size little dolls and wants very close or tighter type stitches that normally you can get with 2.5 knitting needle size but that's very hard on my hands so I thought this machine would work just don't know which machine I should get. Can you recommend some to me? Thank you
Very useful, thank you
♥️♥️👍👍👍👍
I have one machine like this I hope to sell it because I am over66 years can any body help thanks
Aaaamo, tenho uma máquina dessas e quero aprender a usar ela.
Hi, why is the tension better on this mast than the original? I was thinking of buying the tension mast stand for the double bed colour changer separately then putting two original tension units onto the new stand when working with 4 colours. But if you say the double bed tension is better I might buy them. Thanks :)
I’m not sure but I’ve a lot of experience working with this machine in the past and whatever the design of the original masts, they just don’t deliver the yarn at as good a tension as the double bed one does. I seem to recall some rows where it simply didn’t knit properly due to poor tension. The double bed colour changer comes with all the masts anyway so it would be silly not to use them. They are so good in design I simply don’t use the original ones anymore.
Extremely helpful - thank you!
Very helpful. Thank you so much

How do I fit the Electra 3000A motor to a PASSAP E6000
Thank you! love your voice the demonstration was excellent! Can you do a tutorial How to program the mylar card pattern? Thanks
i've done a 1x1 rib for a hat and want to do a dbj for a hat. do i need to move yarn from the bar between stitches to the empty needles on the machine and the ribber or just carry on with all the needles in work?
When going from 1x1 to full full needle rib or dbj where all needles are in use the easiest way is to bring all needles in work on both beds, then knit 2 circular rows. Ie knitting to right on main bed but not ribber, and then knitting right to left on ribber bed but not main bed. You can do this by using part buttons. You will need to knit extra rows after this to set up patterning for dbj or use the circular row on main bed with kc dial to set up patterning prior to knitting next section. Hope this makes sense x
@@jonathanscrafts that's what i was thinking but needed to be sure. it's my first time with the ribber and color changer. i've watched this video many times. it's the best of the DBJ videos on youtube. thank you for your help.
Have you got pictures of all the leads etc please
Thank you so much for uploading this. I am definitely going to give this technique a try - wouldn't have had the nerve without your tutorial.
Thank you for the video. I have a problem with everything jamming up and I’ve done everything I noticed that you have a larger gap between the ribber and the main bed. Could that make a difference?
Oh Jonathan. Marry me.
Very nice -- thanks for sharing this tutorial with us!
Where have you gone to?, I feel that you have much more to share.......
Thanks so much for your informative video -- it's a big help! 😊
Thanks for the tutorial, very helpful. So essentially, it is fair isle without any floats, instead of knitting both yarns at the same time and the contrast floating when the main is knitting and vise versa, as in fair isle... You knit in full needle rib and in slip stitch throughout? Two rows with one colour and two rows with the other, with the main bed only knitting selected needle and the ribber knitting all Needles including the gaps where needles haven’t knitted on the main bed un selected needles? So it is going to take two passes of the carriage to knit one row and 4 passes to do one complete colour change cycle? Counting rows with the row counter must be tricky with Double Jacquard! Lol.
Hi thanks for a nice video. Quick technical question, can you do short rows while knitting double bed jacquard, for example to do toe / heel shaping for a fairisle sock knitted flat this way. If so could you do a video to demo this. Thanks Tom
Hey do you have a new channel now or have you quit UA-cam. Would love to see what you’ve been up to lately😉
Love your video - thank you. What are the settings for a plain or striped Back?
Your videos are excellent. You explain everything and give clear views of the knitting and ribber beds as well as the carriages. Thank you, it is a pleasure to watch a and learn from you. Kindest regards
