I've spent hours trying to destroy all the books before he does because I thought he gains strength from "reading" the books! Even your party says something like he gains knowledge from the books. I was so frustrated ended up looking it up and thank you for this! Will definitely KILL THAT LIBRARIAN TONIGHT.

It sucks that they only let you save 15 character loadouts. I keep coming across new nicknamed teams, and I can't save them for quick reference.

I bought the game (esports godfather), tried to change the language, gave up, and refunded. Which is a shame, because I think it looks like an awesome game, but if I got to edit text files in hidden folders or learn chinese to figure which option changes the language, and there is no instruction on it from the devs, or launch option, I can't be bothered

This boss is obnoxious. i have yet to kill him without one character getting deleted and its never from undertow its from tidal scourge. Imo he doesnt need a cleave attack when he gets 4 turns and can attack you with the hand hes holding you under water with, hes just an incredibly more frustrating version of the hag from dd1

Perfect guide for someone just starting out, which is me right now! Thank you for explaining all of the things that might seem obvious to veterans but completely mind boggling to a new player. Now I can make more informed game decisions instead of just pressing buttons until I figure it out, which works on plenty of games but not so well on this one xD

Thanks for the guide. I simply power through the boss twice without notice I can hit the root. (With a Virtuoso jester the tangled is manageable as long as you kill the boss quick enough.)

Let me share with you the terrible secrets I have come to know... (My tips are in the Read More!) - A venomdrop Grave Robber is VERY effective against this boss, as it can do chip AND apply blight to both the boss and the hand itself via use of Flashing Daggers. Jester can do the same with Harvest, bleed instead of blight. - Do note that the beast is near immune to Burn, as it is submerged. Go fight someone else if that’s your main damage dealing method. - You cannot pull the Leviathan to position 1+2 while the hand is alive. Don’t even try. - I’m 75% sure the hand CANNOT reduce someone to below Death’s Door. - Blind is an incredible tool if you can have it. Lowering the chance of something like Tidal Surge to hit is a HUGE boon. - DOTs are strong against the hand, as it has multiple turns. Good luck, protégé. May the odds be in your favor…

Also for this boss make sure you kill the enemies before it very fast the enemies before this particular boss will chunk you if you let them get there blight and bleed dmg moves off they also have alot of illness causing moves so kill them fast to save items and stress

I really wish that physician wasn't overshadowed by the other 3 paths (yes, I'm even counting wanderer).

As always, great guide for everyone trying to tackle this boss and bashing their heads in. Regarding the order of kills, while going after the melee/ranged lock first is probably the better course of action, I feel like there is an argument to be made about going for the Padlock of Wasting first because that way the amount of time that the remaining 3, then 2, then 1 locks have strong buffs on them is minimized, as the heal does not come with a buff. Just wanted to mention that train of thought, which is what I used most cases up to now. I guess it depends on if your characters have useful alternatives to melee/ranged actions if they get locked out of them, like buffing others.

yeah killing the meat is just wasting time and its not worth it. I've had multiple runs where I've had everyone chow down on the meat constantly, and still killed the boss by just focusing it as hard as i can

I always don't think enough about different possible inn preparation options so your advice is most welcome. Regarding the boss visual design, yeah, it is a terrifying monstrosity, but I have to say, there are so many enemies in this game with (in a good way) hideous design (looking especially but not exclusively at several cultist and Foetor enemies) that I can't even say the baby is the worst one (in a good way).

Slight correction to the book burning: He doesn't always burn 15 HP off the books but he burns the books' HP down to the next multiple of 15. So if you did 14 dmg to the book in front of him, his burning will just do 1 dmg. Good to know in case you have to either hit a book directly in front of him or pass and stress yourself out. But I didn't know that categorize puts your team in alphabetical order, that is actually such a fun and neat detail, thanks!

Great guide! I never knew that mov resistance could help with this fight! I was surprised to see that lol, but its very interesting that this game has these "prepare for battle" mechanics
