Renovate or re-glaze old, weathered windows, using Nu-Glaze PVC profiles and Nu-Glaze neutral cure silicone. Neat, fast and long lasting beautiful windows. If you are scared that the glass might break, this method will save you time, money and worries. You can leave the glass right where it is and just re-do that ugly outer part.

Nu-Glaze met DIY Guru Riaan Garforth-Venter

Riaan demonstrated on TV how easy, quick and neat one can re-glaze a steel (or wood,poly-crete or other) window/door using Nu-Glaze uPVC glazing system. One can also just re-do the outer part by breaking off a section of the uPVC profile and silicone it in place. Even faster and just as long lasting - the lazy option!

Nu-Glaze The Alternative to Putty - www.nu-glaze.co.za/ Developed and created in South Africa, Nu-Glaze is an alternative to putty and other traditional window beading and -glazing solutions, suitable for frames of steel, wood, polywood, aluminium, and even concrete and polycrete. Nu-Glaze(R) comprises of two types of beading systems: A profile for steel or concrete window and/or door frames an...
Where can I get the maitre boxes I need the 3 urgently
or just use silicone and save money by not buying stuff that isn't needed
Made to fail. Watch the water get behind this stuff over time.
I love the idea but a lot of my customers request original look. I wish they would want this or wood trim
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks, yes, if one does regular maintenance, the wooden beadings on wooden windows are best, but the regular and timely maintenance is the issue...for a more rustic look with the same longevity, we paint over, using normal exterior PVA acrylic with a bit of technique, and it looks close to original, but will last for ages.
Watched the video for the music. 🔥
Where did you guys find this music!?! Good taste!
Will it work on wooden frame
Boy does this beg for some voiceover.
I agree, we are making a new video, and the ones I made just did not sound good. I have a few Tiktok videos under www.tiktok.com/@nu_glaze?lang=en and some private UA-cam ones where I do explain as I go. Send me your email address and I will send the links, please.
Spot the bodge, why not just re-putty it, only reason it cracked was because it hadn't been painted, i doubt that would last 6 months.
Brian, check out our Facebook page, some great posts made since onset. We have had Nu-Glaze in severe tests since 2012 - no failure to date (2022)
Wow very nice
This music sounds like MacGyver is trying to escape from a basement while he is tied up and only has a toothpick to aide his escape.
Dont forget the bubble gum! Or window putty in this case...
Not really practical if you have to reglaze 300 + panels of varying sizes
Much faster, neater and more economical than putty, Noah. That's why large maintenance companies start use the system. The proof is in the pudding, as they say...
Make sure you put some glaze under that so it doesn't leak.
That doesn't look very water right and if you live in a place which rains alot. I don't see that lasting long.
We have had it on the West Coast of SA about 100m from the seashore, North facing, since 2012 - no rot or rust...
NUTSMAN MY HELD! WANNEER EN HOE VERF 'N OU (OF 'N VROU) NUWE PUTTY IN 'N STAAL VENSTER RAAM?
Ja, Gerrit, Riaan Garforth-Venter is 'n awesome mens.
WHY DO WE HAVE TO PUT UP WITH AWFUL MUSIC . CAN THE MAN NOT SPEAK ?
They don't speak English
No doubt. Extremely annoying
@@Bardesigners I actually do, but with a heavy Afrikaans accent. We are remaking the video, with me doing the talking...byt vas boet!
Werk dit op houtrame?
Ja, Dirk, beslis. Dit is eintlik waar ek daarmee begin het...op my eie "cottage pane" hout vensters. Watter tipe hout rame het jy? Grrot panele of ook die klein, kothuis -tipe ?
The music is off putting.
Sorry Jan Rushworth, we are remaking the video, any suggestion as to what music would work better? Apart from the music, what do you think of the product?

@@TriniMonstera Thanks, we will consider your suggestion when posting/making our new series of how-to videos...😊
How easy is this to remove for people wanting to break into ones home? Security.
TheBergbok and bulleuston76, thanks for the questions, sorry I have only saw it now. The system have been put to test in a notorious South African prison in 2013. The inmates are expert vandals, but the installation looks today as if I did it yesterday, despite their efforts. Nu-Glaze is virtually impossible to remove without breaking and removing the glass/pane. The silicone spreads on the X and the Y-axis, hence the difficulty to push or cut out.
sorry when you used that tool it went all over funny as fxxk
Yip, it oscillates at more than 12,000 rpm, and it can slip off the edge, no big deal. It was just added to show there are more than one way to remove putty.
What happens when that plastic traps water in the wood beneath and the wood rots out? I stay with traditional putty and glazing methods, which fails gracefully and is easy to renew with sustainable materials.
The Silicone or Polyurethane/polymer Hybrid we use nowadays, gets placed just off the edge (about where the profile front edge will end on the frame rebate) and as the profile gets bedded into the 90deg, the frontal edge and topmost edge against the glass, gets in-bedded into the adhesive laid there, keeping water, dust and air movement out. In other words, we deposit 3 'thinnish' continuous beads adhesive instead of one. One will obviously also seal any gaps with adhesive to prevent just that. This is more than what you can say about putty... Putty crumbles in all directions (the oil evaporates and/or gets replaced by water continuously), and from inside out, allowing water and dust to seep/creep in, rotting and rusting the frame rebate without being seen. Much more dangerous. This video is quite old, so we are in the process to remake, showing new techniques.

older techniques,,after the rabbet & sash are scraped clean, the glass is properly pointed, edges lightly sanded smooth, apply linseed oil to all glazing surfaces, the oil seals and preserves, water is locked out. I worked as an apprentice to a semi retired guy for 5 years,& 15 years in window assy,,on a job to repair a vandalized bay window office space in the 90s,on removal of the picture window,,boss said it was the same bldg he had glazed & installed every one of the 150 windows in the bldg in the early 60s,with his crew of ten helpers, the one sash we had to reglaze had the putty still semi soft pliant and doing its work of insulating 30 years later. This 6 story bldg was above a busy 5 corner street intersection.aThe old guys knew what was durable & effective.
Think you'll find that's a metal frame.
