I like flying, it’s fun, I like takeoffs and landings but I hate heights, I hate being trapped in a flying tube with flappy wings 40,000 ft above the ground. Thats what scares me.

Guys, I had the WORST Aerophobia which no one here could compare with me, but I went to Stockholm two weeks ago with a plane on a 2.5-hour flight and this is my experience. I know what kind of fear is this and how terrible is, so this is my experience and my tips. On the day when I was flying, there was a rainy storm for days in my country and winds. In some moments, I was so anxious and I was thinking a few times about canceling the flight. I had that ''luck'' that when the plane took off, turbulence started to occur, and halfway to Sweden, the plane was shaking and was going up and down nonstop. Even before I entered the plane, my heart was beating strong, and I had strong fear. Especially when I sit on the seat and the plane started to taxi on the runway and prepared for take off. Now the most important question: HOW I DEFEATED MY AEROPHOBIA? 1. There is a Latin quote saying: ,,Amat victoria Curam'' - ,,The victory loves preparation''. Therefore, some 2 months before the flight, I watched every day videos of take-offs like this one here. I watched them for hours, even when I was at work. So, I was preparing for 2 months mentally. 2. I make it clear. How much I will miss in life if I don't defeat my Aerophobia now? The answer was - a lot. I know that if I hadn't taken that flight, I would be so sad when I will be 90 years old (by God's grace) that I was a coward when I was young. 3. Most importantly: I was praying. I'm an Orthodox Christian and I was reading nonstop: Psalm 26 (or 27): ,,The Lord is my light and Salvation...'', then Psalm 50 (or 51): ,,Have mercy on me, o God...'', and Psalm 90 (or 91): ,,Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High...''. I read this Psalms the day before the flight and before the flight itself. I also prayed before, during and after the flight to my Lord Jesus Christ, and on the back home too. To be honest, once again, I had fear, since I experienced strong turbulences (you can just imagine what it looks like for the first time flying and having aerophobia), but God gave me the courage and I made it. On the flight back home, I had no fear at all and the flight was smooth and normal. It is an amazing experience and I believe that if I could do it, you can do it too. Just prepare mentally weeks before the flight, ask for support from people who have been somewhere with a plane, and pray a lot. You will be the ultimate winner in the end. I will end my post here with the quote: ,,For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you” -Isaiah 41:13

It’s crazy that once you get into the air, it’s such a peaceful experience. I wish I could overcome this fear

Flying is the saftest form of travel. I started flying at a young age with my dad who was a private pilot. In my adult years I was a weekly flyer for work. I used to have premonitions and even dreams of my plane crashing. Nothing ever happened other than severe turbulence or a rare divert to a different airport due to weather. Negative feelings of when flying are common for new flyers.

I see a lot of people are here for fear of flying. I’m watching because I’m truly fascinated by planes. So here’s some facts. 90+% of plane crashes have no deaths and minor injury whatsoever. It’s more likely to get in a car crash than a plane crash. My dad’s a pilot, he’s flown planes where one of the engines routinely fail (c5) so pilots know how to handle it and engine is down and will keep you safe. The chances of anything bad happening are INCREDIBLY low, and thousands of flights happen daily, rarely crash. Hope you have a nice flight! Hope you can feel the excitement I feel at takeoff and touchdown

Worst part for me in the take off. I get such a bad anxiety I could puke. When I'm up there I'm fine. Landing is fine for me too. It's just the damn taken off. Getting on a plane Saturday..

First time I flew, it was my daughter (then 2) and just myself! Talk about a test of patience haha. The flight back however was off at 6am. The sunrise above the clouds that morning was INCREDIBLE ❤ Something you wouldn't see obviously unless you are above the clouds. It was so beautiful

Once we are cruising I’m good, it’s takeoff that gets to me. Heavy banking is fun and landing is a relief. But the takeoff is 😬

Watching this to help my crippling anxiety of flying. Went through a bad storm a few years back in a plane and it messed me up. Something about heights and not being in control as well. Trying to watch this to prepare my mind. Everytime the plane turns at 37,000 feet the g’s/mental aspect messes with me.
