Sharp Art exhibition. A tour into the incredible world of handmade knives.
Sharp Art is an exhibition where art is in the shape of a knife or a painting or a sculpture. What they have in common is innovation, craftsmanship, beauty and fantasy. Works by Rodrigo Sfreddo, Henning Wilkinson, Bertie Rietveld and others are next to Basquiat, Braque, Pomodoro. I am sure even those not into the knife work will enjoy it.
The exhibition is held in Opicina (Italy) from 5 to 9 pm until the 13th of July.

    Wow! I didn't know Tommaso Rumici was involved in designing those muscle car themed knives for Boker - so cool! What a clever combination of ideas! He really does have an incredible range in his designs. QUESTION: (I'm not sure if it is convenient for you to ask Mr. Rumici, but) What is the story/meaning behind his Maker's Mark on the LionSteel H1 & H2? I was wondering if it's an alien or octopus, and what does it symbolize or why did he choose it?

  • @ExtraCrispy357
    @ExtraCrispy357 20 днів тому

    Fascinating interview with Mr. Tommaso Rumici! I did not mind the length of this video at all because it was so interesting to hear from the designer himself - his thought process and how he developed as a knife designer. I'm planning to buy a Lion Steel H2 in the next 1-2 months, so that is what brought me to this video, but it was still so fun to watch Mr. Rumici give an explanation regarding all the other knives. I think this would be great to do such interviews with ALL knife designers! I subscribed to your channel, so I'll have to see if you also have an interview with other designers from Lion Steel, such as Mr. Michele Pensato ("Molletta"), Mr. Massimo Salice Sanna ("Max"), Mr. Gianluigi ("Wilson") Simonella, etc. For knife enthusiasts, this video is like finding a treasure! I know you could have done this video in the Italian language, and it probably would have been much easier for you both to express complex ideas, but I'm so glad you did it in English or else I could not understand it! Great interview and very insightful questions you asked. Very cool what Mr. Rumici explained about wanting to focus on function and ergonomics over aesthetics (that certainly has worked our well for Spyderco!), as well as his desire to work with production companies so that the common person can actually have a chance to buy and use his designs (as opposed to custom knives that cost thousands of dollars). That was great to hear his perspective on this. It was also good for me to learn about other Italian manufacturers, because I'm an American and only familiar with Lion Steel. I need to check out Viper Knives - very cool! I have a large knife collection, and I primarily only purchase knives made in the USA, but I make an exception for knives made in Italy, because the designs and quality are SO EXCELLENT! Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this video! 😎👍

    Interesting. The blade geometry is very close to the Senpai Tactical Tanto from Kizlyar Supreme (St. Petersburg/Russia) The Tuscan is more a 'Senpai on steroids'. Doesn't stop me to buy the Extrema Ratio Tuscan. The handle of the Senpai Tactical Tanto, was a style what came after the the very specify handle design of Extrema Ratio........... Senpai Tactical Tanto served me very well as survival knife. Also served very well handling meat, because of the very subtle transition of from the blade edge to the tip-edge. Not aggressive like you see on most Tanto knives.

    @IsitAKnife - Do you have any idea why the KC-01 and the T6 have a rounded spine, not allowing ferro rod sparks? Seems well......very illogical, strange and "thoughtless". I guess the KC-01 has a larger butt area to use than the T6 but still.....the spine is the best area to use for that task. SMH

    • @IsitAKnife
      @IsitAKnife 3 місяці тому

      The reasons are 2: 1) smoother spine is more comfortable for your thumb. 2) Rod sparks over time deteriorate the steel. If you care about the longevity of your knife and if you are a hard user, this it’s important. Even in terms of safety when performing other tasks like chopping or batoning. Cheers!

      TRC, like ER, is expensive, you are right about that, but TRC makes fantastic knives and they perform very well. They are in no way "underperforming" nor do they have a low price to quality ratio as you seem to indicate. Expensive? Yes! But they are some of the best quality knives out there. They have some real attention to detail in their designs making them perform fantastic. I've never owned an ER so cannot comment from experience there, but from all the reviews I've seen, I'm thinking TRC is on another level.

      @@IsitAKnife My black micarta KC-01 arrived today! (#170/300) It looks and feels amazing. I really really like it although have not had a chance to use it yet. I'm going for a vacation in the woods in New Hampshire soon where I plan to put the knife through its paces. Thanks again for your video, I would not have known about this knife without it. The KC-01 has a lot of improvements that make it better than the T6. Highly recommend.

    That's no where near a "bushcraft" knife design, that's a "Survival" knife design. "Survival" is exactly the opposite of "Bushcraft". Companies/Marketing sell you nonsense, just to buy and keep buing. Also that sizes of knives, do not benefit from a finger choil, actually that knife would be a 100% better design,if it didn't have the stupid finger choil. Collectors won't agree, users will.

      Thanks for your feedback! I am not sure on the survival vs bushcraft. Regarding the choil I think it is exactly the opposite. In my opinion a collector who is less into the functionality might not like it because of aesthetic reasons. What is the best blade for bushcraft and for survival (shape, size, steel) in your opinion?

      I agree re bushcraft Vs survival -- this is definitely a survival knife. Disagree re the finger choil though, I think this knife is large enough to warrant it.
