All of the musicians on this album make it was it is, but of course it wouldn't be possible without the tragically bright and delightfully dark offbeat poetry by Mark, and his painfully honest delivery. This, along with "A Man Called E" are masterpieces of melodic melancholy. Winston Watson - your drum "notes" are perfect. I'm a drummer, more of a hobby drummer, but I appreciate what I hear by you on this record. E is no slouch drummer himself as he played on it as well. Note: Patrick Warren appears on this record. I don't know much about him, but I do know he adds some enjoyable personality to the first couple albums by Michael Penn ("March" and "Free For All"). If you haven't heard those albums, give them a listen! Also of note, I love every Eels album. My favorite tunes by Eels are "Trouble With Dreams", "Flyswatter", "Last Stop: This Town". This is a brilliant album - and I can understand why they toured/performed with The Smashing Pumpkins, many of their song have a very similar vibe as the more calm/quiet Pumpkins songs ... amazing stuff!
