Sorry I just had a laminectomy and infusion from C2 -T3. 28 Staples numb hands feet and arms. I was in the hospital for 3 days and I am 3 1/2 weeks out from surgery and my hands and feet are still numb and I am not walking right. So she must be some kind of miracle. God bless her but I just don't get it...2 hrs after going home?????

Unfortunately this would have to be a MAC or even a Big MAC surgery as local/topical anesthesia fail as in no numbing at all

My neck is fused from the c1 to C6. Then a cage was put in place of my C5 disc on the anterior side. It was a 6 hour surgery.

What? 2 hours after recovery going home? Why am I being told that after my lammy that I will be in hospital about 3 days? I think that is going home way too soon. At least an overnight stay. Wow!

I had anterior and posterior on may 8, 2024 given pain med for first week, muscle relaxers for after to relieve pain of everything healing. I worked as a bus driver till may 1 st, must keep moving to be better.before and after. It’s now June 26 I started 3 days ago my walking for 5 min. Plus going into pool doing leg arm exercises. I was straightened up for first c area at c5,6,7 have 2 screws for a disc cushion. Am 64 had many accidents my left leg numb almost 10 yrs , my hands and both started getting numb , walking was painful , We decided to have the anterior posterior surgery to help lower back issues which I have decided not to touch at all. My pain added to my depression of a special person between the 2 I was eating bad not healthy so I got worst. But now am determined for my children and grandchildren I will go back to eating healthy no more fast food. It’s incredible the change when not having sugar, having my org Apple cider vinegar in the morning with water, I eat 3-4 eggs with slice of sour dough bread toasted and real butter , I drink tea, water, at night before bed I drink 1 cup organic orange juice I use a juicer. I make few bottles and keep them in freezer, I also do apple juice same way. At evening I do smoothies only berries frozen with kefir delicious. Also do spinach juice in blender then pass through sifter use the fiber part as an omelet tastes delicious with peppers, onion. For my lunch/dinner I always use peppers onions sautéed with either salmon, or beef, chicken not often . Sometimes I take to work beef broth and drink it

As an interventional radiologist for 35 years, I fully understand this surgeons attitude towards people who are not performing their job. I had a very low tolerance for incompetence, but was never harsher on staff than I was on myself. My main focus was always to minimise patient harm, and sometimes a sharp tongue was needed to ensure this.

As a retired nurse we never got to see what the patient goes through only the aftermath watching this procedure and these doctors is eye-opening and very amazing as history in healthcarehealthcare field. I am very inquisitive. My spouse is getting ready to have same procedure -so this has been very eye-opening for me to be able to care for him, at 67 years old. I just hoping and pray the doctor that does his procedure is as diligent and knowledgeable as done by thisDr.. and I do believe when he said surgeries will soon be mostly laser minimal invasive that day is coming sooner than we think. Thank God for doctors like this thank you for televising these procedures.

My gosh David. Thank you so much for telling your story. I'm scheduled to have a multi level cervical operation. I've lost the use of my left arm because of severe stenosis. I play guitar and keyboards in 2 bands and I started to notice I wasn't able to press my fingers on my guitar strings or play the piano. I've lost coordination and the more you fight it the more exhausted your muscles get and you lose all control. I am hoping and praying for a good outcome like you had. You are so happy now and appreciative. Thank you for spreading the good news , you give people hope for a better tomorrow. Thank you

For the people who are, for some reason, upset, and white knighting for the other people in the OR, are missing the point. Surgery is serious and there is no room for these insane fuckups that he already has had to correct 7 minutes in. Maybe this is a teaching hospital. Great! If these people can't handle curt words from the surgeon, they can't handle the pressure of the work and should not be in there. There is no DEI in the surgery room people. If someone does something stupid, they should be called stupid and told to not do it again, or even told to get the fuck out. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR FUCKUPS IN THE OR NOR IS THERE ROOM FOR MINCING WORDS AND TRYING TO BE KIND. Be thankful this doc calls it out quick, direct, and says exactly what he means. "Use your brain", as he says, is very clear in it's meaning. He's saving your life and you don't even know it yet.

I'm a lowly paramedic, but I did spend a lot of time learning the whole anatomy of the body, because the more I knew, the best emergency treatment I could give. This lumbar spine, however, made me question all my anatomy knowledge because everything is not where it should be. I really enjoy watching emergency room videos or surgeries, so I can recognize something out of place or that something that's in the back of your mind "there's a missing piece of info here" that you gain with experience, but this, I feel for the poor patient, the arthritis, the callouses, the scarred tissue, the nerve impingement, the dura being so vulnerable under that scarred yellow ligament. How can there be so much bony protuberances where they shouldn't be. I'm not blaming the previous doctor, I'm sure they did their best with the knowledge and treatments they had at the time. If my patient wills it, I can broadly explain how a procedure will be done, like common fractures, clear symptoms of a herniated disk, etc. But if you ask me how to broadly how to explain this, it would be something along the lines of "They're probably gonna break your spine apart so they can re-do it again." Edit: Correct me if I'm wrong, but nowadays I see back surgeries with hardware that can be removed or easily adjusted if need be, but not loose enough to be undone by daily activities.

i’m 21 and just had my first fusion on january 22nd, had t10-t12 fused and went to University of Cincinnati hospital for it and now 10 weeks post op i’ve been back in the gym for almost 2 months now and am regaining my strength and mobility everyday. i thank god and the surgeons everyday for making everything go accordingly and were it not for Dr Motley and Dr Nasser i would still be in agonizing pain unable to work. If you’re in the Cincinnati area i cannot recommend them enough, they are some of the best at what they do and will get you back to doing what you love in no time!

I had this exact surgery done 3 weeks ago. I had surgery at 0730 and I was discharged at 1130. Previous pain is gone and headaches are far fewer than before. The throat soreness when swallowing is, by far, the worst part of the recovery but I was back to 90% of normal by day 10.

Did he take out the whole disc or only the herniated part? And if he only removed the herniated part. What of the remaining disc won't it herniated again? And what of the inflammation of the debrided stamp, won't it cause chemical radiculopathy?
