Just got my bottle in the mail today and it’s so good and different I had to go to UA-cam and see if any reviews. Spot on my man this bottle is insane.

Just to let everyone know, I loved this sample so much I went out and purchased a bottle for myself! Easily worth the price for such a bottle. I will be re/reviewing this bottling due to the ABV being 80.5% and excited to see how it is. Cheers!

Bottle prices are a bit like airline seat prices -- variable, to say the least. In my neighborhood, two blocks apart, this goes for $56 or $70. Hard to figure. Nevertheless, a well done tipple.

This bottle here in Ontario, Canada goes for $95/100... I'm debating on purchasing a bottle. I'm new to Texas whiskey, and everyone recommends Still Austin.

would you say this is closer in nose and palate to a rye, or to a peated Scotch?

From Ohio and it’s mostly MGP they are distilling their own juice but they are blending still. They do a good job of blending and put out some quality juice. The barrel proof is a banger. The only negative is the price the Double double is over 100 and hard to find. The barrel proof is around 54.

Yeah, it's a weird plastic wrap. Anyway, I love this whisky. I found my 750ml bottle at Walmart for $19.99, amazingly.

Chivas and JW black are both $40 where I live. Chivas most of time for me. The flavor fills up my mouth at least as well and it’s easier to drink.

Have you tried the Bone Snapper Straight Rye Whiskey yet? It is 108 proof and each batch is aged for different lengths of time. I believe it is from same company as Backbone Bourbon.

It tells you the barrel date and bottled date on back of 750ml bottles. They have batch 23-27 or 29 at local store. Just got one today. Cannot wait to try it!

Wow, so expensive in USA, in Europe this bottle cost 15-20 dollars, and for that price is great whisky. For 30 dollars You can buy here some single malt whisky.

I thought they were both disgusting lol… only bought them because I was the biggest Roenick fan back in the 90s. they both taste like nyquill or some sort of medicine

The 90 proof Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey aged 7 years is $32. I like it for the summer since it has no Kentucky Hug/chest warmth. My other rebuys are 100 proof Old Grand-Dad, Early Times and Coopers' Craft.

I just randomly bought a bottle of Sailor Jerry and was 50/50 on whether I like it or not. I would usually go for say Captain Morgan or a Baron Samedi for a dark spiced rum and honestly, I don't think I've tried any other (I'm a Scotch drinker usually) anyway, everything you said rang true when I smelled and tasted Sailor Jerry rum, but adding the water was somewhat an eye opener as it went from that alcohol burn to an actual decent sipper once watered down and yes 100% creaming soda came to mind. Now this does lower the ABV% to say 20% if you add half water, but I actually don't mind giving me a bigger drink to sip on when i want more of a straight alcoholic drink from a change up from a cola / soda mixer type of thing. I just pour a double / triple shot, throw in some ice cubes and a splash of water, and off I go. I think what i'm trying to say here is, mixing spirits with water is something I have never dabbled in and given much thought to trying, but I can see the positives be it for taste, or even health not reaching for sugary soda for a mixer, so for that I say "CHEERS MATE!" 😁👍

How much different are these compared to Rossville Union Brl Prf Rye? That is a 7yr MGP.. There is a 7yr 117.36P Tumblin Dice in a 700mL bottle for $35 here. Try to decide if I should grab 1.

Actually they are around five years or more on the single barrel barrel proofs That's why I believe the barrel. Proofs are the best tasting as far as fry ranch

Thanks for this useful comparison of two of my favorite whiskies! From a purely quantitative technical perspective, the Ardbeg is the 'better' whisky - higher ABV, and unlike Laphroaig it's not chill-filtered and has no caramel coloring added (which is why it looks lighter). It has a phenyl ppm of 55 vs Laphroaig's 45 ppm so it's quite a bit more peaty than Laphroaig (ppm measures the phenyls in the barley after the drying process). But it's the qualitative that counts! For me, Laphroaig is a pre-dinner sip, Ardbeg is for kicking back late in the evening.
