So yeah, it's sloppy at parts, but it's tight where it matters! One of the best breakdowns ever! Thanks to Joe Crabtree for the breakdown transcription. Check him at out www.joecrabtree.com/

    Note: the two cymbals played must've been considered noise and were filtered out by the video recording software. Links to audio samples of the cymbals I played can be found below. 1st: sabian.com/product/11806xeb-18-inch-hhx-evolution-crash/ 2nd: zildjian.com/products/k-zildjian-chinas?variant=45264628089124

      Sleepytime Gorilla Museum! This is off the Grand Opening and Closing and I also really like the next album, Of Natural History. This is one of their tamer songs, definitely the most straight forward rocking like this. You should check em out. Also, if you like them, you should check out Idiot Flesh, which has some of the same members.

      The Vater pad? It's a practice pad like most lol. Of the rubbery variety...works well as a practice pad I suppose. Thanks for watching :)

    Is there any notation written for the paradiddle combination part? I don't understand what it is! Thank you :) ps. This video is so useful thank you

    • @kallewille
      @kallewille 10 років тому

      The paradiddle combination part for basic warmup (as shown) is a series of 4 paradiddles, 4 double paradiddles, and 4 triple paradiddles. Since they're paradiddles, they alternate leading hands, so you play one right, one left, one right, one left. The metronome is playing quarter notes and the paradiddles are played as 16th notes. The left and right leads fall on the down beat for the single and triple paradiddles, but falls on the upbeat for the double paradiddles, which can make them a little tricky at first; right hand lead is on the down beat, left hand lead on the up beat, right hand back on the down beat. I don't have the notation with me, but if you buy the dvd it comes with a poster and a .pdf file that has it in it. I should really upload the intermediate one, just never got around to it. The paradiddle section in the advanced is what's holding me back there. I never got the paradiddle variations up to tempo. Cheers!

      Thank you so much for explaining it! If you ever find the notation it would be really useful but if not I will try and figure it out :)

    This DVD is one of the best things I ever found about drumming: Smart, easy to understand, organized, focused on the important things... I´ve been practising with it during two years and my hands are softer than ever!!! Totally worth it!!!

  • @adzug

    ive been doing similar exercises for years with the metronome. doing doubles singles paradidles double paradidles and a thing where its a flam 2strokes left flam 2 strokes right. this i8s a good exercise but i think the secrets only time and dedication. very good, keep up good work.

  • @MrHydrogoon

    @maromera this is the best dvd possible for a beginner imo. get good sticks/pad and a metronome, practice everyday and you can progress quite fast.

  • @kallewille
    @kallewille 13 років тому

    @ maromera There are three main levels to the routine and I have everything but the paradiddle variations (which are amazingly difficult, at least for me). I've been working at it for about a year and a half now and have found my movements around the drumset much improved without really even thinking about it. If you're serious and willing to put in some serious hours, regularly, then you can't help but become a better drummer. This DVD doesn't cover everything but gives a solid foundation.

  • @kallewille
    @kallewille 13 років тому

    Let's see here... 1.) Yes, I found this DVD very useful. 2.) I could not do all the stuff proficiently and up to speed. Some of it I thought I got down years ago, but it's amazing how sloppy you find out you are when it's just you and a metronome. 3.) I think the DVD is an excellent tool. I have taken instruction from three or four drummers, and I wish I had had this when I was starting, but it's never too late to start getting better. Go buy this DVD...

    @spacemonkeyzass It doesn't go hd on video. I'll have to post the intermediate version, because the advanced version's 3 months away, minimum...that one's gonna be tough.

    Nice. I thought your camera went to full hd? oh well. Good work on the drum skillz!
