1:1 Partial Rebuild - Brunswick Pinsetter Repairs
Thanks for these vids
are you gonna be doing any more videos ?
Yeah I have plans to do a gearbox rebuild as soon as it slows down in the center
I am about 300lbs and I could not imagen working in that little hallway.
Of recent I’m pushing 290lbs and working on these sucks. Miss my high school days when I started at 220lbs 😂😂
@@thepinsettermedic oh damn. I was 230 in high school went up to 450 after breaking my back. Ya them A2 are little tight for our man bodies lol
What are those white cups in the turret ? They look ugly but I kind of like them compared to turret wires breaking
Kegel’s Pin Pockets
@shawnmbowling do you prefer them over turret wires or was that something that was already there before you were the mechanic ?
I prefer them for the corner pins. Wires are find for the rest of the
Lube the splines, lube the yoke shaft. Take the limiter off it kills the shoes
try pointing a bright light where you need to weld. That's the only way I can see what I have to weld. and make sure all the paint has been removed. Prepping is very important when it comes to welding.
I have a complete control box I need to wire up. Any tips or pointers ?
Follow the book and keep your wires a consistent color with the corresponding gauge. Also the resettable fuses are great, just make sure that they are good when you get there
@@thepinsettermedic i downloaded the full manual ad printed it out. i am gonna start wiring it up next week.
Me interesa aprender ❤
Well I hope that my channel can help teach you anything you want to learn
nice and simple. Love it!!. What is that pvc / plastic pin pocket. never seen one like that. How do they hold up.
It’s a Kegel Pin Pocket. They work great, only issue we have is whenever they crack they bounce the pins off them. It takes a good amount of time before they crack, but they inevitably do crack unfortunately
@@thepinsettermedic i will be looking int o them. Thanks
So whats a complete 1 to 1 rebuild require ? Bc this looked pretty simple compared to a full 1 to 1 rebuild like the manuel i read im kinda scared rebuilding one since i never did even though i have one lane that really needs it in my opinion with the rake cam jumping at certain points
The problem is that the deeper you pull it apart the more you’re needing a hydraulic press to put the gears and stuff back onto the shaft. It’s not hard or to scary as long as you have the tools needed
Im surprised you have a solid rake crank rod still i have 10 model As that have them finally replace a lane with a collapisible one bc the rod was so bent from open bowlers hitting rake
Yup! Slowly replacing all solids with the collapsible ones
I have a machine that the rake cam jumps at certain point in cycle, should I prepare myself to change of the 1 to 1 ?
I have a couple that do that too. They’re still running lol. Problem is that it could be anywhere in the gearbox that is missing a tooth
Shawn when are you going to do a 4:1 anytime soon thanks
Like taking apart the 4:1? I have a gearbox at my house and whenever I have the time I plan on doing a series of taking the gearbox apart to every nut and bolt and putting back together
@@thepinsettermedicthis is awesome. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this.
I have lane 5 and 6 where nether ball indicator light works on both lanes
The first thing I would look at would be the wiring from the micro switch into the control box
@@thepinsettermedic thank you
Dont like the peel and stick cork?
Haven’t tried anything else, my grandpa (the head mechanic) said that the gasket material is better then the stuff the other companies make. I’d like to try Kegel’s stuff, but not my call unfortunately
@@thepinsettermedic How many TD boards do change out a year? Also thanks again for all your videos! Are you in the states?
@kamperkarl you mean Time Delay boards right?
@@thepinsettermedic yes, time delay boards
There he is! finally see the face of the videos lol
😂😂
How do you slow your elevator down like yours?
Main thing we did was put smaller pulleys on the motor and the 7 pin side jack shaft that drives the ball wheel
So i work on model As and to me personally they made A2s so much more complicated with adjustments
I can see where you’re coming from for sure. But personally I’d stick with A-2’s lol
I am 300lbs and this is what I do. Yes it suck major ass. Just about about everyday I come home bleeding.
All you need is a spline wrench and some vise grips and your good as butter my man but i have model As and not A2s so it may be different
I had a pin jam the other day and the pinsetter black out. When I did inspection on it the turret was tilted off the black out about a inch and the spring was broke.
i just had to do this repair last week.
As for I am a new A2 Mechanic self taught in training with the help from yours and @GarageBowlingAlley channel I would be half lost if it wasn't from you guys. Thank you for your help.
i will be doing this adjustment today
I have a machine that triggers when 10 pins are delivered at 0 degrees ? Ive done this adjustment like 100 times and still get same results, any thoughts?
Like it starts the cycle when pins are delivered to the deck?
People come to these videos to see the correct way to adjust or replace these parts. Not the way you would do it, and you didn't show anything, waist of time.
I have a few that when they have an oor range pin, you pull the oor lever, and it drops the pins on the deck to the floor. Is this an adjustment that can remedy that issue. To work around it on a league day i just flip the oor latch up.
Yes the OOR adjustment is your answer
@ your a saint sir. I certainly appreciate the input. Thank you
Im glad i found this channel. Im kinda new to these and had a cycle solenoid fail. After replacing it the machine would stop at 270 on first ball non strike. The manual has this in the troubleshooting section but the descriptions suck. Glad someone shows how to do it! Thanks
9:13 When my pins drop, my buckets are slid back on the deck.
You should 1. Double check your deck cable adjustment and 2. Make sure your full deck interlock is adjusted properly. A lot of the time for me at least it’s been the deck cable. Cable is just a little to tight and it’s letting the Geneva rollers come out of the plate
@@thepinsettermedic Cables seem fine I will do a video on my YT and tag you in it. Thank you.
I have a deck that is out of align only when pin drop
I’ve had to pull gearbox at my local bowling center. The deck is in the down position 270. How do I go about lining up? The timing marks in the new gearbox?
There should be a timing indicator on the mounting plate for the Detector assembly, has four lines that say 0, 90, 180, 270. That’s been the easiest way for me to know where the box is whenever I’ve pulled them.
Hard to get good help...that ball wheel guide would have been very noisy...he must have meant return track😀keep up the good work.
So you always want the holding hook on second ball when crawling under machine ? Curious bc i never did this and now thinking about all the times i could have died 😬
Just kinda something I started doing. Heard all those horror stories of people being crushed by them, so figured it can’t go down if the holding hook is down lol
If this were a recruitment video for bowling lane mechanics all bowling lanes would be string pin. Thank you for your service!
Oh, Pinsetter "A", that means they pay you less than a "Facilities Manager" even though you still have the same responsibilities. 👍👍
what size bolt did you use? having the same problem
Short one is 1/4-20x1-1/4” Long one is 1/4-20x3-1/4” Both are Allen head cap bolts
that plate is only on the A transmissions
Dude you left so many things out of this tutorial first of all once you get your bronze bearing in your friction ring cleaned up put a light coat of oil on them the inside of the bronze ring and the outside of the bronze ring where it contacts the friction pad secondly you need to check the teeth on your time delay gear and the stop pad on the bottom of the time delay gear where your indexing latch stops the time delay gear if that stop pad underneath for the latch is rounded or is not flat then it could cause an issue with your latch not stopping the time delay gear you also have to check the trip pedal bearing on the other side to make sure that it has smooth operation going over the bump in the time delay gear for the trip pedal then on your frame you need to check and make sure that there's no dirt buildup on where the slides go and that they're not gouged up or it won't slide back and forth properly and then last but not least I always put a brand new pulley and a brand new belt on it in order for it not to squeak and drive properly I just got done doing 50 turret clutches in the house that I work at and out of 50 only two of them had a problem afterwards that had nothing to do with my rebuild
Hey buddy i checked your channel out to watch YOUR video on this. Didnt see one.
@kamperkarl what do you mean?
@@thepinsettermedic I meant to reply to izzynutz, im new to commenting/replying on youtube threads. Sorry lol
All good lol
I always run my latch a little bit rear word from vertical can I adjust the front spring for just the weight of the pain to index
Thanks so much!! This video was short and to the point, and I'm pretty sure my preference is working properly now. Subscribed!
We got ours last week but we got the Atlas Pro and man it took some tweaking for our center
不懂 為何 您不把機台降到置瓶的 角度再做調整不是比較好啊
Never had to work on the Bastard shaft in my 20+ yrs working on these. The way it is situated in there I would rather change deck lift shaft bearings all day.
Ngl my boss just handed me a book and said figure it out, i have no idea what the actual fuck im doing rn, even with the videos the terminology and everything just doesnt click for me, i feel like i dont even know what to even ask this is all alien tech to me😂
Hey one step at a time with these things, nobody learns these over night. The first few chapters in the book are helpful with learning the function and the terminology, but that’s why I make the videos. To hopefully give people a better idea of what’s going on. There’s plenty of people on Facebook groups that can help, hell I still ask them every once in a while. Just know there are people and resources that can help you with this stuff
