Doing my research , z flashing could be considered. This guy knows more than me. He helped me decide to just buy 1 sheet pressure treated plywood and only cut out the rotting spots. I’ll be using z flashing I think. I’m also struggling to figure out if u should flash explosed wood trim. The wood trim capping my existing plywood exterior is generally rotted on the top side. I could just caulk after cleaning and repairing though

It's not his repair ability but his sense of humor which is harder to establish being a multi home owner😊

I agree with how you do this, but I added a dab of adhesive to the hole. A dab will do ya, and if you ever want to remove, just drill it out

Strong work. At ~16:00 when you lay out your tile, how thick are your wedges - what gap do you want btw the bottom tile and the tub? Also, your tub was level but if the DIY audience notices that their tub is not level, they would need to account for that. Also, the DIYer might tile from the inset to tub instead of tiling up, as trimming the base of the tile is easy and not noticeable. Also, at 17:20, what dimension did you miss by 1/4"? Have you buried cardboard behind a shower in the past? No, it shouldn't ever see moisture, but... Why run the cement board vertically? I feel that would allow the board to shift and crack, whereas horizontal pieces would not. The dimensions are usually 5ft long, to match the length of your enclosure.

One of my favorite products for iffy wood is Minwax Wood hardener. It's a liquid you brush or pour on that soaks into porous wood instanttly but hardens as resin is dissolved in it. Fairly water proof too since it's resin but will harden even particle board like a rock if you use enough. Adams Rock hard putty is another fave.

This is the worst way to install vinyl shutters. The PVC pins break from the suns UV. Very poor design. This will become a high matintenace issue over the years of home ownership.👎🏻

Great advice on not having to use concrete anchors. This looks like it will be a much easier job what I had imagined also appreciated the advice to go into brick, and not the mortar, especially since they had recommended going into the mortor and not the brick.

All my soffit hangers are termite eaten I saw them from the inside when I rebuilt a door rough opening. So all the material has to come down and be replaced along with splicing some termite eaten rafter tails.

Before you call them “shutters,” ask yourself whether they can be used to “shut” the windows. These are not shutters, just imitations thereof.
