My first time trying out this format of breaking down MMA. I want to expand on the presentation in future videos but wanted to dip my toe in with this. I hope y'all enjoy!
They cool at boxing though
FACTSSSSSSSS
Always has been really
Tafa fan
You deserve more followers
Agree with this vid but most of the fighters from heavyweight could probably knock out Johnny Walker by blinking in his direction, dude should definitely not go up lmao
Lol. Casual UFC fan here. I heard of the Despaigne hype and bought into it. But I never actually got to see him fight, and now he got cut :D LMAO. Being a casual is funny when you engage with the fan media. Edit: I did see his UFC debut! Just forgot it was a UFC fight :D
Hitler and Jon Jones walk into Poland, who walks out?
When adesanya was on his anti white nonsense you boys were all about the free speech.. but now the jews are being insulted its 'too far' weirdly reoccurring themes.
You forgot Cheick Kongo imo. Awesome fighter and what a physique this guy had!
Another issue is a lot of the big athletic dudes are not going into MMA. They're in football/baseball making millions.
Jon needs to fight Aspinall or vacate the belt. If Tom is the champ, i think Ciryl should get a title shot. It's the only person Tom hasn't beat and its who Jon got the belt from.
Most people aren't big. So smaller talent pool its not rocket science. And boxing cmon Ruiz Furry most boxing heavyweights are light heavy in mma or theyre fatties too
Mma is dead
I always felt Pavlovich was overplayed.. He came into UFC as a prospect before getting demolished by Allistair Overeem in his debut then going into hiding for 3-4 years.. In his return run Pavlovich ran over a bunch of fighters who were already coming off of bad losses, with the exception of Curtis Blaydes who probably woulda smashed Pavlovich in 2018-19. Overall: the best things Pavlovich ever accomplished in UFC were: reviving Allistair Overeem’s career for a couple more years. Becoming a brutal highlight reel KO victim for Tom Aspinall. And was a body that allowed Alexander Volkov to put on the performance of a lifetime. All that aside, If there’s any current heavyweight to look out for I’d say, Mario Pinto is one of them; Pinto’s young, tall/rangy, quick on the feet, athletic, has good boxing, an aura that can resonate with fans and he can stop fights, regardless of being an overstuffed light heavyweight. Tallison Teixeira is another to watch out for.
Dude heavyweight boxing was boring for 15 years until wilder vs fury your talking as if it was exciting for a decade. Dana white greed is why heavyweight division suck
Johnny walker should go to heavyweight
The talent pool has always been weak in the heavyweight division and it’s like they’ve always solely relied on 1 or 2 big name heavyweights in every era. Jones never fights. Before that we had Ngannou and his predecessor was stipe. I hope one day they can have a division half as stacked as 155 or 135
189th sub
Heavyweight has been in some bad places in the past due to lack of talent. I mean the Tim Sylvia Alexander Arlovski Era was even worse but yeah they got the title unification bout and that's it no depth at all. And Cyril Gane is not championship caliber at all this division sucks.
This is incredibly uncharitable and basically 75% of it applies to every division. The only real point is that theres too many fatties. Other than that if you just rephrased the sentences it could apply to almost any division.
Even if Aspinall becomes the champ, the division is still dead. Who will he fight next that people would want to see? Unfortunately, HW has always been like that recently. It will always be 50/50 fights where all it takes is one punch.
Sean needs to change his style, Dricus’ game plan was simple but effective
I agree
Sorry but Cruz was never anywhere near a goat or a legend. He was a gimmicky fighter that had some good fights but lets be real he was a flashy point fighting wrestler. He was never the baddest even in his own division. When he stood woth people he got annihilated and when he lost the cardio to keep up his gimmicky run around nonsense he lost. Still a bad dude and he'll of an athlete and competitor but stop glazing. He was a B level fighter at best and an A tiershit talker.
Agree to disagree. No one else can hold the mantle of 135 GOAT in my eyes except for maybe Merab and even that feels a bit premature to say. And he only really got "annihilated" twice against Garbrandt and Vera.
People need to understand that these boring fighters would most likely beat these fighters from the golden age that he talks about
Cool. I never liked him anyway. The bantamweight division moved on without him. Shoulda learned to stay healthy. -A Marine
Yeah he shoulda learned to not tear his acl what a dork
@ yea injury rehab coulda fixed that. Not trying to hear excuses. He’s not paying you to defend his honor!
Marcus Buchecha is a free agent who I think could add depth. Vadim Nemkov isn't free agent just yet but that's a guy the UFC should really try to get. Pouya Rahmani could be an interesting prospect.
-Rizvan Kuniev is a solid figher, he is getting a tough guy in Blaydes tho. -Tallison Texeira and Mario Pinto are prospects with huge potential. -Danylo Voievodkin looked good on the DWCS but still need to see more from him. -Hamdy is still undefeated. -Valter Walker since losing to Brzeski looks more motivated and could be a player in the division.
Tallison Texeira's win last night was huge
@Jesper_MMA in just 35 seconds he showed us a lot. I think he can literally be a big problem for the rest of the division
I still in believe in Sergei Pavlovich, N'Gannou was on the same boat as him (2 losses in a row) and ended up becoming champ. Never count out Pavlovich.
MMA is garbage, full stop, just have boxing evelope it and make that the central sport.
Strict drug testing and more athletic 235 pounders cutting to 205 really mess with the talent pool of modern HW
I’ve been saying this for sooooooo long
Sergei and Rozenstruick were training partners hence the boring fight. Rozen did himself no favours with that friendly fist bump at the end of the fight. Tai still puts asses in seats Rozen does not. UFC Heavyweight as always had its problems since most big guys would rather do boxing, NFL or Rugby due to stability, pay and prestige etc... Over the the last decade the quality of the divisions above welterweight above being falling and it will continue I imagine. I think Tom is the best talented HW ever. He's big, fast, strong and can strike and grapple. He does it all without sacrificing anything. Every HW has had to sacrifice something. The lighter guys like DC and Stipe had skill to compensate but Tom has size and skill and speed. Ngannou has unbelievable power if not necessarily the skill. He came out the wrong time when most the talent is gone now.
and they just cut 2 fighters for 0 reason
It also helps that as of right now, the top guy at HW in boxing, Usyk is more than willing to fight anyone even before the Saudi money.
Johnny walker has lost 6 out of 10 of his recent fights, his chin is completely compromised.
In my opinion it's the loss of heavyweight wrestlers. The division has long been dominated by them, but right now there's Jones and nobody else. Big guys are such an athletic commodity there's not a ton of them to go into MMA.
most casual take ever
I wasn't going to make fun or try to sound superficial or whatever, but I've been thinking the same thing for a while. It seems like the last few years there's been way more fat dudes who are clearly not in very good shape at all, heavyweights used to not only be better but they used to be in shape. It's literally a bunch of fat dudes with a couple of guys who are in shape. + Tom Aspinal + Gane and a couple others. For real Derrick Lewis used to be one of the fatter guys in the division, but now he's considered lean compared to a lot of these guys haha
😂😂😂 Max at 2:24
We need a 225lb division. Anything above is Super Heavyweight
Also there's not really an amateur scene in mma. Basically every guy that makes it big in boxing was well known in the amatures. In mma I can be a waiter and rack up a record of 8-0 vs some scrubs and thats enough for the ufc to look at me. Usyk and fury both had over 50 amateur fights. I think usyk had over 100
How on earth Shamil got the walk-off KO and Sergei got the boring decision
Gaziev #1
Gaziev got a KO against an unranked HW guy while Pavlovich got a decision win against a guy that made Gaziev quit
Because shamil is the heavyweight goat?
@@edsonmariscal4051 put some respect on the goat's name
Sergey is the only guy to ever make me care about this boring dead ass division, it hurts me seeing him gun shy like this, and unable to fight the same way ever since the tom fight Not even aspinall vs jones would make me care about the heavyweight anymore
good vision for the video, pleasant watch
I've seen you comment on a few vids of mine, kind soul. I appreciate it!
Oh no, don't try to have an actual conversation about something in the UFC. It'll just be swarmed by UFCtards who can't consider anything that isn't modern era worthwhile. For real though, a major issue with the UFC heavyweight division atm is that there's little crossover athletes from other styles like there used to be in pride with many great kickboxers coming over and picking up MMA. Not saying that these hw glory kickboxers would be ufc champs but it'd certainly add a level of competition the division needs, I mean Alex Pereira was the best kickboxer before he came over into MMA. It should show how linear the HW division is at the moment as well that an athletic fast hw like Aspinall is tearing through everyone as well and how reliant every other HW was on their KO power.
Dom, legend

Sign Gable Steveson once he gets another NCAA championship
Say thank you to USADA & modern audiences. . Bunch of Softies.. "Steroids aren't allowed.. we want clean athletes." GREAT, No more roids, are u happy ?!! Now we only have BLOBS in HW division instead of a Shark Tank filled with UBEREEM'S & BROCK LESNAR'S !! Let fighters take juice, i will die alone on this hill & that's it. 🚫🧠
These videos are top notch. I am blown away you only have 121 subs, you deserve so much more!
Thank you!
Mirab is not the “goat” people are such clowns for no reason.
He is
First of all, ouch. Second of all, I think his recent streak of Aldo, Yan, Cejudo, O'Malley, and Umar certainly makes a strong case. I will say I'm still 50/50 on it because I'm a big Cruz fan plus if you factor in his WEC run, but Merab's making his mark.
@@Jesper_MMA I didn’t mean it towards you, you prefaced that with “people are calling”
