If your bike is set up comfortable for you, then I wouldn't change a thing. I put weird pull back handlebars on mine so I could sit up more erect and that makes it more comfortable for me. I just mosey along. I don't care how long it takes me to ride because I am retired. I love those flowers on your bike. I really am impressed how good looking they are. I wish more people decorated and personalized their bikes like you are. So creative, you are. Nice to see you enjoying life.

You have managed to master the skill that has escaped so many new cyclists: what to spend money on. Buy what works, buy what makes you happy, don't bankrupt yourself. Great job! I do look forward to the day you switch to a flat bar, I think you'll be so much happier upright than with a drop bar angled so far up. Good luck!

I love seeing people happy with the bare minimum and enjoying nature. You're right. You work hard to make payments on the house and everything you have to do. Living in Los Angeles is very difficult, but even so, you have to find time to feel free and enjoy time with your family.
@@GracielaOrtiz-ii2ug You are absolutely right. 🙂❤️
Those bikes intimidate me because they are so high and I have an injured leg which prevents me from moving it quickly in case of an emergency, but I like them too and if they are a little cheaper, mine is very old and it is time for an electric one and to reach 2024.😀🚲
@@GracielaOrtiz-ii2ug If an e-bike makes it easier for you to get out and ride then that is definitely the best choice for you. ❤️ I hope you enjoy every minute of it! 🙂

The flowers and pink bar tape are a very nice touch. It is possible to get an even shorter stem (about $10) to bring the bars closer to you so that you don't have to reach a far.. Keep it up. 👍

2:25: Selina's rear brake cable needs some slack taken out of it at the adjustment. She should only have to pull the brake lever a short distance for it to start to engage. The spiky pedals allow the rider to pull back on one pedal while you're pushing down on the other, giving more power. Like I said in the other video, get some fenders on the bikes. On wet days like this, you won't get roosted and dirty. It looks like you have mounting holes for full fenders, which work even better. (they turn with the front and go further down to keep your lower legs cleaner) Planet Bike has some good, affordable full fender sets on Amazon. You'll never go back to fenderless, unless you ride a lot faster than I think you do. ;-) 3:55: re nursing home wisdom, I'm glad you listen to the residents and I'm glad someone like you is taking care of our parents. 6:25: if you want to lose more weight, cut way down on process carbs. (like pretzels & cookies) Protein, fruit and veggies mostly. We discovered pasta that is made from chickpeas. The texture is a bit different than wheat pasta, but you get protein instead of empty carbs and spaghetti is still on the menu! I know, that's tough.
@@Smaug1 Thank you for your advice, Jeremy! I just noticed that you have a channel. Subscribing right away! 🙂❤️
@@SomewhereInTennessee Hehehe, you'll be disappointed in my channel if you're looking for bike or life advice content, but thanks!
Thanks for that great video and for taking us along on your li'l picnic! Re. your other bike, the same happened with me! I got back into cycling with an eBike. I challenged myself to pedal it more and more until I found I could pedal it almost all of the time. (albeit slower than I would a much lighter "acoustic bike". ) Next, I reasoned: "If I can pedal this 65 lb. beast, I could certainly pedal a much lighter acoustic bike." and I started riding my old Trek hybrid again. Then, I joined a group road bike ride and got immediately left behind on that hybrid bike. they're just not efficient, being so upright, with fatter tires and wider hand spacing that makes the torso into a parachute. Like you, I took the next step. (although you may have skipped the hybrid bike step?) and I got road bike, then a gravel bike. Now I joined the local bike club and got into better & better shape. Figured out I had to quit drinking to lose more weight and get below the Overweight BMI level. Re. your handlebar setup, that was a simple way to get more upright and make squeezing the brakes more comfortable. HOWEVER, it completely prevents you from going down in the drops. You might look into replacing the stem with one that puts the bar higher and further back. (I did it on my gravel bike, which had limited frame size choices) There are also bars available with some rise built into them. This would be The Right Way to do it, and would let you use your drops when you're going fast downhill or want to be less draggy pedaling into a headwind. I think you're going to eventually have problems with that rear rack swiveling, since it's only mounted to the seat post. You may want to look into a proper luggage rack. Re. car replacement, you will want to add a fender set to the bike for wet days. I think the bike has mounting bosses for full fenders, but if not, they make ones that snap on. Here's a highly-rated one; mine are similar to these: www.amazon.com/ACEDIS-RBRL-Bicycle-Mudguard-Inches/dp/B09SPXLQBQ/ref=sr_1_11?crid=JC4O5Q0VDNL2&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.FWFEKgn9OXE_gAnuVsJPdOdXzONrW7hqgC1PxunrgQ0TZG24QK4CAaXX-07ouRNRVR3PmHy-1T5rM4WS5IxdirTHVDIAbM98JJhYBmVLgzVWzWGr6v8vpbnW1c7CuwxCuTazpxrnuSShi3oJKVcpWFwGJgLh_6Syg3SLiGzZL2Z_vr6Vb-XwCeRm5F3iaqAIHXQ7LboRWi0vquFUTwux_sX0dnQMLcT6-64JQNmyZlca9ax-VM6y3ZGEtd6AuIezpwceGmHidT7NYEj4gPV-SsTJNG8SPLEp_ZqDZHjRGHo.CWj8RHB3XMZ2EJYhhvOW6-a25yr9hMCT-5fweNPNrFQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=gravel+bike+snap+on+fenders&qid=1731102376&sprefix=gravel+bike+snap+on+fenders%2Caps%2C118&sr=8-11 How do you decide now whether to ride your XP or the gravel bike?
@@Smaug1 As much as I do love my e-bike, i really started noticing some limitations with it nearly right away. I enjoyed riding it and would find myself going for longer and longer rides but then would worry about my battery level and would hurry back home as fast as possible. 😂 Worrying about the battery gave me a bit of anxiety! I’m an anxious person by nature, you see. 😅 I ended up buying the gravel bike to be able to go a bit further without getting (hopefully) stranded. As far as the drops go, I actually don’t use them. That may change over time. Prior to buying this specific bike, I had actually never used a drop bar bike before. When I first got the bike, I tried it a couple of times and I was scared to death. 😅 I think I’m just not accustomed to bending so far forward but I’m not opposed to trying again after I make some changes to my handlebar situation, of course! As for the fenders, we definitely need them! I just posted a video today where Celina’s backside got covered in muck. 😅When it comes to choosing between the two bikes, I tend to use the gravel bike most days and use the e-bike for groceries or hauling heavier things around. I think both are great options and have their uses. Thank you for your suggestions. I really appreciate the advice. And thank you for watching and commenting. 🙂❤️
