If you can still get inside of the Lantern, add some wax paper either in each panel or wrapped around your light source. I'm sure you like looking in and seeing all the little lights, but diffusing the light will make it easier to see the detail of the suns, which I think is worth it after all that effort you put into cutting the shapes!
