Big Changes! eBay Introduces New Fees for UK Buyers

Big changes are happening on eBay, and they’re not great for UK buyers or private sellers. They are learning this from somewhere, there is some sort of course teaching this format or something all these guys did not just come up with this idea at once. So my guess is the real scam is the guy selling theses cources to these guys, and prob is selling them the 1:1s lol

  • @ahgony
    @ahgony 5 днів тому

    I've seen these too, and I think the thing to focus on with this scam is that the kids buying the vendors are the real ones getting scammed. 1:1 refers to being fakes that are basically identical to the real product, which none of the products these guys are pushing are actually 1:1 because basically no fakes actually are 1:1, it's just a term used to try to sell them. They claim these will pass on StockX so kids think they can just buy these products from these "vendors" and then instantly sell the items on places like StockX. But obviously if this was really true then the "vendors" would just be doing it themselves and wouldn't be pushing the products onto kids and telling them they can do it and get rich. I think it's an important difference to point out because let's be real, the kids viewing those videos do not care about scamming people if it makes them money, but ironically they're actually the ones being scammed by paying for the vendors to get some overpriced bad fakes which will not pass as authentic anywhere that the "vendor sellers" claim it will. As always, if someone is selling you a "method" or way to get rich you've got to ask yourself, if they really have a method to make a lot of money easily ... Why wouldn't they just be doing it themselves? Why would they share it with people for $10? Lol

  • @SecondChancePicker

    They won't last long selling fakes. Ebay will remove them however the damage will already be done. They destroy buyer trust in the platform and end up hurting honest resellers. Great video and good points

    I refuse to give Ebay any more than 2% and I haven't had that much trouble with sales. I believe as long as you take really good pictures with a white background have good products, good description and good titles your stuff will go. I guess it boils down to whatever works for the individual and what type of stuff you are selling.

    As I am listening to you: how do you imagine running a platform like ebay without charging some fees? There are people working in the background, customer services were always helpful within the T&Cs. 24/7 helpline should be given... who is going to pay all those who sit there during unsocial hours, listening or reading from angry users of the platform? Webhosting and security alone cost a lot of money. You either charge the customer fees yourself and have ebay taking it away from you later, or the customer pays it directly. It is always the customer paying it, one way or another. There will be cases when nobody is at fault when the business goes wrong and somebody will have to refund the item to the customer or the seller. You prove you posted it, so you fulfilled your obligations. Maybe take a picture of the item in the package before sealing it, so you have a counter evidence of if the buyer wanted to claim there was a rock intead of the advertised item. Your 100% feedback will do you a service. I have had a buyer who claimed a month later they didn't receive a jacket. Bad luck, critter, I had the receipt from the post office with a tracking number and I proved it was delivered within a week. I reported the fraud attempt to ebay. Interestingly I didn't update the tracking number so the fraudster probably assumed I didn't have it. Bad assumption, critter.

    I knew those no fees will have a catch. I sell a few items. Last time I had watchers for 6 items on auction. Nobody bought anything. They better wake up and buy what they want before the end of the month, or they will pay more. I am not lowering my price anymore. If small items aren't worth the effort, like cds, I am a charity donor, I'll donate them. I have given a few before Xmas, no problem. I can also buy cheap cds for £1 or so, perfect cheap industry. No streaming, no subscriptions...

    The asterisks (*) in Code 39 barcodes serve as start and stop characters, which help barcode scanners identify the beginning and end of the data. This ensures accurate and reliable scanning, as the scanner knows exactly where the barcode starts and ends. It's a simple yet effective way to improve the readability and reliability of the barcode

    I bought like 1200 cds for $200 and kind of instantly regretting it. Seems like it’s taking forever just to clean a handful without even listing them yet. I know most cds don’t bring much profit at all. Is it worth it? Any advice?

    • @dcarbs2979
      @dcarbs2979 13 днів тому

      I usually list 50 a day. 100 is doable but you notice the effort! I've found even the lower profit ones worthwhile in terms of profit as I've financed 3 of my last 4 cars that way. But 1) it takes a lot of time - probably below minimum wage if you work it out. 2) You need many multiples of inventory to make the sales. e.g. I sell around 1-3% of inventory a month per platform. Most recently (since Covid) I've dealt exclusively with CDs and hav an inventory over 3,000 titles.

    For many of years I sold CD's, Records, Casettes, and other media formats on eBay (Formerly Back Creek Trading Post). I quit it all about a year ago. The demand for media has picked up, but so has the amount of people selling it. Companies like Decluttr makes it harder. They are selling CD's so dirt cheap. I can not compete with them. Most of the people looking on places like eBay for CD's are collectors, and they are seeking out VG+ items for as cheap as they can get them. To be fully honest. I have better luck selling any media in Facebook groups, or local flea markets better then eBay.

    Do you sell cheaper CDs in bundles? I'm selling my collection, I wonder whether people would buy all from one arist (x10 CDs) in one shipment, or if its more likely they'd buy various CDs together from different artists which the buyer would value more in terms of variety? EG, if they really like Pantera, they might already have a few of them, so instead of selling all the Pantera together, sell one or two Pantera, one or two Sepultura, one or two Metallica in different bundles?

    Did you show a photo of the back of the hat with the world "CAVS" on the back? If so, the buyer is responsible. Are you sure free returns automatically removes negative feedback? I see other UA-camrs complaining about negative feedback on items they allowed the buyer to return the item. Just yesterday I watched a video where the seller said he had to call eBay seven times to get the negative feedback removed. Even if they aren't out any money, their money is tied up until they send the item back and await for you to receive it. Some sellers use a post office box and only check it once a week. Plus, we all know how going to the post office can be a pain, especially if you are not used to it.

    I have free returns. I feel that if you don't offer free returns, some people might do something to the item to make it a Item Not As Described (INAD) to force a free return. Not only does that effect your metrics in a negative way, you then can't relist the item because now it's damaged. It works for me because I do not sell electronics or excessively heavy items.
