Great info. I’m in the market for a 12 string and found a Falcon 12 String. Could you make another video with it and maybe finger pick a slower song….. I would like to know what one sounds like before I pull the trigger on buying one. Thanks in advance.
@@jlgoins64 Thanks. There are a few other videos on my channel with this guitar. I’m afraid I’m not very good at picking - even with a 6-string.
Marianne is a great track. Wasn’t expecting that. Take care.
@amremorse That is a beautiful comment! It talks about an American girl I knew in Paris 25 years ago.
@ I’m a music snob at heart and I’m usually let down by my curiosity. But you nailed the vibe. You left lots of space.and normally I’d like the vocals a little louder but the frailty in your voice and the mixing decisions really worked. The lead picking was tasteful and measured. The light chorus on the guitar was a nice touch too. Patience and simplicity can be very effective. That’s something I really struggle with and I can appreciate it in others songwriting. I just decorate everything. I’m a 90’s kid. Can’t help myself. Anyway. I have the same guitar. It sounds great recorded too. Take care.
@ That’s a great review. The minimalism of the recording has to do with the fact that I only had access to a Boss Micro BR at the time. Even the guitar sounds come from it.
I think I’ve never seen a man in a suit sit on the floor… nice video btw was surprised by the amount of subs or rather the lack there of.
@foxtrot000 What a nice comment! I often do these vids on my way to the office and immediately feel better :)
The Gremlin is definitely my "affordable" dream amp cause I’m a big Knopfler and Clapton fan. Knopfler even used an Imperial at some point and it seems to be great for the later tweed and blackface Clapton stuff. I got my first job recently cause I turned 16 and want to save up for the supro delta king 12 which is roughly a third of the tone kings price and it’ll definitely be an upgrade from my solid state. I only have been playing guitar for a year but I already know it’ll play an important part in my life and I think I’m genuinely happier since when I started.
@ That sounds wonderful! I’m really glad you came to my channel. I know Gremlin is still a bit pricey. I especially like its versatility. I’ve done many years of solid state when I was young. Keep playing!
Hello! I use this amp with one only pedal: EQ. I cut off some bass waves from my neck pickup signal. That's sounds better. Try this option.
@@colorgrade Thanks for the tip! I have a lot to learn about EQ. Never even tried.
@@mantray6976 I have some so-called ‘transparent’ overdrives. But in the end I came up with a formula: a booster with an equaliser. For example, right now it's the REVV Tilt Booster. It's both an equaliser and a booster. I plug it into the clean first channel. If I need to warm up Amp: I do pedal boosting. In short, I've completely rejected overdrive pedals lately. On equalisation: it's mostly about removing unnecessary bass, because of which the Amp starts gurgling and locking up early.
@@colorgrade Very interesting! I like the slightly bassy sound of the lead channel so much that I only tend to add the UAFX Orion tape echo.

I own this amp in the combo model. I do not care for the drive channel at all. I find it to be too raspy, and the wound strings become too flubby. However, the real value of this amp lies in the clean channel. This amp takes pedals very well. I use a distortion and reverb pedal through the clean channel with just a couple of clicks on the attenuator to keep the volume at conversation levels. I bought this amp specifically to have the tone and response that makes me inspired to play, yet be able to do this without fear of disturbing anyone elsewher in the house. This was my second choice, as I wanted a Carr Mercury, but this comes close enough to satisfy me.
@@TheNoncritical1 I get all of that. I found the drive channel nicer when I’m picking.
I use it with EQ pedal. Cutting off some bass from my neck pickup: that's sound greater.

It would be great to hear this amp through other speakers cabinets, say 1x12”, 2x12”, 4x12” would really show what it is capable of.

I just saw your channel. Very good! I am in Idaho, USA. I wonder where you are, maybe Sweden? I never looked at Tone King amplifiers before. I thought they were for wealthy people. Now I am looking at them on Sweetwater, where everyone in the US gets their guitars and amplifiers. Your Tone King sounds great, and looks great! You got the Gremlin head. You can get the Gremlin with a speaker for about 17 percent more, so I wonder why you didn't. You have a lot of videos! And a lot of what are to me, unusual guitars! Anyway, I subscribed to your channel, thank you!! 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍

I'm considering this to somewhat cover the Gretsch Filtertron and Rickenbacker Toaster pups niches that are presently missing in my gigging inventory and collection. I love the Ric 330, but like the solid build, lower price and versatile bass contour control on the Reverend. The Ric 330 is great, I love the classic look and tones, but I'm just not sure they are a wise investment for the various, sometimes unknown in advance, gigging environments I encounter, including outdoor sound stages, beaches, etc. Often, I don't really know the exact weather conditions I might encounter, and I don't like the idea of taking such an expensive instrument and more fragile hollow body guitar like a Ric 330 into such an unknown gigging environment. The Reverends seem built for tougher conditions and longer endurance. I'm on my second Reverend Double Agent OG, so I know they are good, solid and affordable guitars.
I've had two USA Ric's and a very nice 330 copy in the past, so I have a feel for what the Ric's are like. Had a 4001 fireglo bass and a 360 mapleglo 12 string back in the day. The 330 copy in fireglo was incredible, but had no markings at all on it. Wouldn't mind finding another, supposedly it was made in the USA, even had binding on the neck and cat's eye, which real Ric 330s don't. I got my money back out of it at a time when my budget for a working inventory was lesser, so don't feel like I lost anything, would just like to know where to look for another one like it now, ha. Bought and sold it for around $400 circa 2008-2012. Bought in Memphis, sold in Virginia. The shop in Memphis was Elvis' old pharmacy (still had the drive up window), and the boys there thought the Ric 330 copy originated in New Jersey, but I really don't know for sure if they were correct.
@@nealixd.3011 As a longtime Ric user I can confirm that this guitar is in the same territory. I really like the added depth that the bass contour brings. Extremely well built, too.
@@mantray6976 Thanks, good word! I hear you on the Reverend BCC. I wish all my guitars had one. I might try to figure it out one of these days, and retrofit a few with those. I wonder if that is a patented process by Reverend, or if it is some universally available wiring scheme. Being a linear control, the BCC really gives you a lot of sweet spots in the pups to check out. I have a lot of super cool guitars, that I think about different wiring schemes for, to make them more enjoyable. Just journalling now, ha. I need to get on all that. Thanks again.
@ All that sounds extremely interesting. Haven’t seen a BCC on any other brands. I trust Guitare Garage in Paris with all my repairs. I’m not really into mods. I’m like Tom Petty: “I don’t trust guitars that have been messed with.” 😀
@ ha, I hear ya, if you can keep a nice working inventory or collection to draw from. On the other hand, Peter Frampton has one of the most messed with Les Pauls in history, ha. Even survived a plane crash and fire and was covertly stolen by a guard in South Africa for 40 some years, ha. I think it was a 1954 Custom that had the ?staple pups? changed out from 2 to 3 humbuckers. He had been a Strat guy before that. Frampton Comes Alive double LP is still a classic to me. Tone to the bone.
Not only resembling Sir George Martin, but he's also the best-dressed guitar equipment coach on UA-cam!

I'm always looking for a good pure "retro tube" sound. But everything I heard here was much harsher than I would have a use for.
@@donmunson4802 That’s a fair point. I’m not happy with the sound either.
@@mantray6976 Try it true a Nextone amp if you can have access to it. These amp con compress s much like old amps.
@@mantray6976 what I suspect is the lack of headroom. Main issue with most digital stuff. You might want to lower your guitar volume send it in an overdrive pedal with setting on drive at the edge of breakup… of try to add a OD in the ME90 to simulate this. Digital never gonna replace the tube tone but new technologies help us better than ever to get close enough to have some fun or spare our tube amp once in a while only for a quick play before to leave the house…
