WNBA controversies and free press I am beginning to believe that this is the plan of the WNBA. Every flagrant foul, every racist comment, every snub brings a media sunami. Fans rage and there's opposition backlash. X gets thousnds of comments on both sides and Bloggers get a ton of fodder for their clips and news outlets get thier next story. Do you understand how much FREE press the WNBA is getting. It’s millions and millions of dollars worth. I'm not blameless. I look for info about Caitlin all the time. But we have to consider the idea that we are part of the problem too. The WNBA has manipulated us and we still follow.

The team will lose millions. Not a smart move.

Get rid of the illegal defense rule. The NBA is not basketball without helpside defense. Anyone who has ever played likes watching tough defense. And those people who played suck family and friends into watching games. That’s why women watch football - cuz guys who played promote it and get super excited about it. The illegal defense rule is equivalent to removing sacks and interceptions from football so teams can score more touchdowns.

I left a comment on a short, and I’ll leave it bc of the shout out to my team that I love. But I take back my sentiment bc the attack is still centered just on Caitlin fans when it’s not just her fans,.. and the way it is said isn’t some fans, you attack all of us. Did you see the Sky players crying about the attacks received from their own fans? Journalists at that exit interview tried to steer that convo towards Caitlin fans no doubt, but they’ve double downed on some of the most hurtful attacks coming from Sky fans. There’s a lady on Twitter (RM) who apparently rolls deep with wnba players / media (can’t confirm how tied in she really is), and she made a disgusting statement about Caitlin that I won’t repeat but was extremely harmful to her and triggering to so many. She associated Caitlin with something truly horrific. Where’s the energy for that? I have defended Diana from the start, many of us have. The media is the one who repeated this Diana story and riled up the more casual fans. Media should be able to talk about groups of people, or fans, without generalizing us. And Twitter should not be your measuring stick. Justin is an example of someone in the media who doesn’t want to give Caitlin credit for anything and blames only her fans (all of them) for all the terrible fan interactions that happen. It’s not hard to see. Terrika has more nuance and i feel like she has seen the good side and bad sides of different fanbases now. I will follow her, but I won’t be back here.

Thank you for saying nice things about our fanbase. We don’t get a lot of that, and if Caitlin wasn’t so special to so many of us, it would be easy to move on from somewhere it feels like you aren’t wanted, or are publicly associated to the behavior of boundary-less internet trolls. If people are honest with themselves, they’ll admit that nobody but her “delusional” fans believed this team could be here from the start. She didn’t have to win championships at Iowa for fans to follow her to the next level. And she didn’t need to win everything this year for us to stick around. You got to look at the fact that the NBA play way more games than the NFL, with way less players on the roster. So of course NBA contracts are far more guaranteed than NFL contracts.

I find the comments of Caitlin Clark not being able to make Olympic trials because they were scheduled when she was in the final four disingenuous. Did rookies Diana Taurasi, Candace Parker, and Breanna Stewart attend all the Olympic practices 3 years prior to the Olympics will making deep ncaa championship runs? Probably not. I got league pass to watch Caitlin Clark, and I will cancel my subscription when the season is over. Never watched any women’s basketball until Caitlin in Iowa. Overall I prefer how games are reffed in college than in the WNBA. There is way more airballs in WNBA and an uglier iso game compared to college. As of now I don’t think WNBA has the ability to promote their own stars, and must rely on college superstars to transfer their fanbases to the WNBA.

What the problem for the fever is the Boston and CC play two different styles of basketball and Boston is also going through her sophomore slump season due to not training in the off season. She only did weight training…she is off of shape to play the style that CC plays which is fast paced…she is being moved from the center position to the forward being expected now to be able to set screens in a totally different location from where she is used to, get the pick and roll from a different position and still having to get them chemistry with CC. Temi on the other hand is the better player for CC. They have built a great chemistry, she is able to run the floor and knows that if she gets there CC will find her…trust has been built between them. Problem is she is injured due to this high number of games in such a short amount of times. We are lucky CC injuries so far hasn’t been something that’s kept her from playing so far but even if it should like the NY game she wouldn’t sit out because she never wants to disappoint fans because she knows that many has paid alot of money and some traveled far, changed their schedules, took of from work, given up important events to be able to come to her games that she never wants to not perform for them. This team truly needs to think about getting through this season and building around it i the off season for next season with some trades and building blocks in the draft. They are going to need another high volume 3pt shooter and a big in the post…if Boston can’t adjust to this style of play it won’t be fair to either her or CC if after this season to force her to remain on the team and not trade her to another team to would allow her to thrive in her style of play. I would love if they could trade her for Camilla because Camila can run the floor but there is no way that the sky would give up Camilla…the sky isn’t playing a fast paced style of play and Boston would fit in more with their style of play and would thrive under the coaching of Witherspoon. Another trade to make would be trade Kelsey Mitchel who to me doesn’t fit in with this team and is too much of a ball hog. Once she gets the ball she never really passes it off…at most she will pass it off maybe once or twice in a game but that is it…she too would be great to trade with the sky for Marina Marbry. Then if Coach Sides would only get off her butt and play Celeste instead of Wheeler of the bench all the time we might have a more defensive team that has a chance at both high volume shooting and defense but she is too stuck on this line up.

How about at a bare minimum, they defend her against the other teams player that are inappropriate putting her in danger

I have prime video and did not watch sky/ mystic's game. I will not watch any Chicago Sky game as long as Reese and her Dawg are on the team.
