Some of these questions are weird. How do you think Forbes verifies wealth. They cannot verify the wealth of most Africans especially Nigerians. Dangote and other billionaires like him are easier to gauge based on the fact that they have companies listed on stock exchanges. Those are the sorts of things Forbes might use. Other times it’s people actually submitting their assets so they can make the list. The average wealthy Nigerian would never open themselves to that scrutiny. Not necessarily because the wealth is ill gotten but simply because…. why? Alakija can be verified based on her business, Elumelu, Adenuga, Otedola etc. So while getting into Forbes is probably a more verifiable way to know who might actually have it, it does not mean that every billionaire, especially in a country like Nigeria has been accounted for.
