The last week of Creating a Series! Adding the final details and contemplation. I can't stress how important it is to hang your pictures on the wall (or set them out on the floor), step back and look at them. What do you like (lines, shapes, color, texture, space, value, forms)? What do you not like? What techniques did you use that you want to try and play with further? Why do you do art? Why ...

This is our 9th week of working on a series and by now I know you are probably getting really tired of your series. Stick with it. This is where things start to come together! Keep going! Clarify the picture by covering up whatever makes the picture feel too busy or whatever stops the eye from moving about the picture.

This is the hardest part of painting a series. Let's refine our pictures. Be more intentional. This is problem solving at its best. Did you know that creating art uses the highest level of thinking? If you study Bloom's Taxonomy, you will find that creativity is the highest brain function! Wahoo! We are giving our brains a workout today! Keep going! You can do hard things!

This is the 7th week we have been working on this series. Today, I would encourage you to lay out your paintings and take a step back. Some artists call this spiraling out of the paintings. It is an opportunity to step away from the paintings and see what is working and what is not. Here is a simple tip that is going to seem pretty obvious: DO MORE of WHAT YOU LIKE, and STOP doing the things yo...

We are halfway through our series. Today we are adding pattern. There are so many ways to add patterns. You can use oil pastel and do a wax resist with watercolor over the top, you can paint patterns with acrylic or ink. You can draw patterns with pencils, crayons, or oil pastels. Patterns are so fun to create! They also add interest and rhythm to the art piece!

This week we will be starting our 10 week series. We will paint 10 paintings in 10 weeks. To do this we will work on them at the same time. This helps us to move through the pieces without getting too precious about one. This will alleviate stress and pressure so you don't get STUCK. It will also allow drying time between layers. Don't overthink it. Just enjoy putting down the first layer! This...

I don't have facebook but I'd like to get your hand outs for my homeschoolers. Is there any way you can post as pdf on here? We are excited to learn art with you!
e
Excellent instruction on how to introduce lines in a very creative and colorful way. without limiting the child’s imagination. Thank you
Thank you so much for doing this free! My kids are really into art but we are homeschooling now and I haven’t had the funds to buy art classes or curriculum so this is a huge blessing ❤
Great videos, Jenna! How big is your drawing board? What I saw online looked smaller than yours.
Thank you so much! This is an incredible resource!! What a blessing.
Thank you for posting these videos lessons. They are exactly what I've been looking for.
I cannot find the pdf for the class lessons
It is so wonderful seeing you doing more! My Jenny is going to love this too! ❤❤
Interesting, you and Try are the best!
Good to see you back!!!❤
This is awesome- thank you for sharing these great tips!
Thank you so much!!!
I am a Single Dad, and I was so looking for something exactly like what you are doing! Please keep doing these things!
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you found it useful 😊
This is Sweet! My kids are starting this today. Thank you so much for your effort to make something like this available to everyone. I am a homeschool mom of 6 (ages 1-12). I live in rural area and have been looking for more resources to grow my kids interests and education. What a great resource and the fact that it's free is such a blessing! Thank you again❤
That’s amazing to homeschool 6 kids! Kudos to you. Truly, that is incredible. They will be so blessed for it! I’m so glad I could be a part of your homeschool journey.
That painting at the end was incredible, thank you for the lesson!😊
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Thank you Jenna for sharing your knowledge. This is so great for home-schooling, we use these lessons each week.
Thank you! I’m so glad they’ve been helpful for you!
this was very helpful 😃😃😃
Oh wow. Thanks this is exactly what I was looking for for my children. Thanks!
It will problem take two weeks to start so I can get supplies
I would just use what you have at home! The supplies are more of a suggestion.
Hi Jenna Is it possible to share your handouts outside of social media? Possibly through drop box or googld docs?
Thank you so much for doing this Jenna! You’re amazing!
I'm having trouble finding the PDFs on your Facebook page. Could you please email the forms to me as well?
Thank you for your videos! They have been a blessing to my family. We love art!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad that they have been helpful for you. I LOVE art too!
I want my son to do these lessons for homeschool this year. It seems like a great resource. I see that some of the weeks are missing. Can he still understand the lessons and follow along without the missing lessons?
All 52 weeks have been uploaded and should be there. Let me look into why you are not able to find them.
@@jennalaytonart7909 When I look at the playlist weeks 5, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 44 are missing.
@@jennalaytonart7909please we hope to see more like this too in your future. Keep your love of art alive! ❤❤
Do you have a week 44 video?
wow
I LOVE this! I don’t know how you work on tiny little, seemingly random bits of the piece and yet have it come together as a unified whole. So great!
How charming!😃
This is so interesting!
This was really cool! I love applying oil pastels with a stencil brush.
You should frame this!❤
Just found your channel. Amazing resource! Thanks for posting.
I think I may also put large sheets of paper on the wall and let them do figure 8 lines and then cut up the paper so they can paint on them
I was thinking of ways to do the movement with 25 x 10 year olds and to keep the mess to less. 😉
Loved this one too. Another way to create movement lines you can do a marble roll.
I love that we hear your children in the background. Thank you again for a lovely lesson.
Haha. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thank you!
Love it, cant wait to try
Thank you Jenna, I found this one unusually difficult but enjoyed every moment.
what is the age this class is for?
Thanks for your question. I have a 9 year old that is able to do most of the lessons without any help (she is a pretty capable 9-yr old) and I also have adults that do them along with their kids. I would say the perfect age is probably 12+ but with some help, younger kids could do them. If they start feeling frustrated because the demonstrations go pretty fast, you can slow the videos down in settings or pause and rewind.
I am not on Facebook. Is there another place to get the PDFs?
I am happy to e-mail them to you.
Hi! Would you be able to email the PDFs to me as well please? I’m not on Facebook either.
I briefly viewed a few of your classes. However, I realized in the playlist they’re not in order. Is it important to do them in order (I’m assuming so)? And if so, what is the order of the classes?
Hi Jane! Honestly, most of the classes can stand alone; however, they do have an order. I'm not sure why they don't play in order on the playlist. I will have to look into that. They are ordered by Week, the week number is underneath the title page on each video "52 Weeks of Art Lessons". Since it has been a source of confusion, I will probably retitle them to make it easier. Thanks for letting me know.
I love the lessons. They don’t seem to be numbered. Do you have the sequence listed anywhere?
Thanks, I'm glad you like them! The classes are numbered on the watch screen (underneath the title "52 Weeks of Art Lessons" but I should probably put them in the title. Thanks for reaching out!
What age(s) is this course designed for?
Hi Michele!
I just found your channel and I want to say thank you so much for doing this! I think this is going to be a huge help for our homeschool art 😊
Thank you for your kind words Jessica! I am so glad that you are finding it useful :)
So, with the tube paint, you don't completely mix in the paint to whatever water to put in the well?
Nope. I like to keep my paint as pigmented as possible and occasionally spray them with water so they stay flexible but not diluted. I hope that makes sense.
This was great. I loved it. What grade level would this be?
Thank you! That is a great question about grade level. I would say that any grade level could do the collage portion, but the drawing portion is more advanced and could be frustrating for younger artists--so probably for that part at least 5th grade and up.
Wow, so thankful I came across your channel. I have a daughter whom will benefit from your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! I’m so glad to hear that 🤗
What a great way to learn art from a very talented artist and teacher!
Thanks! 😊
Your painting is very beautiful, I enjoyed much and wish your every success. Thanks for publishing such a beautiful work.
Thank you! :)
