I don't know what the people listening to this version compared to the Minnie Riperton are talking about. Chante and Kenny sound way better. Maybe it's because I'm younger than the ones liking the older version. I like Minnie's songs but Chante and Kenny sang this way better. It's something missing in the older version. This one is soulful to me.

Chante Moore and her ex- husband Kenny latimore did a nice job doing s remake of Minnie Riperton& Peabo Bryson's version. Chante Moore sings a different way than Minnie even though she didnt hit the note as long as Minnie. That's just how her voice is , you can make critical comments but it is what it is. Chante always loved and admired Minnie from a youngster.The original version is better because Minnie's voice and style of singing is untouchable. Deniece Williams worked with her and said Minnie voice was incredible, and Niecy can hit those notes too.We shouldnt cut down an artist for paying homage to a extraordinary singer from the 70's. Minnie would've loved this, even if you dont.

YESSSS they both were given the gift of singing in the same 'whistle register.' Some other singers include Mariah, Shanice, Christina Aguilera, Betty Wright (yep) and Demi Lovato... there's more though. It's a very rare vocal ability, but that's why Chante is one of a few singers that does this classic by our angel, the late, great Minnie Riperton justice!
