      Thank you for the comment 🙂 however, I didn’t say that for the following reason At time of writing this, Germany and Spain are tied with 3 titles each. So they are both the most successful teams in Euros history, not just Germany As well as this, 2 of Germany’s 3 wins came back when they were West Germany. A unified Germany as we know it today have only won the Euros once

    Good video. I don't really agree with the Euro 2016 take, I think the underdogs were really fun to watch (Hungary, Wales and Iceland). Yes, the champions were not the best team, but that's the beauty of it. The fact that any nation with a decent bunch of players can shithouse their way to the trophy, that is what football is. It is not always about the quality of players or team, more about the moments that they have.

      @@SimpleSoccer2024 This idea that Ireland could have gotten much further or even won the World Cup if Roy Keane played proves to me that Keano was Over Rated and this coming from a United fan from Ireland myself. There are several players much better than Keano who played in better International teams than Keano and NEVER won a World Cup in their careers. Examples include Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bruyne, Johan Cruyff, Marck Van Basten, Paolo Maldini, Puskas, Michel Plattini etc. So in reality, it's only Cork Sentiment and Irish Sentiment that Ireland could have won that World Cup if Keano played.

    • @paulearle3780
      @paulearle3780 2 місяці тому

      @raymondbutler834 Ireland would not have won that World Cup as they'd have been handily beaten by Brazil. But a final? Did you see the way they qualified? Unbeaten, outplayed Germany in the group stage who themselves got to the final, had the better of it against Spain and lost on penalties. They didn't lose a game in 90 mins from the extremely tough qualifying campaign ( grouped with Portugal and Holland) to the World Cup itself. Turkey and Korea made the semi finals. You add a world class midfielder who had massive influence on games? Like when he dominated Zidane and Davids in Turin? Then yes I definitely could have have seen a semi final or final in that world cup.

      @@paulearle3780 That's all wishful thinking. Work Ethic only gets you so far especially if you have limited ability to go on and win the World Cup. @paulearle3780 2 місяці тому

      @raymondbutler834 can you read? I've not once said they'd have won the World Cup. Also in 2002 Keane had just dominated Ballack in the cl semi final and led united to another prem in 2003. He also dominated against Holland ha. You're clutching at straws. Ireland had far more quality than S.Korea and Turkey. That was the one competitive Ireland side that actually kept the ball and played football. They had players from all over the prem and multiple prem captains in that side. Players like Robbie Keane and Duff aswell, not to mention an outstanding keeper. Ireland really could have gone deep in that competition with Keane. Hell they were a penalty away from doing so without him.

      Keano wasn't in the right frame of mind to compete at that World Cup. He wanted to leave multiple times before he actually did and when he was interviewed about returning to play in the 2002 World Cup he lacked conviction. For those who defend Roy Keane to this day they've got to ask themselves "Do Great Players and True Sporting Heroes back down or walk away from a challenge?" I feel bad for all the Gaelic Footballers and Hurlers who only get expenses paid and have to work full-time jobs compared to Keano who got handsomely paid throughout his soccer career. It made no difference who was the Irish manager back in 2002 because it's the same Keano who fell out with Fergie 3 years later despite a successful 12 year association together.

    I've not seen the full documentary, but one thing usually overlooked is the impact of covid restrictions at the time of the final. In normal times, hundreds of thousands of fans up and down the country would have gone to a pub to watch the game. At the time though, the only way you go go into a pub was if you'd pre-booked a place seated at a table, so going to a pub to watch a game was out for the majority who'd normally have done so. This meant far larger number than normal went down to the stadium for the unofficial fan zone the area became, and because it was unofficial, rather than drinking the expensive and usually weak beer served in the fan zone, fans were snapping up crates of beer at supermarket prices, and drinking more than they would have done had they been in a pub.

    Thank you for posting this. Things were chaotic on Wembley (Olympic) Way leading up to the stadium for hours before the game. It calmed down a bit once inside, well before kick off, but it was obvious in our section that a handful of people didn't have tickets and had to keep moving seats. Not all seats were sold for the game as the country was coming out of Covid. This meant that there were seats available for anyone that gained entry unlawfully. This wouldn't have been the case if all seats had been sold. This video was our experience of the day: ua-cam.com/video/jXZNWxu7ji8/v-deo.html

      @@SimpleSoccer2024 Once inside Wembley we didn't have a clue what was unfolding outside. We were stunned to see the images on the news the following day.

    Honorable mention to Leon Goretzka, worth 40m and an absolute superstar on the rise when he also joined Bayern on a free.

      For sure! It was between him and David Alaba, Goretzka can consider himself unlucky

    Honourable mention to Mark Bosman, whose court battle paved the way for players to leave at the end of their contracts, as well as negotiate pre-contracts before they expired. Thanks for the video, enjoyed it!

      It works much better for alliteration purposes 😉 Also, “Soccer” is derived from “Association Football” - which is the original name of the sport
