Can you further comment on the common clunck we get on the LX470 coming out of Park and Reverse? Is it because of the bearings, worn out drive flange? I had my steering column replaced a couple years ago and seems as my left side wheel is a little loose. Thinking need to repack my bearings BUT Your comment on the "Clunk" got me Thinking as I have that issue as well for years now... thanks
The most common issues on a 100/LX470 related to the clunk when shifting from P to D or R to D are: worn CV axle splines, worn drive flanges and worn front differential bushings. Badly worn U joints in the driveshafts can cause it too, but you will also notice excessive vibration under acceleration over 30mph or vibration when letting off the gas over 30mph
@otmcruisers Great info!! Thanks
When you talk about 3 turns you mean 3 360 degrees full turns correct?
Yes, 3 full turns
very clean overall for 190k mileage..
Same as a Toyota Land Cruiser
Dang Scotty, i thought you kicked the bucket!
No joke I thought that was my GX for a second. Looks good!
what axle are you running up front? 80 series?
80 front axle with 105 parts to make it 5 lug
so i take it you need to also run spacers because the 80 axle is also more narrow?
@@LosAngeles1791 yes, you have to run wheel spacers. Or you can modify the stock 80 housing and widen it and run longer shafts. Or go custom axle housing
@@otmcruisers so question if you don’t mind, how do 105s run 80 series axles from factory when they’re more narrow, do they also have spacers or is the axle housing different
@@LosAngeles1791 I’m not sure whether the 105 is a longer housing in the front or the 105 rear axle is shorter than a 100 rear axle (most likely)
Damn good music! CCR at their best!
What do Japanese people listen to when they're off roading?
We wonder the same thing
What size tires r u running on the lx470?
37x12.5x17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT
Great video! Keep putting them online! And great lighting. We can actually see what you are doing! Appreciated!
@@beachtimehawaiibth7222 thanks!
front axle from an 80?
Yes 80 front axle with 105 Toyota parts to convert to 5 lug
ok thank you! do you need to run spacers or just the bolt pattern conversation, i believe the 80 axles are much more narrow if im correct
@@LosAngeles1791 good question. I ended up running 2” wheel spacers in the front to match the rear 100 axle. There are other custom options that require cutting the front 80 axle and adding spacers or going a full custom axle.
How urgent is it to do an alignment after the leveling kit is intalled? I'm wanting to do this plus new tires but those things will be at different businesses. But I only want to do one alignment. Thanks. Great video.
As long as it’s within a few days, you will be ok.
you list upgrades - bumpers, wheels, tires, etc, thanks!
Я вижу модуль зажигания а это означает что это бензин
He’s removing the old 1fz engine in this video.
Did you not replace the race for the wheel bearing ? If not why? Need to do this soon to mine with 300,000
We only repacked the wheel bearings. We did not replace the bearings. Anytime you replace the bearings, yes you replace the race with it. Most come together.
Forgot the weird gasket that goes behind the wheel flange adapter
I’m trying to buy a bearing hub assembly for my lx 470. Any recommendations?
Landcruisers never say Die.....❤
Good video!
I know I am late to the game for commenting but WOW your method is absolutely the best! Thank you very much. No offense to this guy ua-cam.com/video/RuJZmPN7GCY/v-deo.html but I started using his method and had the rod ends and all removed and still couldn't get the downward flex needed to get the bottom end of the strut out. I changed to your method and completed them both in about 1 hour. Also I found if you put a 4' long 2x4 under the bump stop you can sit on it and bounce to get the bottom end out.
What pioneer head unit did you use?
Love it
Torque spec on the lower ball joint bolts are like 220 ft/lbs. So essentially it requires herculean strength and I could never get it to torque down to spec. It was a little freaky seeing my torque wrench bend as I put all my might into it. I figure when I saw it bend a little that that was good and tight enough!!!
If it’s not bending, you aren’t doing it right! 😂
How long this take you? Wow you really made this look so easy compared to other videos tutorials. Great job.
We’ve done enough now, we can knock it out in a little over an hour.

I just bought an 09 GX 470 and had the timing belt and water pump replaced. I think I have a CV boot cracked and will probably need the CV replaced what other issues do I need to look out for. First time GX owner. By the way my office is only about a block away from you I would like to come by and check your place out if that is OK
Hey Todd, congrats on your new GX. Bring the GX by sometime and we’d be happy to look it over with you.
What was going on that you knew this had to be done? Any footage on this?
Great Job you make it look so easy
what were the symptoms that led to this repair?
@@summersifysummers4702 Loose wheel bearings or no maintained history on the last time the bearings were serviced.
👍👍
Well done man! Simple and straightforward. Definitely wouldn’t mind more content like this.
Thanks Ashton! Let us know if there’s anything specific you’d like to see next 👍🏼
It’s for sale?
Inline v6 huh? Genius.
Yea, you know what I meant haha. Hard to get everything right no the first take on the fly, but thanks for the correction...
It was cool to see that one at different stages.
but right on axles/brakes
Inline v6 huh?
Thanks for the useful video, definitely will give this a go on my cruiser. I'm curious to see how your chassis turns out after. How would you compare this to RSA Rust Prime and Penetrol? Keep the video coming.
Looking forward to when I can bring you my lx450 for some maintenance. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks Jeff! Let us know how we can help.
