Review of the 835 Buck Selkirk. Also a disassembly of knife to show how one might fine tune their own personal blade. Video is specifically for liner lock, folding pocket knives. #edc #buckknives #traditional #review #selkirk #youtube

Spyderco Shaman review 2023.
Переглядів 7 тис.Рік тому
My opinion on the Spyderco Shaman in 2023. I do not own the rights to the short “dayum” clip in this video. Please like and subscribe! Thank you.
The wallet is way to expensive for what you get. Also it's made in China
Made in china = bad? 😂ok
Have gone through many of the popular brands but my 836 always remains!
Yes, the Ridge Wallet can scratch up your cards over time. The tight fit and rigid metal frame cause friction when sliding cards in and out, especially if you're frequently accessing them. This is more noticeable on cards with raised numbers or finishes that are prone to scuffing. If card condition is a concern, it’s something to keep in mind with minimalist metal wallets like the Ridge.
I have one, but I dont use it because my front pockets are occupied. phone, vaporizer, pocket knife. no room for a front pocket wallet. I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to sit on a ridge wallet.
Wait till you try the Nextool E1
Update- I have disassembled my newer aluminum wallet from ridge since posting this, and the cash strap is now separate from the main elastic used to hold the wallet together. Nice design update from ridge.
Have you seen the new Ridge Lite? will you be doing a review?
@@conorforecast9982 thanks for the comment. yes eventually I will review that one as well, just have to run with it for a while so I can give a knowledgeable review
As a mediator owner, thanks for the vid. Only thing I see "wrong" is the big screw/bolt that runs through the blade. It's backwards from mine. Other than that it worked for you so I guess it doesn't really matter. This video gives me confidence to fix mine. Auto open is currently not working.
Hey thank you, that’s why I decided to throw something up. Even if it was rough to watch. 😅 You got this!!!
He said “ouw my pussy hurts”🤣💀
Great review! I think the Super Tinker is a great option for a slim carry EDC. I like the Field Master for the saw even though it's slightly thicker. I also carry a Skeletool sometimes and like you when I carry the Skeletool it's my only knife. I'm generally the same with SAKs too though. Oh on a slip joint the lock up is called a half stop.
I got my Shaman shortly after they first came out. Think I paid about $195 for it. I swapped out the scales for some custom ones by Aramis which look awesome. I've been carrying the Shaman daily since 2019 and still love it. No chipping at all.
No problems with my shaman I carry it every day
I love this knife...have it my self....ur right about tools...its not the quality of the tools...its the quality of the person who uses them....great vid m8😊
There are few countries where it’s legal to carry a locking knife!
The Rambler is my daily carry, the Huntsman for hiking/camping.
My new super tinker fit my new 4 inch leather belt pouch on my cargo shopping pants! I used it for 4 inch tuna can. Smooth cut. Easy once I got the angle right. Push cut! Super sharp! Diamond flatn strop to razor edges! Scissors works for finger nail repair or paper or plastic trimming!.
Super tinker is a banger!
I was so close to buying this knife and I watched a ton of reviwes on it and I was pumped. The price tag annoyed the absolute shit out of me but I saw so many great reviews I was like "well this knife has got to be amazing so it's worth it".....and then I learned what the price of this knife was a few years ago... I understand every single thing has gone up in price and knives are no exception. But when this goddamn knife came out it was 140-160 bucks and was in s30vn. I couldn't do it. Knowing that the knife is the same as it was years ago but for no reason it's 150 fuckin dollars more? The price gouging in my eyes. The knife isn't ANY different from back then and yet I'm paying Microtech prices now? Dude another 100 bucks and I could have a stitch in my pocket instead. I'm sure the knife is amazing but there's no way it's 300 bucks. There's PM2's right now going for 160 and I'm paying another 140 bucks for a shaman becasue the blade stock is thicker and it's chamfered scales? Can't do it. I'll wait for a sale to happen. If I see one for 200 bucks it's an immediate buy.
I would 100% compare the dimes scissors to the waves scissors lol. Not that big of a difference. Wouldn’t compare them to the Victorinox tho. But wave. Yea, fair comparison
That’s a nice knife!
That's good to know because I have the Victorinox Super Tinker too and 3 Victorinox Swiss Army Knives as well the Victorinox Classic SD, Victorinox Explorer, Victorinox Recurit, make the perfect companion for a Leatherman Tool since I like to multi task using both tools for all every day needs for fix, hack, build for any project or hobby I love the video.
As someone who has both a Manix2, and a Shaman- I can rock the Manix without intimidating anyone. I absolutely love that the Shaman feels about the same weight and it’s really a beast. Also people should spydie flick a manix if they wanna have a suprise snap in hans. Ball cage lock shenanigans 😂
My Swisschamp is 15 years old, and still performing strong. Mine has horn scales, so I con not appreciate any excess of use in them as I would if I had chosen cellidor scales. Anyway, spare scales are being sold by Victorinox, for replacement. Can not compare it to my Swisstool (or Leatherman, Gerber or any other), as they pley in different leagues. Thanks for your video!
I’m about to buy one on Amazon it’s about $227
I like them both, I carried my wave while on active duty for a long time, and was also my edc in my civilian life. As far as the scissor for the wave goes, on the thumb part as youre cutting, shift your thumb slightly to the left as you're pressing down, it will give you a cleaner cut. Sometimes like to cheat though and just find a sweet spot and glide the scissor. Im starting to carry the swiss more, i like how light it is compared to the wave where i have to wear proper pants/jeans with a belt
Up north we use the hooks to tighten hockey skate laces
Just ordered a shaman today. Hope it lives up to the hype when it comes in will be my first experience with one
I own this knife and I love it so much i still like watching reviews on it
The hook has lots of uses. Ye have to use your imagination a bit. Its great though.🦾👀
How about a swiss tool
The Shaman is my favorite knife in my collection. I exchanged the G10 with Flytanium titanium scales, flamed deep carry pocket clip and a blue anodized titanium backspacer from Metonboss.... . Feels and looks just awsome... but yes it is heavy... therefore I went for a second one, modified with Flytanium Carbon scales, Flytanium titanium backspacer and deep carry pocket clip. Still could not decide which one I like more....
Yeah , Ive been a Wave man for many years. Got 3 different models that vary in physical size in the hand. Was about to get a Surge but I picked up a Tinker in an outdoor store one day. Now my Wave is still in my daily bag , but the Tinker is in my pocket daily, or the Climber, or Fieldmaster. So I've kinda gone all MacGyver now, 🤣 Maybe I'm a SAK collector now,...we'll see 👍 Cheers from Oz🇦🇺
For many years I've always carried a Spyerco in my pocket along with an OLight i5T EOS as EDC. For the last 4 years i've switched to a Skeletool and its time to try something different. It now lives in my EDC sling pack. About to purchase VST as and EDC with pocket clip. Thanks for review and insight!
If you need a plier you could buy a Knipex Cobra and wear it together with your Super Tinker, the advantage is that you can use both the plier and a screwdriver at the same time you can't do that with the Wave.
What would you prefer: Super Tinker + Wrench (Knipex for example) or Deluxe Tinker (has the pliers)???
Needs a saw blade.
The Fieldmaster is the same knife with the saw blade.
@@flynnireland I'll take a look, thanks
Hey the huntsman in black all the way! Need the saw. All the best Jotan
2 bourbons deep!
This knife feels special in the hand. So solid without being too bulky. Due to the smooth scales, it slips into the pocket with no issues. I really do love mine. Looks great, has great solid action, feels solid with great ergonomics. By far my favourite Spyderco to date.
I have found for day to day, the 84 mm tinker works for me. Some day I want to have a custom built sak, but that’s down the road. Thx for the video.
3:14, oops, not 30oz, you missed a decimal point. The Super Tinker weighs 84 grams, 2.96 oz. If truly was 30 oz it would be 1.88 pounds. Almost since the original Leatherman Wave was released, I have owned one. Tried the Wave as my EDC, for me it is too bulky, and heavy, thus rarely carried as an EDC. After purchasing the SAK Huntsman my Leatherman Wave went in the drawer not much used. Very much prefer the SAK Hunstman over the Leatherman Wave.
Add the amazing Victorinox scissors to a Tinker and you have what's probably the best EDC pocket knife ever made. I could happily live forever without the parcel hook. I've used it to twist a loop into wire, but that's about it.
Trying to pick one up soon, just can’t make my mind on either this version or the murdered out one🤔
If it helps, the one I have has a beautiful stone wash finish. So if you get the normal one, the beauty will still be there. I am hard on my knives, I bought a black PM2 a few years ago and it looks very beat up. The stone wash is holding up very well. But you can’t go wrong!
As so many other here i like to add that if you get a Knipex Cobra XS you are set. 👍 Which Victorinox you choose is a personal choice based on ones needs. I rock a Farmer X daily.
Great knife have two of them.
I just bought the shaman in 15v I payed 320 for it then I put titanium scales on it and a mxg deep carry clip so well over 400 into it and I'm cool with it
People bitch about the price, yet still pay it, I love spyderco, I have the PM2 and tenacious, the shaman is hopefully my next knife
The only thing more overpriced then a Shaman is everything Benchmade makes.
Is this smooth g10?
Yes very smooth. Kitchen knife feel in hand.
Very awesome video! Im just a new subscriber, i too have switched my leatherman surge wich has been on my belt for over 7 years with a victorinox farmer X alox, still rocking that thing
I actually dig the channel Holmes, just genuine and honest review. I appreciate the content, I been wanting one, but idk, PM2 is my baby 😂 I do want one eventually tho. Everyone overpays sometime or another 😂
