Hi I'm Peter, also known as Neo Land.
I like to talk (a lot) about my basses and bass related gear. I'm also into remixing stuff by the way.
Check out my project WiPe , which is a 5 piece band with only two members.

Your explanation and description of this device was very good, but you didn’t demonstrate the morphing ability. You just ran through the various preset sounds. Can you possibly do another video that actually shows how it sounds when morphing from one preset to another when using an expression pedal or when using the time parameter?
Again, you are right, maybe I spend another episode on that in the near future. It's not really bass related though. How many bassplayers out there are using this device...
@@neoland666 , Anyone doing a search for information on the Lexicon Vortex will find your video to be of interest regardless of how they plan on using it. Keep in mind that it was designed to be used as a live performance effect for guitar players, not studio use. I found your video when I was looking for any info on the Lexicon Vortex, wasn't looking for information on using it with a bass guitar. It's a fairly rare piece of equipment, so there are very few videos about it, and it seems that almost no one shows how it sounds when the effects are being morphed. We all want to hear it being used to actively morph from one sound to another when used while playing an instrument. 🙂
@@jpdenk Ok, I will consider it 😁
@@neoland666 Thank you.
They sound all so good that you don't keep it from possible! 😉
@@MrMarkstrat Don't take me in the mailing!
you always have an amazing tone, i also have all 3 but prefer my P with a 70's Jazz neck
Hi, thanks for the review. Can you tell me how much it weighs?
Well...., no I had this bass on loan for a couple of days, quiet a while back. So honestly I don't know. What I do know is that it wasn't obviously a heavy or very light bass.
@@neoland666 ok, thanks.
Hello! Do you know something about headless bass Shelter Space Craft Model? i have an opportunity to buy one but in the internet these is no any information about a factory, wood ext.
I've come across a lot of Steinberger copies over the years, but I never ever heard of Shelter. Looking at pictures of that Space Craft model, it does look like a decent copie. At least there is a decent bridge on it, not some Chinese thing.
@@neoland666 yeah. it seems to have the same bridge and the nut as riverhead bass has. it's like these are both crafted on the same factory or used the common accessories producer
l2 & synapse - bonfire the rest
Don't cherry pick please 😁
Lovely colour
Why does the LED screen flash back and forth between different numbers ?
The first digit is the amp, the second are the cabs I scroll through. The unit was in edit mode.
@@neoland666 Ok thanks. I've got a J Station, but I haven't used it in probably at least a decade and I'm setting it up again. So far I'm having latency issues running it into a PC, but I'm also going though a Yamaha / Steinberg U 22 interface, which is probably the problem.
I understand, I have not got any issues with latency, so you maybe right.
@@neoland666 Did you have a foot switch running with the J-Station ? I've got a newer 3 button Digitech footwitch that works perfectly with mine, as I just discovered.
No, that's the only thing I was missing (I also don't use it as much, as I use too), but wait.. I seem to recall using a round weird looking TC Electronic midi controller. But where did I misplace that one....hmmm 😄
Wow, sounds great. What are you running the J Station through for volume ?
It went through the UAD Apollo without processing. Except the post LA2A, which I mentioned.
@@neoland666 Thank you. I'll look up the UAD Apollo and see what's that about.
Opinion: in the playing demo, XL sounded more punchy solo, but in the mix, the XT blew away the XL, which sounded a little lost.
Man ik what they are trying to do but it just isn’t working Warwick does it right
Awesome basses, but they weren't produced in 1989. They were mde in the mid 90s for a couple of years. The quality is amazing on these basses and the used prices are starting to go up!
You are right, as an non native english talker, I, once again, mispronounced the year. In Dutch we first say the year and then decade, in English it's decade and than year. Excuses.
I actually own the Squire and love it.
Wow usually when people compares basses,we can hardly hear a difference. But here fk that Charvel had a perfect sound, while the Fender was super trebly. Are you sure you didn't touch the EQ ?
Nope, didn't do anything with the eq's.
I have a ND Design nxt4a bass and it is by far the best bass I ever had.😊
You didn’t alter the settings on the interface end, did you, Neo?
No, I used the same preset for all three basses. "Rock A"
Not bad at all, Neo. That’s the best way of demonstrating that all three of them sound different, whether they were built at the same factory or not.
my Harley Benton JB-75MN Black weighs 250lbs!
Woah, that's heavy!
Love that sound
sounds like you have the bass going through some effects. would have been nice to hear the natural sound
At some point in the video, around the 7 minute mark, I tell exactly which effect is on the bass and why. Chorus indeed. I would love to do another video without effects, but I sold the bass about a year ago, so that can't be done anymore unfortunately.
Sounds like a much cheaper alternative to a Wal bass.
Really? I dont dare it to compare it to such a high quality bass as Wal. Nevertheless, I'm really pleased with it. 👍
Neo which one did you like best?
It's really a close call, quality wise. But from a design standpoint, the Spector stands out for me. It's just such a beautiful bass.
This is played by Joe Preston
Ah, but what exactly?
Sorry, I misunderstood your remark. Joe has got taste 😁
@@neoland666 I was refering to ex Melvins and Earth bassist Joe Preston. But I have to tell you got an amazing collection of Basses.
Thank you, well in the end, it all comes down in spending a lot. Suddenly you got a collection. 😊 In the case of this Axestar, great bass, but unfortunately it didn't stood the test of time. I sold it a while back.
I had an 08 American L-2000 and I didn't really like it. Too much syncopated ringing from the locking bridge and late at night the pups would pick up radio stations and I could hear them coming through my amp. Sold it with Billy Sheehan's signature on it a few years ago. I much prefer my Korean ESP Surveyor 400.
Interesting, mine doesn't pickup any radiostations, thank god. But I must confess I only played it at home.
Lobster is right. Variax sounds nothing like the real models except for acoustic. Stingray is laughably bad imitation.
Ok, let's agree to disagree then. :-)
@@neoland666 You're not comparing the tones with no effects or processing. You added distortion so of course you can't hear a difference.
Tell me one bassist which plays DI all the time. I do not add distortion, just an amp and cab sim, which doesn't seem unreasonable to me.
@@neoland666 The point is that you're comparing apples to oranges. The Variax Stingray dry sounds nothing like a Stingray dry. That's not opinion, that's fact.
@@mattfoley6082 I admit it isn't 100%, but that is with all the other simulations also. But it does get you in the ballpark I think. And if you don't agree, I'm fine with that. 👍
The GL sounds better. Other thing could experiment with other amp and cab simulations ?
Good idea! Thanks!
@neoland666 You did an amazing effort in bringing all these basses for us to see and hear. But of course that's expensive, and going more into pedals,multi-effects etc...Would keep the channel a float for a lot less money and me and the guys would still watch. 🤘👍
@@Exercise-01 Yes that's a good idea, but if you look back in history, I did quiet a lot of pedals also. But I certainly will keep it in mind.
@neoland666 I know iv seen them.
I hope you get betterNeo
Thanks!
I have the G&L CLF Research L-2500 Series 750 Bass on my list :)
Also an interesting bass.
@@neoland666 Beast of a bass!
I like them both I think the P is a little brighter.
That's right, but the precision has a maple fretboard, that could be a reason (and the pickups ofcourse).
Thanks for the review and getting to the point with the comparisons. I am really impressed with the DoDo bass, and it sounded a little over driven but that has its place in Rock and Metal. I still liked the CV 50’s Precision a little more. I am seriously considering this CV 50 or the 60’s precision? I had a 60’s Precision bass when I was in high school back in the late 70’s and mine was Olympic white with a tortoise shell pick guard and I put a BadAss bridge and a brass nut on it and a man who was a luthier who worked in the basement of Boyd’s Music Store Burlington Vermont and he worked on my bass and my friends guitars. I really love the way the 50’s p looked when you kind of rolled it up and down and it caught the light on the front and back. I never knew that it looked so pretty because apparently others don’t have the right light to bring out its sexy business! 🤩🤤🤗🤙
Your welcome!
Lobster is een van de weinge mensen op you tube die echt kritisch durft te zijn op basgitaren, waar anderen alleen maar jubelen.Maar in dit geval ben ik het wel met je eens!
Gelukkig. 😁
I want that bass (5string only) i dont care if most of basses are better tone than that, i really like gibson style but full scale 34 to 35
Go for it! I'm only not too sure if there is a 5 string variant.
I recently got the pedal and I want to use it with my bass but I have a problem, when I activate the pedal the bass signal is cancelled, how could I solve that problem? What other pedal should I have?
I love the fact you react, but I really don't know how to help you. It seems that the pedal is broken. Unfortunately there's no other pedal which can do the same thing, just because of the use of the footpedal for movement in the sound. Good luck!
@@neoland666 No, the pedal is not broken (it is the bass signal), anyway, thank you very much for responding! A big hug from Argentina! 🇦🇷🫂
Alright, there is no low end? Can't you compensate that with an EQ?
@@neoland666 Exactly! The signal disappears when I activate the pedal, I will try with a Booster pedal maybe it will work that way
@@leandrogado111 Yes, I would surely try that!
I actually like them both.
You are not the only one 😁
Great device especially for studio production. 👍
Are all those bass presets included on it?
Well I covered most of it. Ofcourse it's more tailored for guitar than bass.
Greg Edwards used one of these in Failure to get some sweet pitch shifting sounds out of it
Nice to know. I know Eat Static used it also quiet a lot, back in the days.
I know its an odd question... but what camera were you using to record at 1:12 - 1:17 ? Thanks! Loved the video :)!!
I'm not sure but I believe it was an old Fuji photo camera. Instant lofi 😁
@@neoland666 Hey thanks for responding!
Your welcome!
🤟
Neo what effect were you running this bass through ?
To be honest, only an amp simulator (Ampeg SVT).
I am surprised at the tone. I have my eye on the Westone Headless bass.
Really? A super headless or Quantum. I had the last one a couple of years ago, I regret selling it.
the pickup looks like the one on my Aria Pro II
I have the sunburst model and added original Fender chrome pickup & bridge covers. Not sure if they would fit well but they fit perfectly on the Squire. Looks great.
Nice work!
Do you have a video of the clean sound of this bass, Sir?
Well, no actually. But I will make a closer look video soon, where I will also play it DI. Stay tuned!
Sounds amazing dude 🙂
Really? Thanks! It's all the bass ofcourse 😁
Squire and USA sound best to me
I own this pedal. I never tried the sansamp. Is it worth spending the extra money?
Well, I did buy the Sansamp Deluxe, because it had memories, and is built like a tank.
Thank you for your video.I will give you an advice. When you make a comparison of two instrument just write how much every one cost. That is very important. You might compare Fodera with Chinese bass and Fodera will sound better, but that means nothing, because Fodera cost 7000$ ,but Chinese cost 200$.
Your welcome, well in fact I buy for 90% second hand basses, and I'm not gonna tell you how much I paid, obviously. What I can tell you, in this case about Doodad, that this was a bass( I don't have it anymore), in the exact price range of the Squier.
dumb video once you switch up the parts !
