    What also surprised me about this and the city game was the stats in terms of control possession. Usually even when we've had a result it's been constant under the cosh smash and grab whereas with both of those games and especially this one we maintained far better control and possession. That is encouraging. Certainly something to hang his hat on after a disastrous few weeks.

    Cutting cost for ffp is fine just like anything when you need to save money you stop the non essential but to be honest he’s taken it a step further than needed

      @vmmg-ro3dm this has nothing to do with ffp though - a £40k a year charitable donation has no impact on ffp. I understand non essential costs need to be cut to be more efficient but this & the Busby family stuff is disgraceful & completely goes against what makes the club special

    Talking about our focus on commercials... Remember when woodwood referred to us as DisneyLand... Coming for the brand as much as the football!! Ffs He also said something ridiculous about our brand being so strong that playing performance doesn't impact on what we can do on the commercial side... "We can do things in the transfer market other teams dream of".... Again red flag... Not even gonna quote the sweinstiger shivers quote... 😢

    Ineos need to lay out their roadmap we can't rely on history & fan loyalty to paper the cracks. I genuinely think giving more academy players will inject some needed energy & hunger when the current squad is clearly failing to deliver... That's something out fans will get behind.

    Good take mate... Although there are some negatives to constant chop and change I think fail fast to get to the right solution is better than our previous approach of dwelling on decision in hope that something just comes good. Where it really needs to happen is on the pitch with the players who clearly don't fit it have the right attitude. Only takes a handful of rotten apples to upset the cart. Season is a write off already so I'm not adverse sticking in some of these talented kids we've got. Think it's a good point about the weight of the shirt... Players from within to some extent have already had the UTD experience and are more capable of expressing themselves. running hard has been a common theme with this squad for past 3 managers... Maybe some fresh legs are needed.

    I heard he was a good communicator but you can tell in minutes of listening and watching him he has a completely different aura about him compared to Erik. Iv watched a couple of the training sessions and I pray to god he can have the impact we need. I'd imagine a bit like some of the other managers that have done well in last 10years in the premiership... You instil your philosophy and you replace the players that dont or won't fit to it.... And the difference is now we have a hierarchy and structure that will support this no matter who the player is and what contract or money they are on.... If we continue to play over paid hyped players who won't pull their finger out but happily take £300k a week he's gonna find it extremely difficult. That said iv got a good feeling if not still a little cautious and badly burned from previous hopefuls.

    • @ChatUTD

    Feels like all the parts are now in place in terms of structure... I still very much doubt the players we have are anything stage 1 players... I hope Rubin can coach these individuals into a team similar to how his sporting team work. There are no superstars in that team but they are so effective as a unit. They run much more than these lot do that's for sure. Hopefully systematically he can replace them players with his own players. Good analysis of Eth funnily enough that Coventry game was exactly same for me... Was embarrassing performance... I had no expectations or hope for the final. Funny how things turn out. He should have gone then though.

    Mate, this really hit home for me. Like you, it was my dad who got me into supporting United, and the stories of legends like Sir Bobby, Georgie Best (who was my dad's favourite), and Dennis Law (the first King of the Stretford End) were my first taste of what it meant to be a fan. You've captured it perfectly - Sir Bobby for me was just different We’ve been blessed with so many greats, but genuinely hand on heart no one compares to him. His two-footed brilliance, his work ethic which resonates with me (you know what I'm like as a player), and sheer optimism with every strike of the ball - but more than that, what a GREAT man he was. In a world where most of our modern heroes are often flawed (not gonna mention any names!), Sir Bobby stood apart. His resilience, coming back from the Munich disaster, carrying that weight and still going on to achieve all their dreams, that’s for me is just something else. It’s not just about what he did on the pitch, it’s who he was off it that makes him the most revered United player of all time & my no.1. Your video nails it dude, and it’s so important we keep passing these stories on to our kids, like our dads did for us. Loved this one pal.

    I couldn't agree more. The disgraceful treatment of the 250 long term staff at Old Traffird will be the defining legacy ofRatcliffes's involvement with United. Not a new stadium, not anything else - but the heartless way that he treated ordinary loyal people. Get rid of Rashford and save £15 million a year. And take Mason Mount, save £13 million a year. Finally the media said the board met to sack Ten Hag. In reality the met and sacked Sir Alex !! How much lower can these clowns go ?? It's disgusting.

    Great video and assessment of where we're are... When you put the fact and figures up it's quite damming but also inevitable. I genuinely think the exec team that have been instilled "on paper" should or could do a great job but the start to their tenure and decision making has me seriously worried. 100% agree with the inevitability of all this we know how it ends and it begs question why they haven't had the foresight to anticipate this and make some difficult but needed decisions... It's bullshit as you eluded to, to simply put it down to timing. I think genuinely there is a belief, certainly with fan base (but also the club) that we have to give managers time regardless of not seeing progress at 2yr mark.... A lot of fans hark back to Sir Alex nearly being sacked after 3 years and the what ifs... But the football landscape has changed, even references to Klopp and Arteta don't hold true either because at least you could see a style of play and indication of where they were heading. I didn't get that with any of our previous managers bar maybe Ole & let's be honest he was only gonna take us far but also wasnt helped by the shite recruitment strategy. The pattern of lack of support for managers in their third term has been a woeful pattern ( until now) but that reinforces the notion Erik isn't right man... And now we sit through another inevitably boring and frustrating season. What has really irked me today is reading about Sir Alex losing his "benefits"... I get the club is trying to be more efficient etc... but whether he did some things we don't always agree with that man has done wonders for our club... And the fact we've got hyped up over-paid players not fit to wear the shirt, getting played week in week out regardless & getting paid 350k a week.... And we decide to take a couple million off the greatest British manager of all time... Says everything that is wrong with our club. Big decision need to be made on and off the pitch and neither are happening in the right way or quick enough. Feeling quite disheartened.... Yet again! You can predict what's coming. Players down tools, results go wrong way, Erik sacked, RUUD in till end season, start again with new manager probably comes in late & doesn't shape his squad in time to hit ground running. Fail to shift the over paid players rinse repeat....

  • @LeonTaylor-g8u
    @LeonTaylor-g8u 3 місяці тому

    Great point about Zirkzee coming into this chaos with very little support... I'd say same for Hoiljund expected to lead the way without any other influences around him... It's quite unfair on them tbh esp as a striker in a team that is hugely lacking goals. That said hats off to Garnacho who looks like one of the few who has the balls to step up and try and be that person to make things happen. He can be frustrating but he is brave. The result was probably in hindsight a good one but how we got it with that team selection has baffled me. Evans had a master class and I think without him in we lose that game. Iv seen villa few times this season and that was very much an off day. Interesting MoD analysed our shape last night in particular the midfield which does look all over the place. Surely Erik sees this... If he does then he must be encouraging it but for once I agreed with the pundits we lack the basics in terms of triangles and options... It's chaotic at times and when we're bent out of shape it forces us to play passes that are never going to make it or puts us under pressure. Bruno is our most threatening player but he is guilty of pulling the shape out... It's something he has fix imo as it's costing us on the counter. Interesting to see what comes next... We all want exciting fast flowing attacking football but I feel we need to be a bit more pragmatic sometimes. This team has no sense of seeing out a game and managing last 20mins. Back to basics.... 😂 In our third season after spending millions on players!! Think that says it all... Only matter of time till they announce him gone imo

  • @LeonTaylor-g8u
    @LeonTaylor-g8u 3 місяці тому

    Nail on head.... We needed full take over and full clear out. This is the result of not doing it. Slight improvements and moments but I don't see any progress in afraid. Ineos have made some big mistakes already and that annoys me massively.... As always great analysis and like the stats you bring in. I worry for the next manager and the one after that.... It's clear it's not just the manager... It needs also a clear out of players. We've just spent summer signing Ten Hag players... 😢

  • @LeonTaylor-g8u

    Very positive... You can only beat what's in front of you and we did exactly that. Maybe only criticism in second half was that we sometimes tried to score.thebperfect goal and I'd like to see us just hit the ball... We might have seen a couple more goals. But a much improved performance and also what you said about playing with confidence and smile on faces. Rashford was a completely different character... Still some same complaints about dribbling into dead ends but he took his goals really well. I'm not gonna let up too much on him until I see this performance against premier league teams week in and week out but I hope to see that smile and body language continue. One shout out was Urgati thought we saw where he can really be a useful asset for Erik. Garnachos second goal started by Urgati anticipating the pass and being on front foot to win the ball but even better he just gave it quickly. Didn't try to take on players or over complicate it and it worked a treat. When I think back to Liverpool and Southampton games we took too many touches and over complicated it... Against Barnsley both casemiro and Urgati kept it simple. Good analysis.

    Great stuff. I'm so glad someone has mentioned the Rashford contract debacle. I was talking to Leon yesterday; we said the only reason he is being picked can be a minutes or starting clause. The terrifying conclusion would be that Erik genuinely rates him, which if he's watching what we are then he's totally out of his mind. Sadly like you say it all feels like we are just bang average. Unless some drastic change in play happens and Erik suddenly can't stop winning then I imagine we'll have a new bloke at the helm come January. God knows who, but the carousel will continue. I obviously want him to succeed, but it's becoming harder and harder to defend some of these decisions. Like you say Bruno (who I actually thought had a poor game overall) always has that one pass in him that just wins you a game. Hard to look forward with positivity, but as always, come Sunday morning I'll be anxious as hell, the bastards. #Glazersout #MUFC

    Without being your cheerleader here on YT, another great vid. As with your commentary on the CB position; I agree and I would say we have the strongest defence we have had in years. The idea of Martinez, Yoro and De Ligt as the main players is the best we've had since Vida, Rio and a young Johnny and Pique. As for Rashford... I can sense your restraint. I am trying to refine my repost. So he's bound to start tomorrow and if we are completely honest, it's not deserved. One of my biggest questions for Erik is the outright refusal to drop him!? As for Shaw, I can't help but feel aggrieved. I know I'm United before country but come on. He started one game for England, which was the final, and now has pulled up with an hamstring injury. I agree with you on the Community Shield. I think we did well and actually outplayed them in some aspects, but that wont wash in a serious game this coming season.

    Great video again mate. Absolutely agree with your picks. Thanks for the responses to my questions, as you asked I'd definitely say Wheatley looks really dangerous. Watching him a fair bit, he seems like a great finisher and I quite like his aggression. He seems to be genuinely pissed of if he misses even one shot. I really wanted Fish and Bennett to step up as serious contenders for a decent CB pair, but I'm not yet convinced. As for your caution of previous years; yes I've been victim to many of those you mentioned. I remember in particular for me was Will Keane (brother of Michael). I was convinced he was the next big thing. He was banging the goals in every week (at least as I remember him, although it's been a good decade). I do think an injury or two set him back, but still it's a hair's breadth away from make it or break it. I also remember for Giggs' short tenure Lawrence and Wilson coming through and everyone went nuts. That fizzled out pretty quick! Anyway as always, great stuff. Off to watch your preview for tomorrow. Cheers bud! G

    Great analysis maye.... Not a lot to add and certainly nothing I disagree with. Really disappointed with how negative the performance was... There's some clearly talented players who throughout the premier league season have been tremendous yet are unable to replicate that for country. Makes me conclude it's the setup or instructions. He's got a dilemma with Kane... I think your comments about surrounding him with pace and players able to fit into auxiliary strikers when he comes deep is spot on but Southgate won't do it? His subs are baffling me and like you can't understand why mainoo isn't thrown in there for his composure in the middle of the park. Id be using Palmer too. I think his comments after the game about Kalvin Phillips was the killer for me... Bit of a Moysey comment which has zapped any confidence I had left. That said one big performance could be a spark but I'm not holding my breath... Fair play to Denmark I thought they looked really decent.

    I'm glad you do this mate... Makes my day we could probably swap a lot watts app messages or every now and then a face time call but I love listening to these. What a great day... Tbh I didn't expect this at all... I primed myself for.disappointment so to get that performance and win and share it with my lad and daughter was great. We're miles off but this could be a foundation. Not sure what comes next or whether ten hag is part of it but I hope with a new structure above we can start to rebuild. Can't always be the managers fault.

    Ive toyed with the idea of Jose or someone with the character to shithouse our way past City in the final... Would make the occasion more fun and fill me with some optimism because at the moment I'm genuinely not looking forward to it... A cup final! Sound a bit spoilt saying that as most fans of any team would love the chance for that special day... But the last 12 months of the ownership debacle and disappointing second half of the season... Has left me feeling void of any optimism. I think in fairness if this is curtains for Erik, he does deserve at least to see the team out at Wembley. Iv got a feeling though especially in this last week with the rhetoric from likes of Gnev Carragher and Keane.. that there seems to be a bit more favour in Erik having one more season. A lot can change in a week though.

    Broken. That is a very apt word for where United are now. And I have to say, I blame Ten Hag for that completely. The job of a manager, no.1, is to encourage & get the best from his players. ETH has done the exact opposite. He has broken them. Most of these players were not bad players when they arrived at Old Trafford. Casemiro was not a bad player, he won every honour possible. Sancho was not a bad player, and his side has, quite rightly qualified for the Champions League final. Anthony was not a bad player. Ronaldo is still one of the most consistent goal scorers in the world. Even Rashford had huge potential. DeGea - golden gloves - sold out. And as for our academy players, Greenwood, Pellestri, Elanga on & on had huge talent. Somehow or other ETH managed to destroy them all. A player playing well, take him off at 60 or 70 minutes. A player with a great 90 minutes - put him on the bench next week. A good manager picks roughly his best 11, picks his main subs, everyone knows where they stand. Has a style of play, a system that works. He BROKE them. Broke them all. There is humour in everything. There is as much chance of ETH becom8ng the next Sir Alex as there is of me becoming a yellow back rhino with pink spots. Does SJR, or anyone in Ineos have any idea how disheartening it is for long time United supporters to watch that excuse for a manager speaking on behalf of our club, week after week, disaster after disaster - without being removed. He has humiliated our players and broken our club. Take him out now & put in Steve McLaren as caretaker for now. If he is not sacked what does it take to sack a manager ? If he is not gone, I cannot, after 50 + years supporting Utd, I cannot watch him destroy more good young footballers next season. I just can't watch it. Enough is enough. We are broken.

      Hi John, thanks for the comment. I'll reply in order of what you said; Casemiro - not the first past his best player to come to United, start well & fade. Sancho - a known troublemaker who had been problematic under Ole & city didn't want him. Fine in a decent structure like Dortmund but not close to being a United player regardless of the manager. Ronaldo wanted to leave before EtH arrived, he saw the slapped arse, spoilt brat element to the dressing room & knew he'd made a mistake coming back. Rashford had his best season for United under EtH & has been average for years. Greenwood has nothing to do with EtH, the club made that decision. I agree he has misused Antony, under used Pellestri (& add Amad) & we shouldn't have sold De Gea. He took over a team that got 58 points, lost 12 games & needed absolutely gutting. The incompetence of the people above EtH meant there was nothing close to a clear out & he got that shower to finish 3rd & win a cup. Against Barca, we played the best football I've seen us play post Ferguson (with Weghorst in the team). So he's not been all bad in my opinion. He still needs to go but think perspective is important

      @ChatUTD Thanks for the reply. Some of the issues you raise I agree, some not. But my overall point is, not one of the players mentioned did ETH bring out the best in. In fact, the opposite is the case. He is a negative influence, he HAS to go. Sorry for taking up your time.e, but these past 2 years have been so demoralising.

    I'm delighted to see you have finally come around to this, but I cannot for the life of me see one iota of reason for any qualification on it. I have felt fir more than a year that Ten Hag should have been sacked, and every single game since then has re-enforced that. Many of the problems with "players" refer to players he brought in from his old club. Others, such as the appaling Rashford dont deserve to be on the bench but are tirelessly promoted by him. He has sapped the support of fans, no plan, no style of play, terrible substitutions - every game, the list goes on and on. I'll just pose one idea - if Ten Hag didn't deserve to be sacked between last September and now, no manager should ever again be sacked, as his record at United - on all fronts has been nothing short of disgraceful. Thanks again.

    Ha ha love it mate… my phone is bust so I’ve only just watched this 😂 If anyone says the Fa cup has lost its appeal that game proves otherwise… what a belter! Pure passion and desire got us that result! Not seen much of it recently but shows some of these players are capable of producing these performances… I just hope we can see that in every game we play! The core of youth is exciting thought garnacho and Mainoo were superb and I was delighted for Amad! Wembley 🎉

    Well rounded piece.... Didn't watch Forrest game so can't comment but I do 100% share your views on Rashford... YOU have to authentically own your own failings and YOU do something about it... His PR stunt is exactly that.. PR and it focused on the media... He needs to appreciate it's UTD fans opinion that count the most and whatever troubles he's got going on we're just looking for the lad to show some effort and spirit and workrate... And look like he wants to be there. Your point about him not handling the pressure of his status is great one... I think he's drowning under the pressure of that shirt, the status and the wages. Appreciate he's a Manchester boy but sometimes a change is good and that might be best thing for us all.

      Cheers for the comment mate. I'd love to say 'go & prove the doubters wrong on the pitch' but; I don't think he has it in him, I don't think he thinks he needs to & the club reinforce that attitude. He's shown little to no work rate in 4 years & been rewarded with an untouchable status & a huge pay rise. Beggars belief

    Seeing more people on Twitter starting to comment about his performance and more importantly his demeanour and body language. Working hard is absolute minimum for me regardless of talent and he's not doing anywhere enough. Bearing in mind everything you said about his wages & status it makes it even more unpalatable... Hit nail on head though this is a result once again of how the club has poorly managed these situations and characters... They don't reward the right behaviours so I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise. Iv got to point where id rather play with 10men than see a half-arsed selfish performance... Love to know what his team mates really think. What a difference in application and attitude of those 2 flanks vs Wigan... There for the world to see.

    Didn't watch the game but read the fallout on Twitter and also saw the video from Keane and Carragher on Sky... They were spot on but as you say this is what we've been saying for months upon months and it's frustrating that still only some media are picking it up. There's another one G Nev basically saying he's fed up watching UTD and tired... Again a common feeling I'm hearing more now. Before you might be accused of being a fair weather fan buts its the complete opposite... It's because we care so much but have very little impact because the fan base isn't united enough to stand up to the glazers. Martial is the epitome of everything that is wrong and reflective of such poor ownership. He's been here years and contributed nothing but a few moments. Jose wanted him out but Joel and Woodwood knew better... The recruitment is dire and lack of ability to get rid of non contributing players is equally as bad... All signs of poor ownership and leadership. Always destined to fail so there's little point looking beyond the top although I share the sentiment that Erik isn't doing himself any favors esp when it comes to picking sulky stroppy local lads who clearly are not good enough and appear not to give a shit.... The Shit show continues 😂😮😢 Where's Sir Jim and his 25%? That's for another post...

    Good to see you back. Don't get me wrong, I detest the Glazers, I want them out, I think they have destroyed this club. I believe they eventually will leave - when they get enough of the only thing they want - money. But it's a long haul. Life is a long haul. I have followed United since the days of Georgie Best, Nobby Styles, Alex Stephney, Denis Law and all of those. I remember us being relegated. There have been great heights and great lows, and there will be again. What is fascinating is your focus on the Glasers, and not at all on the squad, the manager and the team of today. The Glasers were there when we had Sir Alex, when we were winning things. They do of course have a big influence on how poor a team United are now. But the team, and moreover the manager bear a huge responsibility for how bad we are now. Ten Hag spent a lot of money on rubbish players, many that he was personally connected to, some he was not. Mason Mount was never a United quality player - he couldn't make it at Chelsea. £60 million ??? Amrabat who ?? Reguillon ??? I could go on & on. Rashford is no longer United quality. Look at him one on one today with the keeper. He has done nothing (has he scored ?) since we extended his contract by 5 years. Garnacho, someone who has figured out how to run around and look busy ' while doing nothing. Pellestri sitting on the bench - a natural attacker who knows where goal is ??? Like you, I do not celebrate a late mid-week one nil win, or today's one nil win over Luton. LUTON !! This manager / team are appalling, not even League 2 quality. They have to be called out. While I do admire your single minded focus on the Glasers, it is hard not to call out what is going on on the pitch. Laziness. But as I said, these things will pass, we WILL see good times again. Chin up !

      John, thanks again for your comment. I couldn't agree more about the players & I have touched on that in earlier videos. We were successful under Malcolm Glazer but that was because of the genius of Ferguson & we still had that edge & fear factor built up over nearly 20 years. The siblings that have inherited United are beyond clueless & what you see on the pitch reflects their ownership - they set the culture, the ethos & identity of the club. They consistently reward mediocrity which is why we have players like Rashford being treated like untouchables. Everything comes back to the glazers. Also, when I first started going to United (87), we were crap. But we had players like Hughes & Robson, characters that we could relate to. & as much as Martin Edwards was a smarmy so&so, it was obvious he wanted us to be successful. The glazers don't care about success & that is reflected in the team. Finally, you speak a lot of sense & do it without arrogance or superiority so thank you again for getting involved 🙏

    Top class. Everything you say about the Glazers and also the supposed deal with Ratcliffe is correct. Two issues - the deal with Ratcliffe is NOT done, and has the appearance of a diversionary story to paper over the real issues. Secondly, Ten Hag is not a symptom - he is the immediate problem. He has decimated United. If he was a Trojam horse he has been 100% successful - he has destroyed the team, morale and our way of playing. He has to go. Every day he remains he drags us down. Imagine looking back in 5 years and saying his biggest achievement was removing De Gea and Ronaldo. World class goalie and striker. And people argue about the merits of those decisions. But what did he replace them with? League 2 quality players. 4th Division players. He has to go !
